  1. If only we had a big, experienced safety on our roster... one with a history of knocking the shit out of tight ends.
  2. well, considering how late he threw the out route, maybe it's good that it wasn't on target
  3. textbook targeting followed by a flagrant late hit... and no flags
  4. Yeah, I think I'm the last one to jump off the Sterns bandwagon. Whether he's hurt or not, it's pretty clear that there are two or three safeties on the sideline who play a lot tougher than that.
  5. You cannot objectively look at Flynn's behavior and tell me that he is looking out for America above 1) money, 2) Turkey, 3) Russia, or 4) Trump. He is a treasonous piece of shit. Pardoning him is shameful.
  6. Good thread. Yeah, I'm shocked by the Trump era. NOT SO SHOCKED BY TRUMP HIMSELF - We had a lot of conservatives tell us in 2016 that when Trump said something stupid, he was really playing 4D chess. But after four years of tweeting about "closing the boarders," about Mueller's lack of a "smocking gun," right up until last week's lament that "Votes cannot be cast after the Poles close," we ought to be able to unanimously agree that he's really fucking stupid. But he's always been stupid. And he's always been a racist. He's always been a profoundly immoral person - cheating on his wives, cheating in business, bragging to Howard Stern that they couldn't throw him out of the Miss Teen pageant dressing room because he owned it, bragging about serial sexual assault, mocking the disabled, etc. PRETTY SHOCKED BY THE AMERICANS WHO SUPPORT HIM - I'm looking at you, evangelical Christians. You guys never stopped vigorously and loudly supporting a guy who behaves every single day in a way that is the exact opposite of the way Jesus told you to behave. I'll never understand it, and I'll never forget it. I suppose the only thing I can conclude is that propaganda works. I mean, it works really well, and there are a lot of people like me who were stupid to think that it couldn't work just as well in a liberal democracy as it does anywhere else in the world. Rush Limbaugh... out there telling conservatives for three decades, "Liberals hate America." "Liberals want to destroy this country." His own rhetoric has been turned up to a boil, and Americans can now live in an entire ecosphere where the "news" tells them (and they confirm to one another) that liberals are evil people who burn down cities, celebrate the death of police officers, and want to murder full-term infants. And that stuff is cemented into their brains as factual, because NO ONE in their world will argue otherwise. REALLY SHOCKED BY THE ELECTED LEADERS IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY - In 2019, Trump tweeted several times about how four black and brown Congresswomen (all very much Americans, let's point out) should "go back and fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came." Hours later, he mentioned Ilhan Omar by name at a rally in North Carolina, and he stood and smirked while the all-white crowd chanted "Send her back!" I have pretty low expectations for the rabid Trumpkins at a rally that looks like a colorized version of 1930's Germany... but what's still unbelievable to me is that every single elected Republican in the national government didn't call a press conference the next day to repudiate and condemn that bullshit. Every single one of them just ran past reporters and hid in their offices for a couple days so they wouldn't have to answer for it. And why? Because they didn't want to lose the privilege and power of their office. Six months later, those same boot-licking cowards wouldn't even allow Republican-appointed witnesses (Sondland, among others) to speak at an impeachment trial, because they'd rather win their own re-elections than allow the public confirmation that Trump is undeniably a traitor to this country. It's fucking disgraceful.
  7. I've mentioned this before, but Lindsey did a solo tour in 2007, and played the Hogg auditorium on campus. It may not have even been sold out. I think I sat on like row 10 or something. Magnificent show. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/lindsey-buckingham/2007/hogg-memorial-auditorium-austin-tx-13d31525.html It's interesting to think of what might have become of Buckingham-Nicks if they'd never joined FM. There's no way they'd have been as big as the version of Fleetwood Mac that included them (considering Rumours is easily a top-10 record in rock history given sales, radio airplay, etc). But would they have been bigger than whatever FM would have been without them? I mean, they almost certainly would have (still) split apart as a couple, and we'd have a solid but unexciting English blues band called FM, and two unheralded solo singer/songwriters from California.
  8. I mean, image a senate race in the south where one guy is a weird dude who dresses like Woody from Toy Story and has numerous credible allegations of creepy behavior with young girls over a period of decades... Imagine a guy like that running against a guy in law enforcement who successfully prosecuted the terrorists who murdered children who were attending a Baptist church. ***That*** was razor thin. So yeah, southern whites aren’t gonna care even a little about corruption.
  9. It's weird what's happening with a lot of Fox viewers. Fox seems to have poisoned their own audience, to some extent. Specifically, the prime-time lineup of Carlson, Ingraham, and Hannity have so thoroughly saturated the viewers with misinformation, those viewers don't believe it when the "news" arm of the organization correctly identifies Biden as the winner of the electoral college. I personally know several people who have sworn off Fox for Newsmax, and are also leaving facebook for parler. They have decided what their "truth" is, and they're just going to shop around for a news source and social circle that will confirm it. I'm not sure how big this exodus is, or if it will stick.
  10. We gotta get MJ Hegar's media team to Georgia -- STAT! -- to get him some tattoos and a motorcycle.
  11. Don’t you think she already is? She’s a hero. She may not have gotten her skull cracked by a white supremacist on an Alabama bridge, but she’s also a civil rights hero.
  12. You libs and your fucking "experts."
  13. Yeah, it's women and minorities who made him president. His cabinet really needs to reflect that.
  14. My day-after conclusion? Propaganda works. Like, really really works. “Hunter Biden’s laptop” may have gotten more people to the polls than any other issues. e g Do I want healthcare for my family? Should we listen to experts? Should we rebuild our traditional overseas alliances?
  15. Why is Trump convinced there will be ballot fraud in THE EXACT SAME STATES that gave him the presidency in a razor-thin race in 2016? I mean, if they were in the tank for the Dems, wouldn’t we have President Clinton right now?
  16. I keep an a.m. radio on in my laundry room, just because I sort of want to hear what kind of messaging the olds are hearing. And I got to tell you, even though I already know I'm stepping into a firehose of bullshit, I am still frequently floored at how profoundly poisonous his message is to this country.
  17. Trump getting interviewed in Virginia. Press asking questions that effectively equal “Will there be a peaceful transition?” He starts out with surprisingly normal answer. Ten seconds later he singles out Philadelphia as a place that cheats in elections. “The history of Philadelphia politics... No, I don’t put people on their honor code.”
  18. i e you can infer negligence by the very nature of the accident (am I getting this right, lawyers?).
