  1. Shit, Mo Bamba had 1.7 3pa per game at 27%. I can't bring myself to dig into it much more. Here's a 2016 coaching clinic pdf about Beard's motion offense in the week and a half that he was the UNLV coach: https://pickandpop.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Chris-Beard-UNLV.pdf Beard's bigs are more likely to attack mismatches than jack 3's. Expect to see a lot less shitty 3's and get to the ft line more overall
  2. The offense could part of it. I looked at the players listed as forwards or centers on Tech's last 3 rosters and there's not many 3 point attempts from those players. The only guy I noticed taking those shots was TJ Holyfield averaging 1.4 3 point attempts per game and he was a 37% 3 point shooter during his time in college. Compare that to Dylan Osetkowski under Shaka- 3.6 3pa per game at 30%.
  3. I think UT Brownsville and UT Pan Am consolidated into 1 university around 5 years ago and they decided on Vaqueros to replace both original school mascots. Not sure of all the ins and outs and what have yous with those campuses being about an hour apart.
  4. All 5 starters had more than 15 points. Lonnie looked pretty damn good, just wish he could get to the free throw line more. 7 players with 10+, not including Poeltl and Vassell who both looked good on defense. Can't complain much about a win though. Ja Morant is pretty damn good but is also a douche and doesn't play for us so fuck him.
  5. As of right now, yeah, should be on for at least 2022
  6. Same here. And I'm going to hate on Rudy Gay a lot. And Dejounte Murray. And Lonnie Walker when he plays like ass, so like 40 games at least. And Lamarcus if he keeps up his preseason 25% shooting form. Fuck. Maybe with all of this extreme suck going around we can get Cade Cunningham or Evan Mobley

  8. Was just about to say this exact same thing. It's frustrating as shit because its such an easy thing to teach and there's fucking youtube videos they could watch that would improve our pick and roll game tremendously. From what I've seen Hamm and Simms are the only ones that roll, everyone else pops out beyond the 3 pt line.
  9. For me, it goes back to the red ring of death on the 360. I had 2 of those damn things red ring on me so I bought 3 total, spent over $1000 total on those motherfuckers always hoping the next one wouldn't crap out. All of my games were on it so I didn't want to switch to ps3. Also most of my friends that I would've played games with at the time were on the ps3 so when it came time to decide between ps4 and xb1 I made the switch to PlayStation and I don't regret it a bit. The exclusives are better for me- Spiderman was good and the new one looks to be on the same level, God of War, Horizon, maybe a few others which are going to continue on ps5. There's also a few ps4 games I'll keep playing on my ps5 for a while. One thing I'm kind of looking forward to is the Dual Sense controller, it's not a huge deal or anything but I think it looks to have some cool features for a controller. I did prefer the xbox controllers to the Dual Shock controllers but its not a reason for me to switch back. I'm not sure about the demand for the new xbox because I haven't looked(from what I see here it's about the same), but I can wait 6 months for the ps5 to come out.
  10. If you look at the players picked from those drafts, the only glaring miss is taking Samanic over Brandon Clarke last year. 2019: https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2019.html 2018: https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2018.html 2017: https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2017.html This doesn't account for UDFA's , I can't think of any better than who we've picked without looking. Not a Metu fan, but he was the 49th pick in the 2018 draft and no one notable was picked below him. I would've rather seen us pick Paul Reed in the 2nd round yesterday but I do think Tre Jones will be a solid backup PG in a few years. If the scouting reports are correct, it looks like Vassell has a little bit more driving ability than Danny Green did and he seems to be more of a threat in transition. I'd rather have him than Marco or Bryn Forbes. I view our picks from the last 2 or 3 years as role players to our lottery picks over the next few years. Unfortunately, it's inevitable. Just not enough rebounding or inside defense on the roster as it is.
  11. I like this guy, he gets steals, blocks shots, actually plays defense. That seems pretty cool. And he knocks down 3's, the more I think of it he does address a bunch of areas we were shitty at as a team. We'll still suck ass next year but maybe Vassell can be a glimmer of hope for the future. At the very least, he seems like could be a good role player. Good article here to kind of get to know him a little. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/devin-vassell-nba-draft-basketball
  12. I don't have the skills for bird shit and a rag, but this has always come to mind when I see that cover. Not sorry for the super shitty photoshop
  13. They're our biggest threat to the future of our franchise right now. Next year Golden State will be back in the playoffs, Phoenix looked like they could be a playoff contender, I don't think we move ahead of any team that was already ahead of us. Rudy Gay will be another year older, Patty will be another year older, they'll both still be here chucking up bricks. But if we keep Aldridge and Derozan that probably puts us probably in a 30-35 win range which will probably be somewhere from 12th to 14th place in the west , which puts us around 8th in the lottery. Shit, the east had 7 sub-30 win teams this year. If we're going to draft someone to be the star we are going to have to get a higher pick than that.
  14. I'd say no. Zion Williamson was supposed to be closer to that last year. Not sure about next year but my guess is we'll be close to the same spot for 2021. We could be a much better team and have a worse record. Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, Rockets, Mavericks, Jazz, Thunder, Warriors are likely playoff teams without injuries taken into consideration. Suns, Grizzlies, and Pelicans are young and way more talented than us. Portland will be in contention for playoffs as well. Anyway, here's the consensus top 5 this year: Anthony Edwards 6'5" 225 SG- likely the #1 pick, great athlete, finishes at the rim efficiently, good passer. In his 1 year at Georgia, 19 ppg, shot 40% overall and 29% from 3, most blame that on him being the only player worth a shit but I feel like the top pick should be able to show more. Current NBA player comparison is a bigger Victor Oladipo that's not as locked in on defense. Even if we got the #1 pick, this guy doesn't seem like our Tim Duncan level savior. Lamelo Ball- Not even gonna bother reading scouting reports. 0% chance we draft him and keep him, the anti Tim Duncan. Fuck him and fuck his dumbshit fucking dad. James Wiseman 7'1" 235 C Memphis- can't tell much from stats here because he only played 3 games and was suspended for the rest of the season. Fran Fraschilla compared him to David Robinson physically, so that seems good. Good rebounder and one of the top defensive prospects in this draft class, his offensive game doesn't seem like a great fit for the modern nba but if you can put scorers around him he'd be effective. I see him as the type of player that has to go to a good situation, otherwise he'll disappear if he gets drafted somewhere like Cleveland. Hassan Whiteside/ Deandre Jordan type player Onyeka Okongwu 6'9" 235 PF/C USC- best big in college basketball this year. Elite Defensive player and rebounder, not much offensive game outside the paint. Can guard 1-5 better than Wiseman but overall a similar player. NBA comparison is Montrez Harrell Obi Toppin 6'9" 220 PF Dayton- 20 ppg on 63% shooting, 39% 3pt, one of the top offensive prospects and ready to contribute as a scorer. Explosive finisher at the rim and can step out and shoot, looks good in the pick and roll. He played in the A10 and wasn't a great rebounder so there's concerns there and is considered to be limited defensively. NBA comparisons include Tobias Harris, Kenyon Martin, Shawn Marion Deni Avdija 6'9" 210 SF/PF Isreal- Top international prospect, good shooter, scorer, and solid playmaking because he's such a good passer with ballhandling skills to match. Offensively can play 2-4 which is enticing. Like alot of prospects that play in the Euro League he didn't get a ton of minutes per game but he was the league MVP. Active defensive player but not an elite athlete in the NBA. 6'9" wingspan which is below average for his height in the league. NBA player comparison is Hedo Turkyglue So really that's a top 6, but I don't count Ball because he's not a realistic prospect for us. I'd be really happy with any of these other players, but I don't know if any of them will be superstar level players like we need to compete 2 to 5 years down the road. Based on our current roster, I'd guess we go PF or C but there's always a possibility that they take the best player available. SF/PF hybrid wouldn't surprise me either.
  15. Oh well, fuck it. I admit I haven't followed the draft very closely for years, so who would we want in the 9-14 pick range? I'm not terribly impressed with the guys at the top, Obi Toppin or Avidja would be interesting but they'll both be top 5 picks. Wiseman will be gone. I'd guess we go for a guy that can play the 3 and 4 or a 5. I would guess Saddiq Bey out of Villanova and Patrick Williams from Florida State could fit the 3-4 spot, maybe Jalen Smith out of Maryland. Precious Achiuwa out of Memphis seems to go pretty high in most mocks, about 6-9 and could play the 4-5 I think, but I think I read that only 10% or so of his shots came from outside 5 feet so could be limited offensively but did average 15-10 as freshman. We need a defensive presence in the paint. Vernon Carey from Duke. Paul Reed from Depaul The most likely pick: Aleksej Pokuševski, PF out of Serbia. 7 footer that can hit 3's I looked at 3 or 4 mock drafts for several minutes and came up with the expert opinion that these guys are some prospects we're looking at.
  16. Keldon fucking big body Johnson. 24 points on 8-12 shooting, 3-3 on 3 pointers, 5-5 from the free throw line, 11 rebounds and 3 assists in 25 minutes. I want a good pick, but beating some teams is always worth it, and the rockets are one of those teams. I didn't get to watch the game today but I watched him against New Orleans and JJ Redick was just toying with him. It's good to see him bounce back with a big game.
  17. Gobert and Mitchell not playing. Maybe a few other starters too
  18. I'm not sure I can jump on the Keldon Johnson bandwagon yet. Do any of us really want to watch a guy go hard all the time, drive and create contact to get free throws, shoot well from 3 and take good shots, bust his ass playing smart defense without gambling for steals all the time, and diving for loose balls? No thank you, I'll take Marco looking like just woke up from a drunken nap and Bryn Forbes. wtf Dejounte Murray, 2-8 for 4 points, no free throws attempted, and 1 rebound. Got his ass whipped the entire game. 2 games against the Jazz left, one against the pelicans and 1 against the rockets. I don't see it happening. Rudy Gay has actually played well these past 2 games and I don't think he has many more of these in him.
