  1. Bote celebrating another walk-off homerun on the bench. Good luck getting playing time on this infield. Rizzo, Baez, and I suppose Murphy will be daily starters? With one spot left for Bote, Russell, Zobrist, and oh yeah, former MVP Bryant coming back soon.
  2. Wait, so they are adding his bowl game yardage to the record? Last I'd looked, they weren't. Either add it for everyone, or no one...
  3. Can someone explain to me why they now count yardage from bowl games for the single season record now...but won't retroactively add yardage from bowl games to previous player's seasons? (Barry Sanders and others) Is it that they just want to see 'single season' records broken? ...as if it wasn't enough they play 12 games instead of 11 now.
  4. So 55 minutes of sooner football stuff followed by 5 minutes of OSU stuff? I do like Klatt though. Don't agree with everything he says, but compared to the SEC/ESPN shills, he knows something about college football outside of a single conference.
  5. Did not see the Murphy move coming. Agree with Goo, it was needed. Got a lot of young, free swinger, streaky bats on the team. Getting another patient, Zobrist-like hitter in the lineup can only help.
  6. Just look at how much easier those guys are to tackle during street take-downs. I can't remember another national candidate that made corruption a priority talking point. I vaguely remember getting excited when Obama talked about reforming campaign finance,..then halfway through his campaign, he recanted and said maybe it wasn't as bad as he thought, wink wink, nod nod. If you can't get behind a candidate focused on fixing corporate corruption, regardless of red/blue/man/woman status, then you're the problem.
  7. I watched a PBS(Or was it Nova?) documentary about the banking bailouts, several years ago (2009 maybe?) She was explaining how executives of banks/corporations would bounce back and forth between running their companies and being appointed to the committee tasked to police their industry. And how impossibly fucked up that was. (RE: Trump cabinet). Nine years ago, this was very eye opening to me, since I really didn't follow politics at that time. She was still at Harvard teaching, when I watched it, so didn't know her or anything about her. Except she was saying things that sounded true and appeared to be on the side of the human beings, in the 'war between human beings and greedy, corporate shills'. I was pleasantly surprised to see her years later, in the senate, or house, or wherever, chewing out the bankers who got bailed out. Honestly, I don't care if she's a democrat or republican or a man or a woman or a native american or an alien from another planet. I need to believe somebody, somewhere is willing to resist the corporate buyout of our government leaders. If she's willing to do that, I'm 100% in. My cynical, conspiratorial mind thinks her anti-corporate corruption position will get her blackballed or assassinated, and we'll end up with yet another paid actor/mouthpiece. But, I really hope I'm wrong and she gets the chance.
  8. Should the cubs get into the playoffs, they could still make a run spinning Hamels, Lester, and Hendricks around and around. All three are battle tested. But the Darvish bust makes everything a little less likely. First bust for Theo? Not that it was his fault. But everything else he's touched has turned to gold. Even his 'mistakes' seem to cause very little pain. Darvish shutting down hurts.

'The Bananimal' and 'Taking Grandma to applebees' made me laugh out loud.

I will say the surgery scene and the implants could have been better. The Art Director or whoever was in charge of that part was the weak link on the production team.

Just watched this. Loved everything about it. The underground house at the start got my full attention. (Cool architecture fascinates me and is usually a good sign that the production has put effort into their movie) The premise is good sci-fi material and the plot was fully developed with extremely creative and inventive action sequences. I guess it was made by Australians, so it didn't get any publicity here, (and the last post in this thread was in June), so I think it's fair to call it very underrated. If you like sci-fi, or 'concept films' or creative action movies, definitely watch it. Disagree that it needed a bigger budget. Comic book movies with their flying, CGI fist fights need to learn from movies like this. It reminded me of a black mirror episode, but movie length.

Watched the whole thing. They made the lead character too stupid. I can almost deal with the flaky sister sabotaging herself...because I do think people do that. But watching the protagonist stare with confusion at every single sentence uttered in his direction made me kind of hate him. It's quirky and there's a few interesting things that happen, but if they do a second season, I won't be watching it.
  13. I always wondered why 'bad teammate' and 'major harsin' would both use the term 'of your ilk' in every third post, despite ostensibly being aligned on opposite poles.
  14. Let me get this straight, you started this thread because your grandad had special magical powers and he passed those special, magical powers through 'three generations' to you...and you're using these elite powers of perception to post anonymous message board hate aimed at an inventor who is actively building rocket ships and hi tech cars. I think I understand now. And I think I should uh...I"m just going to walk slowly toward the exit and...everything's fine...you seem totally stable and not like someone who would send a bunch of ranting letters smeared with your own excrement to random celebrities...everything's fine....you have fun in here....in your totally normal thread for normal people.
  15. Walk-off balk. I've never seen that before.
  16. Keep coming back to this thread to see if OP explains why he's posting hate for a random celebrity inventor/CEO. If I read between the lines, kinda looks like OP is actively shorting Tesla stock and supporting his position by neg-posting on an internet message board, hoping it will somehow sway investors, helping him to make money. Which would be gross. Or he's an OnG guy with an axe to grind against electric cars? Seems a stretch, but this board has an 'oil barons' thread, so it wouldn't surprise me. This would also make the thread purely greed-motivated, so again, gross. Or the least interesting option, its another Red vs Blue political thing. Because it can't be that a grown man is simply jealous of a popular famous person... Does Musk identify with a political party? Seriously, why did you start a hate thread for a guy trying to build rocket ships and hi-tech cars?
  17. Page 3 proving that adding religious language to--anything--guarantees conflict.
  18. So who is paying Snook to run the 'it's all so confusing' campaign? If it's tOSU, then they're keeping Meyer. If it's Meyer, then he might still be fired.
  19. Career-wise, I could maybe agree with your Russell defensive rank. We'll have to agree to disagree with regards to his 2018 season. So when KB gets back, if Bote is still playing the way he is now, offensively and defensively....what do you do?
  20. Baez has less range than Russell? I can't even tell what you're arguing at this point...the validity of your cherry-picked stats? But okay...if it's your lineup, and Russell is untouchable (despite his team low OPS and imo, defensive medicority), how do you get Bote onto the field?
  21. It was the most dramatic ending a baseball game can have. They mentioned he wasn't hitting all that well in the minors, but those stats are amazing compared to what he's done so far in the big leagues. He's a great underdog story and seems like a good guy.
  22. So you're saying that committing errors when the ball is hit to you, is meaningless. But being in the game when your team wins is very significant? What a weird and random argument. Russell's 14 errors is tied for the most in the national league (any position). I'm not saying he's horrible, but he's been below average, league-wise, defensively. And he has the lowest OPS for any position player on the team. I like Russell, but if I want to get Bote into the lineup, I'm platooning Russell. I had to look up 'Defense runs saved'. That's an interesting, but rather abstract stat, honestly. (What was his fielding % with with balls hit to this or that exact point on the field. How did he do with balls that were projected to be caught 60% of the time based on trajectory/speed). Not discounting it, but I'm not sure it trumps actual errors made.
  23. And apparently hitting the ball harder (avg velocity) than anyone else in the entire league. If I took the names off the jerseys and was confident there'd be zero emotional fallout, I'd move Baez to short and KB to second base and leave Bote at 3rd. KB's fielding % is .959 (2nd worst for a position player on the team after La Stella). Bote's fielding % is 1.000 Russell has 14 errors already (3rd worst fielding % on the team) and looks distracted some games...combine that with a .266 batting average, and he's odd man out, for me, unless something changes by the time KB gets back.
  24. But how do you keep Bote on the field? Definitely hitting better than Russell, but not sure I've ever seen someone go from 3rd to short stop before...outfield maybe? Just seems a waste to leave him on the bench all game...he's playing as well as anyone on the team.
