  1. In my country there is problem
  2. By itself, diabetes wouldn't do that. Maybe he fell and broke his right wrist a week or two ago, and the hematoma is just tracking down into his hand(?) That wouldn't explain the (less pronounced) discoloration on the other side.
  3. If there really is a third of a billion that's unaccounted for in his re-election campaign, it would just serve as a bookend to his inauguration committee, which, as I recall, raised 40 or 50 million more than previous presidents, and those extra tens of millions just sort of disappeared into the Trump pockets, to their wives, their supporters, their hotels (who hosted self-dealing events where the hotel charged the campaign exorbitant prices), etc. I see a lot of stories about how much the Trump properties profit by Trump bringing his security details there -- which is definitely unprecedented, and definitely corrupt -- but it's peanuts compared to these fundraising shenanigans (which Trump has decades of experience in how to pocket).
  4. Bush league psych out stuff. Ha!
  5. I don’t know. I think it’s much worse than “nothing.” He’s actively sabotaging and destroying institutions that are needed to effectively govern. Like departments of education, energy, and housing. He’s trying to rip healthcare from 20 million people who get it from the ACA, without any plan whatsoever to put a new system in place.
  6. I just listened to his interview. My favorite part was where the FBI had to call him and ask him which cord they should buy in order to access the laptop hard drive.
  7. Hey, Mr BothSides- Fuck the frat boys, and fuck all the golf-playing, back-slapping, overly-entitled and overly-advantaged country club kids. That includes Hunter. If you show me credible evidence of a crime, I’ll be the jury foreman in his conviction. But as much as I’m predisposed to dislike Hunter, these nonsensical and wildly absurd claims from a lawless and senile Giuliani ain’t gonna do much for me. I mean, I was way more pissed when the Country Club Child in Chief was protected from justice by partisans after there was substantial evidence from his own insiders that he (once again) sought to clown an American election.
  8. FYI, donating to Lindsey Graham's opponent felt even better than I had imagined.
  9. Lately I’ve thought about the “great recruiter but he can’t coach” label that Mack had to endure from ‘98-2005. But it was bullshit. Mack almost never lost to the TCU, Kansas, and Baylors of the world. Those were all an automatic “W.” Mack’s big flaw - pre-Vince - was predictable offense and ultra conservative play calling, especially in big games. Hell, in Mack’s last 5 years, coming off a title game in ‘09, he gets an F for identifying and signing offensive talent. I mean, sleepy Mike Sherman loaded up on NFL linemen and skill players while Mack was bringing in QBs and O linemen who couldn’t start at any school in the Big 12. Herman, on the other hand... that guy is a great recruiter and a terrible coach.
  10. Somewhere in heaven, John Blake is looking down and saying, "This Texas team is wasting a lot of NFL-caliber talent."
  11. Like Tina Turner in the honeymoon phase, it takes only the smallest act of kindness to draw me in again. You won't hit me again, right, Ike?
  12. I'm late to the headphone discussion, but still gonna throw out a cheaper option. The Beyerdynamic DT 990 comes in several versions with different impedances. So can get a pair that's designed to listen with laptops or cell phones. They're cheap, comfortable, and they sound amazing for the price. They're around $175. My only complaint with mine is that the cord is a bit too long. If you want grown-man headphones, I agree with jimmyjazz that the Sennheisers are pretty hard to beat.
  13. I 100% expect some final-week tomfuckery. In 2016 we got it from Comey. This year there’s going to be pre-election stunts (in addition to the Russian interference already underway)... maybe even from our now-weaponized DOJ. Political arrests. Fake investigations. There’s going to be election-day chaos (right wing violence, maybe a false flag we-caught-the-dems-cheating). And there’s going to be post election stop-counting-while-we’re-still-ahead shenanigans. Which is to say- I’m not putting much faith in polls that think a fair fight is a given.
  14. I remember Nate Silver, a day or two before the 2016 election, correcting someone on the 538 podcast who spoke like the election was in the bag for Hillary. “It’s closer to a coin toss than it is to being in the bag.” Since then, I bristle a bit when I hear people say, “Well, all the polls were wrong last time.” It seems that the polls were much, much closer to predicting the 2016 result than was the average layperson opinion... especially the opinion of Democrats.
  15. Missed opportunity for a better thread title: "Jon Bon Jovi is terrible at this job"
  16. I have Colbert on while I'm knocking out a few things on the laptop before bedtime. Bon Jovi is the guest. First there's an "interview" where Colbert lobs him some softballs. Boring. Then he asks Bon Jovi about his writing process for this record. This is a long-time pet peeve of mine: an interviewer asking the songwriter to talk about how they wrote the song, squinting in the light of the writer's imagined genius, and this exchange happening immediately before the audience finds out that the song is, in fact, a banal piece of shit that is utterly devoid of artistic merit. In fact, there's a whole show where this is the formula... it's called "Texas Music Scene with Ray Benson." But I digress. So Bon Jovi steps up to the mic and sings a clunker so bad that I had to look up the lyrics to see if my ears were deceiving me. Turns out... nope. He really does use "PPE" in a song, and starts a verse with this line: "Although I'll keep my social distance, what the world needs is a hug." Take my word for it: The music is even worse than the lyrics. God Dammit, Jon, you are single handedly killing off what very little is left of rock music. Jay Fucking Leno is embarrassed at what a milquetoast corporate whore you are. Please stop.
  17. Klatt comes off really well in those videos. I don't know why it's so impossible for networks to find knowledgeable, even-handed analysts. I mean, it would be hard to find a more annoying person in a sports bar than Galindo, Brando, or Lapham.
