Ha! As luck would have it, work got in the way, so I had to cancel. Had a round at Great Hills shortly thereafter and needed a driver, so I found a used Callaway Mavrik that was the exact same as the one I broke at Golf Galaxy, but with a slightly better shaft for $150. Been hitting it great, so I'm holding off until the spring.

That thing looks awesome. Are you wanting vertical gun rack or horizontal across the hood? I went back-and-forth on my Polaris. Ended up going with a single horizontal rack on the hood right in front of the steering wheel. Added a double ceiling rack as well. My thought was to have one at the ready then two up top for overflow. We cram six into the Polaris occasionally, so I didn't want the vertical rack on the floorboard.

Took my son out for youth opener this weekend. The last year that he's eligible. He didn't see much of anything moving. Just a few young bucks running together. So, we knocked out some chores, ran into town, ate fajitas and enjoyed the time together. Meanwhile from back home Saturday night, my wife sends me this pic. She said this guy was sitting in our front pasture as she pulled in from picking my daughter up from a halloween party. Crappy picture zoomed in and through the windshield, but he's a tank. We might need to scrap the 2 hour drive to the ranch and hunt from the front porch this weekend.- 365 replies

Screw those scumbags. They owe a lot of people a lot of money (including me).

Drinking fountain (south Texas). And C-1 was referred to as a "casita".

If the wall is being built from scratch, then it should definitely work. Is this a new partition wall or are you modifying an existing load-bearing wall? If load bearing, just make sure your header is adequately sized and doesn't affect the height of the rough opening.
-
That seems to be correct for this product. Rule of thumb is that your rough opening should give 1/2" on either side. So, 56-1/2" total frame size. So you could potentially get a 28" if the door slab goes edge to edge on the track, but I'm guessing you'll have to go with 27" to get it to fit fully in the cavity. Anything by Hafele is going to be a good product. That's mostly what we use for pocket door hardware, custom hinges, etc. Spend the money on good hardware. Especially if you're slab is solid core. I'd also highly recommend getting a solid plywood pocket door frame if you can find it. Heavier, but easier for install since it won't twist as much, and gives more rigidity to the frame to keep the door slab from rubbing. And, use the correct size screws when hanging your drywall. Nothing worse than a screw head poking through the back side and scratching the shit out of your door slab.

Makes total sense. Second largest buck I ever shot was 1 PM while out on a walk. Whatever works! -

3:00? That seems crazy early. Is this just a feeder you watch for enjoyment or one near a stand? I'm 7:00 / 5:00 (post DST adjustment). Keep it simple. I hate when a feeder goes off too early in the morning. You can hear them crunching corn and can't see shit. And, in the evenings, I try to avoid climbing in the stand after the feeder's gone off. I hunt after work on occasion, so it's tough to get there too early. I too subscribe to the "set it once" mentality. I used to hunt with some old timers that seemingly needed a meteorological calendar, owners manual and abacus to figure out what time to set feeders. Many an argument ensued, and it got pretty comical. We had one guy that thought he had it all figured out. He went and changed every feeder the week before DST. I hunted the following weekend and couldn't figure out why the feeders didn't go off. He had somehow moved the morning earlier and the evening later. So, the feeders were going off at 5:30 AM and 7:30 PM. -

Great idea on the free plan. I'm west of Dripping Springs, so not expecting any B&C trophies. More just curious about what's coming to the feeder. -

Just put up a feeder in my front pasture at my house. Surprisingly, there's decent WiFi. Any suggestions on a WiFi enabled game camera? I guess I could just go with a wireless Ring camera, but I'm not really concerned about video, and I'm trying to avoid any kind of subscription plan to go back and review pictures. I just want to be able to log on via an app to check out pictures every few days without much fuss. -

Can confirm. Had Giardia when I was 17 the summer before my senior year. It suuuuuucks. 2+ weeks of being tethered to the shitter. Lost 15 lbs that I couldn't afford to lose. Water cooler for high school summer league baseball was filled from a tainted well. Everyone but the kid who's dad filled the cooler got sick for weeks. We forfeited a half dozen games that summer. Can't imagine having it miles from civilzation. Do not want. Ever again. -
That's KIII-TV out of Corpus. I'm surprised they were able to spell Dallas correctly.

Didn't even think about that aspect. I bet you're spot on.

That was my thought at first. But, it didn't appear to be overly tenderized and was probably at least 1/2" thick in most parts. When I say it turned into mush, it was the consistency of refried beans. It wasn't like it turned into small chunks. Every bit of meat changed its constitution. So strange.
-
Evidently, after 25+ years of crafting my fajita cooking skills, I now suck. I had something really strange happen Sunday evening. Picked up a big inside skirt steak from the meat counter at HEB. Probably a pound and a half. Had them run it through the tenderizer. Used a tried and true lime marinade. The meat sat for maybe 2.5 hours in a Ziploc in the fridge in the marinade. Fired up the charcoal grill around 6 PM. Added a few small chunks of well seasoned Oak. Coals were perfect by 7:00. Threw the beef fajitas on there along with a few chicken breasts and a link of sausage. I went to go flip the beef, and it fell apart. Not in the form of a desirable tenderness. As in disintegration. Every time I tried to pick it up with the tongs, it would get worse. I slid some foil under it to keep it from falling through the grates. As it cooked, it fell apart more and more. As a last ditch effort, I heated up a skillet and threw it in there thinking it would be like a machacado. The end result was a big pile of mush. I tried a bite and immediately threw it in the trash. Not even the slightest semblance of appetizing texture. Literal mush. It wasn't until this morning that I remembered this thread. I really wish I would've taken pictures of this science experiment gone awry. So, what gives? I'm dumbfounded. Was the lime juice too acidic? Bad cut of meat? Or, for the tin foil hat conspiracists, did the acidity + heat compromise the integrity of the food-grade glue that was holding together the Soylent Green product that was sold to me as a beef skirt steak and I've now developed a technique to expose a massive scheme by big beef to alter our food supply?

Thank you @Herbie Hancock and @Kennythetiger. Exactly the kind of input I was hoping for. Saved both comments for reference early next spring. Any harm in knocking it down this fall with a bush hog, or am I just compounding the problem by doing that?

I was gifted a Citori Feather Lightning 12 ga as my college graduation gift 23 years ago. Absolutely love that gun for field shooting. Great for dove and quail. Barrel is a bit short for shooting clays, but it holds its own. Looks like they're slightly over $3K now. https://www.browning.com/products/firearms/shotguns/citori/citori-feather-lightning.html?srsltid=AfmBOop4LodFkqH_5Z6-48agFIToyjzx_9B8Vrf5hWlLN3ok5kV2bSxu If you're not big into shooting clays, don't mess with the adjustable stocks. Most of the CX and hunter edition Citoris are great guns and under that $3K mark. At the other end of the spectrum, I bought a Stevens 555 20 ga for my wife about a decade ago. Super lightweight gun and really fun to shoot. You're not going to turn heads with it, but it's a solid gun. Under $1,000. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/stevens-model-555-silver-over-under-shotgun -
Anyone have any input / experience on turning shit weeds into lush, green goodness? Looking for some advice on how to get more native grasses and/or grazeable pasture on my property. Backstory: Bought seven acres west of Dripping Springs and built a house a few years ago. Front third of the property is Coastal with a big Oak mott near the road. Back third was SOLID Cedar with a smattering of big Oaks here and there. It was so thick, you couldn't even walk through it without a chainsaw. Got all the Cedar cleared and stumps removed, and there's some decent soil there. Obviously some rocky areas, but it's surprisingly good dirt. I put down a bunch of Rye last winter, then hydroseeded a few areas adjacent to the house that did well this summer with all the rain. But, the remainder of the areas that I cleared are covered with every type of weed, thistle, stickerburr and nettle imaginable. We're planning on bringing in some sort of livestock in the next two years or so. Not super urgent since we already have an ag exemption with bees. And, with such a small tract, it would just be a few goats or sheep or possibly 1-2 longhorns as pasture candy. Not a farming / ranching operation by any stretch. And, supplemental feeding is anticipated. So, here's my quandary... What's the best way to eradicate the undesirable plants and encourage native grasses or let the Coastal proliferate? Do I bush hog it and try to keep the weeds low? Spot treat where I can with herbicide? Continue to overseed? Bring in goats first to eat everything under the sun?

Got paired up with Chris Klein of American Pie fame about a decade ago at Grey Rock. I immediately recognized him. He was just getting into golf and got paired up with our threesome. Super nice guy. Didn't talk a word about Hollywood or the movies during the entire round and we didn't ask. We traded cell numbers afterwards. I ended up playing with him a few more times that winter but schedules rarely jived.

2024 Youth Baseball - Every Kid’s a future MLB HOFer!!!

I posted up thread, and not to sound like an alarmist, but this sounds EXACTLY like my son. Quick summary: He was a late bloomer (also a lefty), and really didn't start pitching until he was 12. First year pitching, he didn't pitch much. 2-3 innings max. Never more than 60 pitches. He was VERY effective with lots of movement, but kind of wild. To be expected. He went occasionally to a pitching coach who was a young kid who played D-1 ball. No real pedigree with lessons. That spring, he started to complain of elbow pain. So, we shut him down. Went to the ortho, and he had tennis elbow. Did PT, got better, took the summer off and came back the next year. Over the next few years, he pitched more and more, but was never a work horse. Never threw more than 100 pitches. Always the 4th or 5th guy in select ball and on the HS team. Worked with a few pitching coaches, but never really found a good one. Always had crazy movement and good but not great velo. Would complain occasionally of elbow discomfort, and I always pressed him about it, but he said it was no big deal. This last spring (his sophomore year), he was shut down in late April and had Tommy John surgery in June. The reason I say all this is because I'm constantly second-guessing how we got to that point. I think it was somewhat genetics, but probably mostly bad mechanics. Not egregiously bad, but just bad enough to put lots of strain on the elbow for a kid that maybe didn't have the strongest ligaments to begin with. If I had it to do over again, I would have had him on the bands constantly, doing better arm care in general, and really find a good coach that can work on mechanics. Even if it's something minor, get the mechanics dialed in. Hoping everything's OK with your boy. -
Dallas Keuchel's 2015 season. With significantly more strikeouts. At least in 1986. Great article about Scott's development of his splitter. https://www.espn.com/page2/s/1986/011011neyer.html

That thing is HUGE! Where did you catch it? I caught this 10.75" Bluegill in Onion Creek a few years back. Hit a 5" Senko. I couldn't believe it. State record is 12.5". I thought the same thing. Probably closest I'd ever get to a state record.
