  1. Saw something about Stony Point HS on twitter
  2. I happened to be in the area yesterday so I stopped by the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, one of the main places pressing hard to produce as many artillery shells as possible. I was curious as to where it actually was, and it's right there in the middle of all kinds of things. Anyway, hookem to everyone busting their ass to increase production of such a sorely needed item right now.
  3. Um, yeah... THIS Brisket is BEST Brisket. Thanks for sharing
  4. Goddammit. Slaughterhouse next door is a staple for snorkeling, including swimming around the point into Honolua. Fantastic area to chill for a day.
  5. The up-armored Humvee, which includes a gun turret, was taken from the vehicle depot at 2850 Leah Avenue sometime between the evening of November 22 and the morning of November 28 after a suspect or suspects entered a fenced-in area.
  6. many pictures in the slideshow, and SIAP, but Zelensky announced as Time's Person of the Year He's got to have an early but huge lead for Person of the Century.
  7. Hard to believe I've read 1,000 pages of this, and I still look forward* to reading updates each day thanks to the quality and variety of sources and perspectives offered. * What I really look forward to is the day that this thread is no longer needed, or superseded by a thread about the rebuilding of Ukraine. Fuck Putin, fuck Russia.
  8. My anecdote above aside, I do agree with this and the other posts suggesting there is more to this than we currently know.
  9. In third grade I often traveled an hour home from school - sometimes with classmates, many times without. Walks on either end of trains with two line changes along the way. Granted this was in Japan and safety was much less of an issue, but to think a 10 year old doesn't know how to walk home from a mile away is just severely shortchanging the intelligence of a young person.
  10. Like with countries not named Russia things actually work - consultation, cooperation, etc. - instead of 100% straight up lies and war crimes?
  11. Saturday's game is cancelled. I've said all along that whatever the players decide is the way it should go. But shit I wish there was another week to regroup, process, and prepare for a final home game. The atmosphere and level of support would've been massive and hopefully incredibly meaningful. I'm going to go to the Va Tech game assuming that happens and I imagine it will still be hugely emotional. My daughter will likely come home later this week as most activities are moving online through the Thanksgiving break.
  12. Nice, personal perspective from a prof on two of the guys thread continues
  13. Luckily my daughter was in her dorm at the time, but she is in the CMB and they rehearse/warm up/etc. right there. She had several friends caught out that were locked down all night in less comfortable situations - fortunately the inconvenience was all it was. Luckily this sounds like more of a crime of passion than someone planning to take out as many people as possible. I'll guess we'll find out more soon. Anyway, Davis was definitely a player I've noticed at games - 6'7" at receiver and athletic, always hoped he would get more targets. It's been a terrible season for UVA football, so I really hope they can end it on a better note than this (if they want to play - whatever they choose as best for them is fine with me).
  14. There is too much to do in a week, but some things I didn't see mentioned yet: Harajuku on Sunday Hiroshima ^^^ Try Okonomiyaki. I prefer Hiroshima style, but Osaka style is good, too Baseball - schedule won't be announced for another month or two, but baseball in Japan is an experience
  15. Damn, this should be cross-posted to any number of threads in Food and Travel. Goddammit that looks good.
