  1. If you can get through summer and really want another go to Sams. I got the floor model at Sams for $200 (regular 1200) plus the manager threw in 2 extra slides. Why? Why not? I added one on and the other is in my garage. I figure someone will need it one day. Edit: Oh yeah, it was already assembled. I had them disassemble into a few major pieces so I could move it and fit it into my backyard.
  2. Dang, can’t believe that was 20 years ago.
  3. No. That was the call. If you’re talking about my last line, the - post on Surly - was just my thought, I definitely didn’t say that part.
  4. My wife has been sick for the last couple of days. Puking. Maybe fever. Nothing else. She was in bed most of the day yesterday. Before I left for work she said she was fine. I just called to see how she was doing. “I’m ok but my foot just really hurts. I think I pulled something when I was throwing up.” “Um. Ok. Gotta go” post this dumb shit on Surly.
  5. Pretty sure this is a cross post I read the other day.
  6. Estimates are a couple that is 65 will spend ~$250-275k+ https://www.kiplinger.com/article/retirement/T039-C001-S003-how-much-you-ll-spend-on-health-care-in-retirement.html That doesn’t include LTC
  7. How do you watch without dubbing? I turned this on and then saw the dubbing and got pissed and couldn’t watch.
  8. Saw that. Sad. He had a couple kids if I remember.
  9. Get some aggys involved and you can double that in no time
  10. Cash balance is a defined benefit, not defined contribution.
  11. Got it. Guess it must have been set up a while ago. As you said, it’s free money!
  12. It’s invested and should be earning more than what a bank account is earning. 4-6% is what a cash balance should be set at. It’s a defined benefit (pension). You’re too young to get the most benefit. Not sure how big your company is, but let’s say the owner is 65. He’s able to put away 200k+ (depending on a few things) and that counts as a business deduction.
  13. How old are you? A cash balance is more than just a savings account and typically benefits older employees/owners the most.
  14. Don’t forget about the cost of long term care. That can really put a damper on you or your spouse’s plans.
  15. This is what I was thinking. If you’re back, who cares where you are in the draw. Go win. You might have to face the top seeded players earlier, but they’re going to come around sooner or later. Seems like there would be less pressure and no excuses if she were to flop. On the other hand, you bitch and whine. Now you better go out and show something otherwise you look like an idiot.
  16. My dad retired around 2 years ago. Earlier than he should have. He’s working part time, but they are blowing through their money. My old neighbor retired when he was 55. His father had died of a heart attack at 65 so this guy wanted to enjoy life with his wife. He ended up dying a couple years ago at 102. He enjoyed every day of retirement and his life.
  17. I called my grandmothers my their first names. I never knew any grandfathers.
  18. Seriously. That water is not your friend.
  19. I’m fascinated a group of women a thousand miles away from where this event was occurring make and wear these as if they were there. Did they dress up? I really am fascinated at the effort.
  20. People are funny. “The census is tracking me - fuck that. Alexa, buy more diapers.”
  21. I like the Ring theory. My parents are definitely on Nextdoor and they recently got a Ring system. My dad has it set up so it goes off when a car drives by. They live on a busy street. It’s so fucking annoying.
  22. All I hear is yanny. I don’t like the way it sounds either. Creeps me out.
  23. Because I have a golfcart? Used are cheap. Maybe if I said she hit my AMG Benz, but she hit my 12yr old Tahoe. And I live in Conroe. Humble brag is going on in the property tax thread and I’m not in there.
  24. It can’t be worse than suddenlink. Last fall my cable kept freezing. I did the normal reboot for s few days and that didn’t fix it. It was happening at the in-laws a couple blocks over as well. I call and the automated service said there is a known problem with your internet, is that why you’re calling? “No”. Ok then. Why are you calling? Cable. “Ok. Due to high call volume would you like to remain on the line or have someone call you back? To remain on the line press 1. To leave a number and have someone call you back press 2.” Hit 1 “goodbye” Called back. Same deal. Hit 2. “Goodbye” I was so pissed I must have done that 5 times thinking something would be different. Finally I went to the website and fired off a pissed off email. Got some bullshit reply 2 days later to call a number. I called and some girl answered. I explained the situation and the email. She had no clue what I was talking about. Looked at my account. Nothing. I told her “fine, I’ll just continue to be a very unhappy customer” her response “ok! Bye!”
  25. Wife just pulled the golf cart in the garage in front of my car (had to go around my car). Cut it too close and now I have a large new scratch on my left front bumper. “I thought if your front made it by you were good” Followed by “I’ll get it out with a magic eraser tomorrow” It’s not coming out with a magic eraser. It’s gouged in.
