  1. Had the potential to be something funny. It was not.
  2. I don’t make fun of them because the fruity bastards helped us just a bit in the Revolutionary War.
  3. Yessir. The one that hauled two girls out of the shitter at one time. By their hair.
  4. If that chick in the light blue isn’t busy next spring, I’d hire her to work calves for a few days. I believe she could handle them.
  5. I at least fall asleep watching it.
  6. Some decent football on tonight, too.
  7. Motherfuckers will throw Angry Jesus in jail first and ask questions later.
  8. You shut their scrotum in the back door. Keeps em from moving around much.
  9. Shane Smith. Very, very nice guy.
  10. Maybe he’s like me and has an outstanding personality and extraordinary lovemaking abilities.
  11. Kennythetiger. Superior genes.
  12. Don’t monkeys already have thumbs?
  13. All the bacon please. Lemonade probably.
  14. “Gave away all that I could steal” for me. In my mind he’s talking about intangibles, like other people’s time and love.
  15. Definitely a “turn it up song”. I hear pieces of John Prine’s “Picture Show” in it sometimes. My favorite song on the album thus far. As a member of the AA thread I read a lot of drinker’s remorse and self-justification in “Chipping Mill”. We anticipated that shitstorm of a few years ago might result in some great songs. I wonder if RC handed those lyrics to Evan and said “Fix your shit with your wife.”
  16. @Celery Man I didn’t want the Isbell dudes scolding us for hijacking their thread. I can’t think right now of a song that hits truer to me than “The Funeral”. I am not sure if it’s my criminal defense practice, my in-laws, or both, but it’s like Evan was in the same room with me when he wrote that song. The little blurb about a deceased dad’s pistol finding its rightful owner after everyone else goes to bed- holy shit. “The Bird Hunters” is definitely my favorite sing-along song. As mentioned up-thread, the opening notes on the fiddle temporarily fix everything that’s wrong with the world. When I was young and my siblings and I were helping my dad with manual labor on our ranch, Dad would sing “John Henry”. Quite loudly. He must have passed that on to me, because “Long Hot Summer Day” is my manual labor song. It’s not originally a TT song, but I sure like their version.
  17. You’re the one from Ohio- you tell us.
  18. I’m not sure she’s wearing a brassiere.
  19. How was the big Texan challenge?
  20. Have you tried re-starting it?
  21. Man I hated clothes off the line. The jeans were stiff as hell and every now and then had a wasp in a pant leg.
  22. Plus call in sick to school, then wait for a nurse to restore my pluck.
