  1. Until there is a legit playoff, (with conference champs at the very least), I hope they crown everyone who goes undefeated as "NCAA champion."  I hope they crown everyone who is #1 on every obscure poll from the dawn of time going forward, until we get a real playoff.

Sure, the 4 team 'special secret, traditional schools only' tournament is better than the 2 team 'special secret invitation, traditional schools only' tournament, but its still total bullshit.

I hope they do this every year and we have co-champions every year, until college football fans get what they deserve.  A postseason tournament where all teams are eligible to win.

UCF was undefeated in 2017.  They beat SEC West champion Auburn.

I bet the control room wanted a slow zoom in to frame the kick just as the ball was snapped but lost track of the time. They tell the camera man to zoom out and then, in panic, take his camera when the ball is snapped.

I worked in TV for a little while and operated a studio camera. I sucked. Any camera operator who can keep a football in motion in focus from a hundred yards is elite. Their mistakes are sometimes not realizing that they're on-line and moving off their shot too quickly. Their apparent mistakes are often control room fuck-ups.

This sounds like a reasonable explanation.  They did cut to that camera right before it happened.

Here is the problem, you see how long it took to get the arm twisting done to start a "playoff" for college football..? Just imagine trying to get an 8/ 12/ 16/ 24, or (will never happen), a 64 team playoff... *Probably would be good with just either a 16 or 24 team playoff, and before you say, "That's too many games", well, division II & III play 24 playoff game brackets, yet still the student athletes are functioning in class and handle their academic workload, here are some dancing asian chicks to distract us from the fact we only have a "playoff" in name...

Problem is, you've got a lot of old fat guys rolling around university stadiums, ,wearing their bright yellow blazers and getting treated like kings by schools/conferences hoping they might get an invite to one of these exhibition games with a big money payout.

As if a legit college football playoff wouldn't create a mountain of money that would dwarf the revenue produced by thirty Husqvarna sewing machine bowls.   But it looks like the old fat guys in yellow blazers haven't figured out how to preserve their swag bags, hospitality suites, and secret envelopes...so millions of fans are told to be happy with what we have and settle in for decades of meaningless post season exhibition games.

They went from 'we like our bowl system just fine' to a 4 team invitational pretty fast, once the right people were motivated (and Slive saw he could preserve the old selection system and get 2 of those 4 invites for the SEC)  But nobody with power has figured out how to increase profits with a real tournament that has an actual qualification system. (win your conference, for example)

If i sat down and tried to think of a way to keep the football on screen, yet make it impossible to know what's going on...I'd have a hard time beating that sudden zoom-out technique.

  5. This is the thread where some asshole brings up the need for a post-season playoff, (Like literally every other sport in the world has) instead of randomized list of post-season exhibition games right?  Because I'd like to be that guy.

The people getting paid to preserve this 19th century postseason system have got to be getting close to dying off, right?

  6. Bote celebrating another walk-off homerun on the bench.  Good luck getting playing time on this infield.

Rizzo, Baez, and I suppose Murphy will be daily starters?

With one spot left for Bote, Russell, Zobrist, and oh yeah, former MVP Bryant coming back soon.

    from the article

In '88, Sanders didn't rewrite the records books, he incinerated them. He rushed for 2,850 yards, scored 44 touchdowns"

no, he didn't, because bowl games didn't count at that point. until the NCAA retroactively says "OK all bowl game stats count", it's fucking confusing to change famous numbers like 2,628. it would be like saying Roger Maris hit 58 home runs in 1961 because I think the 154-game schedule is more legit than the 162-game schedule

Wait, so they are adding his bowl game yardage to the record?  Last I'd looked, they weren't.  Either add it for everyone, or no one...

  8. Can someone explain to me why they now count yardage from bowl games for the single season record now...but won't retroactively add yardage from bowl games to previous player's seasons?  (Barry Sanders and others)

Is it that they just want to see 'single season' records broken?    ...as if it wasn't enough they play 12 games instead of 11 now.

For anyone that is interested, KOCO will show a preseason special...

So 55 minutes of sooner football stuff followed by 5 minutes of OSU stuff?

I do like Klatt though.  Don't agree with everything he says, but compared to the SEC/ESPN shills, he knows something about college football outside of a single conference.

  10. Did not see the Murphy move coming.   Agree with Goo, it was needed.  Got a  lot of young, free swinger, streaky bats on the team.  Getting another patient, Zobrist-like hitter in the lineup can only help.

How could anyone that isn't milking the government teat not support her on this? What say we swap the War on Drugs to the War on Corruption? Keep the same mandatory minimums, property seizures, no knock warrants, ect. That would keep cops happy with a new group to focus that energy on and the American people could sleep a little sounder at night knowing they are there to protect them. Side effect, no crooks would be encouraged to run for office, thus no 18 person debates.

Just look at how much easier those guys are to tackle during street take-downs.

I can't remember another national candidate that made corruption a priority talking point.  I vaguely remember getting excited when Obama talked about reforming campaign finance,..then halfway through his campaign, he recanted and said maybe it wasn't as bad as he thought, wink wink, nod nod.

If you can't get behind a candidate focused on fixing corporate corruption, regardless of red/blue/man/woman status, then you're the problem.

  12. I watched a PBS(Or was it Nova?) documentary about the banking bailouts, several years ago (2009 maybe?)   She was explaining how executives of banks/corporations would bounce back and forth between running their companies and being appointed to the committee tasked to police their industry.     And how impossibly fucked up that was.  (RE: Trump cabinet).   Nine years ago, this was very eye opening to me, since I really didn't follow politics at that time.

She was still at Harvard teaching, when I watched it, so didn't know her or anything about her.  Except she was saying things that sounded true and appeared to be on the side of the human beings, in the 'war between human beings and greedy, corporate shills'.      I was pleasantly surprised to see her years later, in the senate, or house, or wherever, chewing out the bankers who got bailed out.

Honestly, I don't care if she's a democrat or republican or a man or a woman or a native american or an alien from another planet.   I need to believe somebody, somewhere is willing to resist the corporate buyout of our government leaders.   If she's willing to do that, I'm 100% in.

My cynical, conspiratorial mind thinks her anti-corporate corruption position will get her blackballed or assassinated, and we'll end up with yet another paid actor/mouthpiece.   But, I really hope I'm wrong and she gets the chance.

  13. Should the cubs get into the playoffs, they could still make a run spinning Hamels, Lester, and Hendricks around and around.    All three are battle tested.

But the Darvish bust makes everything a little less likely.    First bust for Theo?  Not that it was his fault.  But everything else he's touched has turned to gold.  Even his 'mistakes' seem to cause very little pain.  Darvish shutting down hurts.

His interview with the TBS censor is fantastic, trying to figure out what slang terms he can say on air, what he could wear, etc. "The Old Tokyo Sandblaster" gets me everytime.

'The Bananimal' and 'Taking Grandma to applebees' made me laugh out loud.

  15. I will say the surgery scene and the implants could have been better.  The Art Director or whoever was in charge of that part was the weak link on the production team.

  16. Just watched this.  Loved everything about it.   The underground house at the start got my full attention.  (Cool architecture fascinates me and is usually a good sign that the production has put effort into their movie)   The premise is good sci-fi material and the plot was fully developed with extremely creative and inventive action sequences.

I guess it was made by Australians, so it didn't get any publicity here, (and the last post in this thread was in June), so I think it's fair to call it very underrated.  If you like sci-fi, or 'concept films' or creative action movies, definitely watch it.

Disagree that it needed a bigger budget.  Comic book movies with their flying, CGI fist fights need to learn from movies like this.

    Spoiler

Breaking the bad guys arm and shooting him in the face with his own implanted hand-gun was badass.

It reminded me of a black mirror episode, but movie length.

  17. Watched the whole thing.

They made the lead character too stupid.  I can almost deal with the flaky sister sabotaging herself...because I do think people do that.   But watching the protagonist stare with confusion at every single sentence uttered in his direction made me kind of hate him.   It's quirky and there's a few interesting things that happen, but if they do a second season, I won't be watching it.

  18. Let me get this straight, you started this thread because your grandad had special magical powers and he passed those special, magical powers through 'three generations' to you...and you're using these elite powers of perception to post anonymous message board hate aimed at an inventor who is actively building rocket ships and hi tech cars.

I think I understand now.  And I think I should uh...I"m just going to walk slowly toward the exit and...everything's fine...you seem totally stable and not like someone who would send a bunch of ranting letters smeared with your own excrement to random celebrities...everything's fine....you have fun in here....in your totally normal thread for normal people.

  19. Keep coming back to this thread to see if OP explains why he's posting hate for a random celebrity inventor/CEO.   If I read between the lines, kinda looks like OP is actively shorting Tesla stock and supporting his position by neg-posting on an internet message board, hoping it will somehow sway investors, helping him to make money.    Which would be gross.   Or he's an OnG guy with an axe to grind against electric cars?   Seems a stretch, but this board has an 'oil barons' thread, so it wouldn't surprise me.  This would also make the thread purely greed-motivated, so again, gross.    Or the least interesting option, its another Red vs Blue political thing.   Because it can't be that a grown man is simply jealous of a popular famous person...

Does Musk identify with a political party?

Seriously, why did you start a hate thread for a guy trying to build rocket ships and hi-tech cars?
