  1. Consider what the payout is for a playoff bowl, compared to the payout in whatever bowl an undefeated UCF (or any undefeated non-P5 team) would be 'rewarded' with....are we talking about a difference in the hundreds of thousands of dollars? Millions of dollars? Would it be that surprising if 80% of college football teams, who are being locked out of the playoffs and playoff money, ended up in court? I mean, you've got a 'news organization', ESPN, over here, creating charts and graphs, and using every bit of air time they have to influence and control the narrative...with the very obvious goal of funneling actual, real world money, into the pockets of their business partners (SEC)... Potentially, we're talking about millions of dollars. How is this not already in court?
  2. Seriously, they've spent the last 20 minutes telling us that UCF, and by proxy, every team in that isn't a P5 school, should never be allowed to play in the playoffs. That's what they're saying. They're are telling us why 80% of the schools in the top division will never be allowed to play in a playoff game. Fucking mutiny. 80% of college football teams, you're being told you will never, ever be allowed to participate in a playoff. Do something about this.
  3. ESPN is no longer a sports news organization. They are now politicians who spend every single college football game trying to convince the public of their narrative. Fucking assholes trying to ruin my favorite sport. Have to listen to the entire fourth quarter on mute.
  4. Oh cool, now we get to listen to ESPN tell us why UCF shouldn't ever have an opportunity to participate in a playoff.
  5. Apparently Temple started the season with a mediocre quarterback and have been kicking people's asses since switching to the guy they have now.
  6. lol 'Foiled'? It's Snidely Whiplash! That's who's behind all this.
  7. That's specific. So, doesn't come off as racist. You're pointing out why the race part is important to your generalization, which helps. I mean, it's still a generalization that's more soundbyte than substance, but at least you're not phrasing it in a way that lumps all 'white men' into one loathsome, same-thinking Organism. Personally, I'm happy to see the blame spread around to everyone, white men included. And I understand a lot of the white devil comments are the product of lazy writing where the author didn't bother to be specific about which white men they were talking about, but race-based generalizations are still racist...even if they are about whitey. Here's a little test I do when I feel like I want to make a generalized statement about a race/gender/religion. If I changed my descriptors (to Black/Asian/Brown/Jew/Muslim/Christian), would I still be willing to post this on social media? The answer, for me, is always no, for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being; generalizations are for lazy minds.
  8. It's still racist. But you know, the cool kind of racist that is so hot right now. will ferrell.gif
  9. https://www.amazon.com/Making-Monsters-Joe-Turk/dp/1496063775/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1472974860&sr=8-3&keywords=making+monsters Here you go. The premise is about corporate statehood, but the story is mostly a sci-fi channel-esque apocalyptic romp...that develops because of it.
  10. Personally, I wish they'd do what they did in a book I read, "Making Monsters"....just pass an amendment that replaces states with corporations. Instead of 50 states, you create 10 mega conglomerates, that elect their own representatives and senators. Voters will need to be affiliated with Food corp, Medical Corp, Energy Corp, or one of their million subsidiaries to retain voting rights, but that's not that different than living in a geographic state. This would get rid of the creepy lobbyist bribery, super PACs and all of those behind closed doors candidate purchases. Cut out the middle man and let corps elect/appoint our representatives...out in the open. Sure, it might hurtle us toward an apocalyptic environmental collapse, but we are probably fucked anyway at this point, so at least we can have a less 'corrupt' government during our End Days.
  11. This. If you have enough money, you can quite literally buy up candidates and tell them what laws you want them to make. This always makes me think of Scott Pruitt, who got caught copy-pasting a letter from an oil company, onto his own stationary/letterhead, then forwarding it to the federal EPA. Guess what happened, after he got caught. He was promoted to the head of the EPA...because that's exactly the kind of man they want. They want a guy who can copy-paste corporate dictates onto government letterhead, at the federal level. Maybe it's the same all over. I just grew up thinking, in a democracy, lawmakers represented 'the people'....but now that I'm older, I can see that's not what this is.
  12. I agree with this completely. It's a solid argument and the reason I'll always hang around the middle of the political spectrum. With a few exceptions, people create their own predicament. however, the consequential question, pushes me back to the left.... What do you do with those Americans who lack ambition? Or your neighbors, who aren't as goal driven as you? Or the lady with 6 kids down the street, doing the minimum to get by? Do you kick 'em all out of the country? Or let them starve to death, because that will help us build a super race of elite Americans? Or do you work out a compromise, maybe kick in a tiny fraction of your own resources, because, lazy people are still human beings with families and dreams and maybe, if shown a little compassion, they'll wake up one day and start participating more in the community.
  13. My fully red, baby boomer parents are possibly the most socialist behaving people I know. They spend a huge part of their time and money helping poor people. I sincerely believe they are much better human beings than I am. Yet, when its time to vote, it's like they forget who they are. Suddenly they're ready to build a wall, keep out the undesirables, and shut down welfare. These are the same people who, despite my protests, gave a house key to a random homeless man and let him live in their spare room for two weeks. For decades, baby boomers have been programmed, clockwork orange style, to fear-hate the word socialist/communist/democrat...despite the fact they, quite literally, worship one of the most storied socialists in history. If I wasn't afraid it would melt their brains, I'd ask them: What Would Jesus Do? Vote for Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump?
  14. Here's what the baby boomer generation was taught for decades: 1. Communism=(socialism)=ENEMY. 2. Democrats=dirty hippy, pagan, bohemian, nonbelievers. 3. Republicans=God and Jesus and Family. (If a candidate says he believes in Jesus, then that candidate can eat a puppy on live tv, and my parents will still vote for him.) At this point, baby boomers are too old/apathetic to rewire their brains. Youth has always gravitated toward socialism/fairness/democrats, but baby boomers are here for another 10+ years and they're going to keep voting for Republican, no matter what direction the republican party goes. (And there are roughly 74 million baby boomers right now) No selling required.
  15. My avatar is an oil painting by Michael Hussar, but I understand why a philistine like yourself would assume it's 'magna' Just kidding, 'bro'. I hope we'll be friends. What uh...what was the 'it' i was supposed to look into? Because I've got quite a bit of free time today and I'm ready to do the research.
  16. So do the conspiracy theorists in his thread also believe 9-11 was an inside job? What about the moon landing? What are in those chem trails? Trying to evaluate what level of conspiracy theorists we've got going here before I engage. Because I've got some ideas on who killed Kennedy...
  17. "Those tweets weren't THAT big of deal, now that we've had some time to think about it." -short sellers frantically switching their positions- "We said some things and maybe posted some things online, but really, Musk isn't so bad...in fact, we like him! ...if it helps us make money. Because our opinions of people are a just a manifestation of our greeeeeed."
  18. Do people shower during these kinds of events? Because I'm going to start using this as an excuse if not...
  19. "blueblood" programs with voting members of the 'Playoff Beauty Committee' get a free loss. But you know, 'regular season matters more in this system' and all that...
  20. Ah...and the Herbstreit silence. ...It's...it's full of stars.
  21. Straight through the heart. This isn't an upset. I'ts an ass kicking.
  22. ESPN made a decision to stop being an impartial broadcasting company when they partnered with the SEC and started promoting them during all of their broadcasts. Letting Herbie announce every OSU game like the home town radio crew doesn't matter, if you've already sold off your status as an objective new organization.
  23. The icing on the cake, is hearing sadness and dejection in Herbstreit's voice.
