You know what drives me nuts about UCF claiming a title last year? They were actually supposed to play the Horns in Austin, but they asked us to push it back to 2023 (which was also recently cancelled when we scheduled Alabama). I know we were the definition of mediocre last year, but a road win against Texas certainly would have helped their playoff cause. I've never heard ANYONE mention the fact that they cost themselves a big potential resume boost.
A 'power 5' team will never be allowed into a 4 team playoff. Never. We will spend the entire year listening to ESPN promote their business partners (the SEC) as the best in the world, so two of those 4 spots are reserved for the conference they've invested in financially.
This means a 'group of 5' team would have to leap frog four 'power 5' champions. They'll never allow it.
14-14 with 7 mins in the 2nd quarter.

Didn't see a thread for this. Nobody watching UCF defend their national championship against Joey Freshwater?
UCF up early 14-0, first quarter.

Is Tech using a different QB now, than they did in their 1 loss? Seems like I read that somewhere...

That shit would get banned and/or draw a penalty in about 6 seconds.
Frankly, I think they'll soon be banned from flashing the Busey Pic, too, even though I don't think they should.
I'm sure banning an optical illusion would get discussed, after the fact. So, you'd get ONE use of it. Like say, against OU, when OSU is about to lose the big 12 championship by 1 score for the 10th year in a row.
If you ban the Busey pic, then you have to talk about banning video boards during specific plays in ALL stadiums. Any player can say he's being distracted by a video board, if it's within his field of vision.
edit: they probably will set up some basic rules governing video boards in the future...where they can be placed, what they can show during plays, etc. But currently, there aren't any rules that I"m aware of, so enjoy it while it lasts. I'm sure, at some point in our future, the fun-police will step in and homogenize the experience of attending a game in person.
-
I was thinking about that video board's effect on an opposing kicker. You could throw up all kinds of optical illusions if you wanted. Like an image of a field goal on that end of the field...then sliiiiiide it slowly to the left as he's about to kick.

Being happy is for women and children.

Everyone in Minnesota is drunk 100% of the time. I guess that's a kind of happy.

Just one more reason college football needs an objective selection system (conference winners) for their playoffs. You take voting/opinion out of it, then announcers can stop politicking and just announce the fucking game.

Color guy is offended by "reckless" pass. Brought the chuckles.
ESPN commentary is 95% politicking for the teams they want to see in the 4 team invitational. I honestly think they are given scripts before big games and told to hit the talking points, like every other politician.
If you aren't one of the teams they've chosen, its pretty gross.

TCU had to have that to stay in this game. That was an amazing catch by that WR. Wrestled off two guys, caught it, kept his balance to get into the endzone.
-
TCU has looked like the better team most of the game. 2 defensive touchdowns (1 that should have been a safety) is the reason they're losing.
-
Okay, good. Faith in refs restored.
-
Ohio state getting a lot of breaks in this game. Pretty late flag to keep the drive going. Not sure how you commit 'forcible contact' with your ear hole.
-
TCU is scary fast.

Prime time game delivering he excite, so far.

TD Bucks on a strip recovered in the end zone.
Should have been a safety. Clearly see Ohio st guy touching the ball while out of bounds. Should be 5-0. May not matter, but the fact they didn't review that is...strange.

I have no idea if TCU's offense is good or not, but if I was a defensive coordinator, I'd b terrified. Good luck calling plays on defense.
-
holy shit TCU's offense is running plays fast.
-
Impressed with the new defensive coordinator, Jim Knowles. Boise St. can score big and OSU held them to 21 points. That's not something you usually see from an OSU team. Receivers stayed covered and the D-line looked athletic and quick off line. Tackling was strong and not sure I saw any defensive penalties.
Texas Tech scored 63 points today (QB threw for 600 yards), so the new look Knowles defense is going to get another big test next Saturday,
-
OSU defense is much improved, which takes a lot of pressure off the offense/QB. You don't have to score 60 points, if your defense holds your opponent under 30.
Coaches were very prepared. Defensive pressure, punt blocks, surprising QB run options...good game plans on offense/defense/special teams.

O-line pushing Cornelius into the endzone. 43-21 OSU with 4 minutes to go.
Big win for OSU. Beat a solid, ranked team by 3 touchdowns (most likely)
-
Justice Hill with manly run. Stiff arming guys down the sideline. Looks like he stepped on the sideline, so no
TD. But that run was likely the dagger.
-
Boise St. with a do or die 4th down play. Boise QB dodges a tackler and tosses a TD.
34-21 OSU
-
Second blocked punt. This one taken in for a TD. That's good coaching to see a slow punt play in the film room and turn it into 14 points during the game.
34-14 OSU. 5 mins to go in the 3rd quarter.

Anybody know if UCF has their same key players? I watched them beat Auburn last year, but I can't remember whos who on their team...
