  1. I put Barricade pre down for spring weeds, can I use it now?
  2. Our whole area is in a brownout. Full house generator is running and we’re great. However, no cable and no internet. Is there a way to fix this? Seems like cable should work if cable box is on. Same with internet.
  3. Why don’t you post a pic of the house. Hard to give any advice without seeing it.
  4. Why just full time 3 weeks? Are you planning on going in person then? Wife was just talking about pulling the 3rd grade and doing it herself. That or private are going to be our best options at this point.
  5. I was anti private school because I thought shit would work out. I’m about to tell my wife to figure out private or pull them and home school. My 8 yr old daughter that absolutely loves school told her brother yesterday she’s done with school and doesn’t like it anymore. Our school took the approach of less time on zoom and make it focused. Then give them assignments through something called canvas. So this morning, 3rd grade teacher tells the class to go write a story - no direction, for 35 min (while sitting on a zoom). Complete waste of everyone’s time. Teacher left. So it’s not like she’s answering questions.
  6. This was another one we caught. Kids didn’t have anything to do with this one.
  7. Son (6, holding fish) took his first deep sea trip last week in Destin. Caught some snapper, some trigger fish (thought those were the coolest), and a couple mackerel. He did awesome and didn’t want to come back in after 3 or 4 hours. He just wanted to stay out and keep catching fish.
  8. What rate would be realistic to get right now on a 30 yr - straight up, no messing with points.
  9. 5 years ago we bought our house with a letter. My FIL is well known in the area and we were moving from Austin and people don’t know my name. It got us the house. When we sold our Austin house we got a letter and it made the difference (1st home Indian family). When we bought our current house (2018), wrote a letter (bought from kids of parent owners). This was a little different letter - explaining why we were offering the price we were. I did include my kids growing up in this house, but also told them how much work we would need to do to make it livable. Houston realtor (mainly deals in memorial area) is all about letters.
  10. Damn, a lot of these things we had - pool, Nintendo, cloths, etc. We were pretty middle class I think. I also found out when I got older that my parents are terrible with money and lived a lot of their life in debt. I believe things are fine now, but I never know what I can trust with them. I always thought a satellite dish was a big deal. Also, driving a Caddy. Golfers also came across as rich because they were members of the country clubs.
  11. Thanks. I’ll go over and check it out more to see if there’s anything there.
  12. He doesn’t like the boots? I had a dog in NYC and used to put boots on in the winter after big snow (rock salt would cause problems). He didn’t mind them after the first 5 minutes. I wish I could find my pics of him in Central Park after blizzard in 2005(or 6). Boots were awesome.
  13. My FIL has crepe myrtles around his pool and it has caused him to go insane. He is outside all day skimming for blooms. *a couple weeks ago he wanted to cut all the potential blooms off. We forgot and now he’s pissed b/c they’re bloomed our and all in the pool.
  14. Father in law’s yard has gotten in some trouble. Sprinklers go regularly. These look like tracks from the mowers. Grass is toast. Any ideas? They seem to think someone sprayed weed killer and then got it on the blade. I disagree. These are also the areas that get blasted by sun.
  15. What is the size of a sport court? Trying to figure a place in our backyard.
  16. Curious about spray guns as well. I’ve been considering it for a couple years. So many options.
  17. Other poster is right, it’s a conversion. Not eligible for deduction put it in and convert. Backdoor Roth. *sorry, you’re right. I thought other poster was saying convert, but he said reclassify. No dice on that.
  18. He could convert to Roth, but IRS considers all IRA money in a conversion, so some of it will be taxable, and that’s assuming an IRA account didn’t exist before this. 100k in IRA, convert the 6k, 6% isn’t taxed, rest is.
  19. No, you’ll now have a basis in your IRA so the 6k and change will not be taxed twice. It’s tracked with Form 8606. Your CPA or even turbo tax (i think), can handle this.
  20. Why exactly is it considered overfunded? Why don’t you just leave it in as a nondeductible IRA contribution? You can have a pension at work and still put money in an IRA. Also, when did you make the contribution? If in 2020, can your institution just change the year of the contribution? *edit* when I say nondeductible I’m referring to the amount over what you can deduct(740 I believe)
  21. Why is that kid wearing a coat in July? What’s the general location? I need to go somewhere my kids need coats to go outside.
  22. A client of mine has been trying to convince me that moving to New Zealand would be in my best interest for the last 4 years. I started looking into it a month ago. I could continue working in the US, and eventually do the same thing there. My wife would never go for it. She’s too close with her family and I couldn’t drag them away.
