  1. They want to drum up drama before we fuck up Oregon State in the final.
  2. So supers on left side of bracket (our side) are all Fri/Sat/Sun, right side on Sat/Sun/Mon. This ensures we would play on Friday in Omaha. Is it purely up to ESPN to decide who gets afternoon or night game? I'm currently set to land in Omaha on Friday at 2pm so trying to decide if I should change my flight in case we somehow get bumped up to the afternoon game. Would think a rematch with Tennessee would ensure the prime time slot but then again... NCAA.
  3. Wow... would love to land this guy. What is impact of transferring with respect to service requirements?
  4. That or most of the posters on this board in college.
  5. Imagining a CWS field including Texas, A&M, OU, Texas State and Arkansas. Would make for no shortage of shit talking in Omaha.
  6. Bumping. Last night had a motherfucker cancel a 7 month old VRBO reservation for the first weekend. I think it's bullshit that you can be past the "refund" date as the renter but the owner can just pull the rug out from under you on the busiest weekend of the year with no consequence. Now paying 3x for a shittier place because there were no options. Any food/bar recs are appreciated. Staying near the Medical District but will obviously make way downtown / to ballpark so anywhere between works.
  7. Have posted this before (I think) but updated. Ivan compared to college 1B drafted in first two rounds in last 10 drafts. He's a year older but I tend to give him a pass on that given starting at a JUCO plus the whole lost pandemic year. I would think the bat alone gets him picked in first two rounds but I am also not Keith Law.
  8. For the Omaha veterans... assuming we punched a ticket to Omaha, at what point do we know 1) which bracket we are in, and 2) what time our first game is? Looking back a few years, it seems they alternate between the winners of the 1-8-4-5 and 3-6-2-7 supers being in Bracket 1 (games on first day) but not perfectly clear. If I'm looking at things right, this year would be year for 3-6-2-7 to get first day, meaning we wouldn't play until Saturday. You guys see it same way?
  9. Somebody give this guy a trophy or ribbon so he will stfu about this.
  10. I know committee will say RPI isn't everything but purely based on past RPI/selection data, we'd be getting fucked if we didn't host. Big 12 currently ranks #3 in conference RPI. We have the highest RPI in the conference. If you look back at RPI data at time of selection (before tournament) from 2002-2019 (couldn't find RPI data at time of selection for 2021- just final): So from 2002-2019, there's never been a team with the best RPI in a top 3 conference not be given a 1 seed. In fact, they've been a national seed 87% of the time. Even if you scale back the criteria, it seems like we should be in great position.
  11. Ridiculous to think elite recruits are signing with aggy for any reason other than their recent success on the field:
  12. Yep. No combination of dirty glances, shushing, or reasoning were going to have an impact on this fucker. In the moment, I definitely would've seen a kill shot as justified. See JM is going through Iowa City in June- you going to make it out? Feel like I remember you saying you're around DSM so not sure how easy that trip is. Have definitely dealt with same shit at JM's full band CC shows. No less infuriating, but at least a little more understandable how dipshits pour in from the street having to check the ~Austin music~ box for novelty sake. Part of me pities them for not being able to see/appreciate what's in front of them. But also fuck those people for doing their best to ruin it for everyone else.
  13. Caught McMurtry Gallery show again last night. Cover bumped up to $15 now but I wouldn’t blink paying 3-4x that every week for the quality of the show. I try to not be uppity and understand that people are out to have a good time. And I don’t at all expect everyone who shows up to be a diehard or even familiar with McMurtry. That said- wherever you fall on that spectrum, I can’t understand how you can walk into his acoustic set at The Gallery and be an oblivious and obnoxious asshole. Some piece of shit tech/finance man-child literally talked over half of a song on his phone at the bar. On multiple other occasions James softened his strumming to a barely audible level as to clue captain fuckface in that nobody wants to hear him and his buddies (who eventually read the room and I think were embarrassed) talking during the music. Even drew a “really?” mid-song which I’d never seen from James. Played Hurricane Party and the rest of the room let out a relating / appreciative cheer to the “sit your drunkass down” verse. Show ended with JM unplugging for Blackberry Winter and walking right up to the smug fucker’s table to play right in his face. Rather than even an ounce of self-awareness setting in, prick just doubles down and tries to start an obnoxious clap for the third time of the night, which of course nobody joined. Not sure if I’ve ever been so surly at a show. Might all be worth it if we see a eviscerating tune penned in that asshole's (lack of) honor. Rant over. Go support and enjoy McMurtry if you haven’t in a while. Guy is one of a kind and I can’t believe how lucky we are to have him so accessible in Austin.
  14. Something like this should accomplish what you're looking for then: I would also add a drop down list (Data->Data Validation->Allow: "List" and set your "Player" column as the source) to select the players in your matchup section (I guess that would be column D in my example).
  15. Are you saying that all you need to do is refer to Player X in a cell and have his handicap pop up in the next? Easiest way to do that would be index / match combination. If you’re saying you want to refer to Player X and have a formula to automatically determine Player Y by some criteria (closest handicap?), that would take an extra step.
  16. Why don’t you just keep a fuzzy blankie in the glove compartment? Always there when the wife is driving home and it gets too chilly for you. Conflict avoided.
  17. Also of note- Ivan is up to 21 bombs through 42 games played. Team is guaranteed at least 16 more games (12 regular season, = >2 Big 12 Tournament, = >2 NCAA Tournament). At current pace, that gets him to at least 29 bombs, passing Kyle Russell's school record of 28 in 2007.
  18. Seeing our walk rate in line with those staffs was most surprising thing to me as well. It's just felt so much worse. Makes you wonder how much of the pitching woes have been bad luck / attributable to environmental factors that I won't try to isolate or quantify (competition level, ballpark factors, weather, etc). When I see that we are striking hitters out at a pace higher than before & giving up hits in line with past staffs, that doesn't tell me that we lack the stuff / are more hittable. Can't ignore that our offense is also leaving the yard at a clip almost 2x as high as last two CWS squads... maybe some of those environmental factors have made the staff feel worse than they really are. At any rate, these metrics still suggest this team is capable of getting to the show. Still hard for me to square that with some of the bad losses as of late but good to see us taking care of business this last half week or so.
  19. Updated performance vs recent CWS squads:
  20. Didn't realize how solid he has been recently. Since getting touched up a bit against USCe, in 8 appearances in last 6 weeks or so:
  21. Shut the fuck up, dumbass. Or keep talking shit, maybe Mitch reads Surly. Last night: Daly: 2-3, 2B, BB, HBP, 2 Runs Todd: 0-5 1k DC: 1-4, 2k's Mostly kidding... I'd love to be wrong and Daly to return to 2021 form but need to see it against better pitching. I didn't actually get to watch game last night so no clue how much the results matched the quality of the approaches / AB's.
