  1. I treated the joke as a serious comment because worn-out, group-think cliches don't make me laugh.
  2. So all those players came straight from fighting the Japs to beating all challengers on the FB field? /aggy again OSU was called Oklahoma Agricultural & Mechanical until 1957...so, you may be ignorant of historic world events, but you got the 'aggy' part right.
  3. Everyone ranked #1 in every poll should put up banners and plaques. Voting for a champion is bullshit and should be treated as such.
  4. He's turned it around. Good job finding the open man on that last TD
  5. You've seen 3 quarters in a game where OSU is winning 45-17. Not sure how you can extrapolate a 'long year' from that. Going about like you'd expect it go, really. edit: 52-17....start of the 4th quarter.
  6. Threw to a guy covered in the flat...looks like a 40 yard touchdown pass in the stat book.
  7. I do wonder if Gundy promised Cornelius he'd be the starter this year. So he's staying true to something he said...but is open to a new starter after a couple games.
  8. There was a frame where his elbow was on the ground, his right hand was securely on the nose of the ball and the back end of the ball was still inside his elbow. Going to win this going away, so it doesn't matter, but that wasn't a fumble.
  9. I was kidding. 2 or 3 bad throws doesn't mean you're a bad qb. He threw the ball a lot better on that next series. I do want to see what the hype is about on the freshman. Hopefully we'll get to see the other QB's tonight.
  10. Almost threw a pick....two downs later, overthrew a wide open streaking receiver. Might be first game jitters or might be time to see get some reps for the true freshman.
  11. ...and there goes the game manager part of it. Corndog throws an INT in the endzone. That ball wasn't even close. Only person who had a chance was the DB.
  12. Gundy's two weaknesses are sticking to older QBs, despite the younger QB's being better, and turning super passive against OU. That said, having a game manager back there with a set of very good running backs could work. Maybe they'll work the 50 yard jump balls in later...if we've got another WR who can catch them. (I always thought Rudolph was a little overrated, due in large part to Washington and other bailing him out a lot.) Can't complain about the defense so far. Throwing a shutout with a turnover.
  13. Just saw this on MLB.com 95.8 mph -- Aaron Judge, Yankees94.5 mph -- Bote, Cubs94.4 mph -- Giancarlo Stanton, Yankees94.4 mph -- Nelson Cruz, Mariners94.3 mph -- Miguel Cabrera, Tigers ...and the guy may not even make the starting lineup during the playoffs. (assuming the cubs finish strong.)
  14. Watched Brewers vs Reds yesterday. Brewers batter got hit in the FACE with a pitch and the Brewer's announcer remarked that was only a slider. "Just think if that would have been a fastball." It was an 85 mph slider....why don't you go stand down there and take an 85 mph slider off the face, asshole. They were literally spraying a chemical in the batter's box where he'd left blood behind, and the Brewer's announcer just keeps repeating how it was 'only a slider'. He must have said it 4 or 5 times.
  15. Whoever wins this game, also wins the crown for longest neck in major league baseball.
  16. If universities and fans will refuse to accept the secret committee's 2 or 4 team--eye-ball test--secret vote--invite only---tournament winners as 'the one and only national champion'. then the secret committee and ESPN's eye ball test no longer control the story of college football. And we'll be a step closer to getting an objective qualification system (with conference champs) And ESPN can go back to reporting on sporting events, instead of trying to control the qualification process. (A process that's become 100% fraudulent now that they've partnered with the SEC.) Social media and message boards are actually pretty effective when it comes to this particular type of thing.
  17. Bama should absolutely claim all of those titles. So should ND. So should Clemson and Ok State. Hang banners, hang plaques, add it to your marketing materials. Any team ranked #1 on any 'recognized' poll should absolutely claim a title. This is the best way to combat the bullshit they're forcing on us.
  18. Until there is a legit playoff, (with conference champs at the very least), I hope they crown everyone who goes undefeated as "NCAA champion." I hope they crown everyone who is #1 on every obscure poll from the dawn of time going forward, until we get a real playoff. Sure, the 4 team 'special secret, traditional schools only' tournament is better than the 2 team 'special secret invitation, traditional schools only' tournament, but its still total bullshit. I hope they do this every year and we have co-champions every year, until college football fans get what they deserve. A postseason tournament where all teams are eligible to win. UCF was undefeated in 2017. They beat SEC West champion Auburn.
  19. This sounds like a reasonable explanation. They did cut to that camera right before it happened.
  20. Problem is, you've got a lot of old fat guys rolling around university stadiums, ,wearing their bright yellow blazers and getting treated like kings by schools/conferences hoping they might get an invite to one of these exhibition games with a big money payout. As if a legit college football playoff wouldn't create a mountain of money that would dwarf the revenue produced by thirty Husqvarna sewing machine bowls. But it looks like the old fat guys in yellow blazers haven't figured out how to preserve their swag bags, hospitality suites, and secret envelopes...so millions of fans are told to be happy with what we have and settle in for decades of meaningless post season exhibition games. They went from 'we like our bowl system just fine' to a 4 team invitational pretty fast, once the right people were motivated (and Slive saw he could preserve the old selection system and get 2 of those 4 invites for the SEC) But nobody with power has figured out how to increase profits with a real tournament that has an actual qualification system. (win your conference, for example)
  21. I think that's the equivalent of throwing your car in drive to back out of the garage, and ending up in the living room. I bet the cameraman twisted the zoom the wrong direction.
  22. If i sat down and tried to think of a way to keep the football on screen, yet make it impossible to know what's going on...I'd have a hard time beating that sudden zoom-out technique.
  23. This is the thread where some asshole brings up the need for a post-season playoff, (Like literally every other sport in the world has) instead of randomized list of post-season exhibition games right? Because I'd like to be that guy. The people getting paid to preserve this 19th century postseason system have got to be getting close to dying off, right?
