  1. They’ve got an absurd vintage spirits collection.
  2. Oh hell yeah, that’s awesome! I’m not going to act like I’m a regular of the 2+ star Michelin scene, but I’ve been able to go twice and it’s my favorite special occasion experience. Excellence without the austere formality you typically get in that range. Are they back to the dinner party format? We last went in 2021 when you could have your own table, which was nice. For pre/post dinner drinks, Beehive nearby is good, as is Shotwell for a dive bar. If you want to go all out, what is basically Lazy Bear’s bar, True Laurel, is a few blocks away. My favorite bar in the city. edit: fuck it, now trying to get tickets next month for our anniversary.
  3. Ah gotcha, just head over to Fillmore for whatever you need then. I will say that Mattina is a new spot right down the block from Enso that’s great for coffee and breakfast, have been hitting it up frequently lately.
  4. Are you staying at the Hotel Kabuki? Nari, the Thai restaurant there, is one of my favorite places in the city. Daeho Kalbijjim is an awesome Korean BBQ spot across the street, be prepared for a long wait though. You can also walk around the Japan Center Mall and square, tons of great tiny sushi stalls - my favorites are Oma and Sasa. The area is walkable but I don’t find it particular enjoyable. The area between Geary and Fulton can be quite sketchy. You’re right off the Fillmore and Divis districts though, and there are tons of places. The Progress (American), Anchovy Bar (Seafood) and Copra (Southern Indian) and right next to Japantown, as well as Boom Boom Room for late night music. LMK if you need any rec for anything in particular.
  5. There’s a fine establishment on Iberville between Felix’s and 21st Amendment with plenty of plush leather seating.
  6. Bringing a 10+ crowd into French 75 is a terrible idea. Sazerac too, now that I think about it. If you don’t want to trek over to Frenchman I’d say do Carousel Bar and some dive bars near by like Absinthe or Chart Room.
  7. Galactic at Tip’s or Juvenile and Mannie Fresh at the Saenger.
  8. That is exactly the comment I expected from DWS, holy shit that’s great.
  9. What are prices like in desirable neighborhoods in Seattle proper? Took a gander and blown away at what $1.5M gets in Queen Anne gets you compared to…anywhere in the Bay or LA.
  10. I’m sure he got advice on this but I imagine the Franchise Tax Board will go hard after him based on they acted during the IPO boom. Gonna ask our tax guys, pretty interesting.
  11. If I-10 is a shitshow around Baton Rouge, it’s easier to take 90. This gives you the opportunity to eat at Spahr’s in Des Allemands, an institution. Or you could hold all the way to New Orleans for Mosca’s.
  12. Yep, and the Gris Gris chef, Eric Cook, is a great dude. Going through hell with the city on his other restaurant in the FQ right now so definitely go support him.
  13. San Francisco is 75% SFH and the BoS is fighting like hell to keep it that way. That’s why it’s the most expensive city in the US.
  14. You realize most of those places are bastions of NIMBYism that have had very little development for decades and the motivating force for initiatives like HOME, right?
  15. Man I just can’t muster up the courage to go back after the hep c outbreak.
  16. To be fair, old people are technically not the future of anything.
  17. Yeah, that place has changed a ton over the last decade. 6-7 years ago Polly brought in the Boucherie folks to do the food, and she just retired and sold to the Blue Oak BBQ folks last year. Beer list has gone downhill but the heyday of the beer bar was a decade ago anyways, still a LGD and Mardi Gras morning staple.
