  1. So, knocking off the rust, but found some interesting results when I pulled up flight history for the jet that Sark first landed in Austin on right after his hiring was announced. Here's where it has been over the last month (many of them multiple times - have marked that where I remember that being the case), categorized by conference of "potential connection." Recognizing the audience here is surly, I have denoted the more tenuous/speculative connections with "?". If you subscribe to the theory that this plane is involved in this whole ordeal, the stops clearly suggest that the SEC wasn't the only conference we were kicking the tires on. B12: Oklahoma City and Norman, OK (OU), multiple times SEC: Nashville (Vandy), multiple times Knoxville (Tennessee), multiple times Kansas City (U of Missouri?), multiple times Atlanta (Auburn/UGA?), multiple times B10: Columbus, OH (tOSU), multiple times Minneapolis, MN (Gophers), multiple times Chicago, IL (Northwestern), multiple times Indianapolis, IN (Hoosiers) Detroit, MI (UM) Marion, IL (U of Illinois) NYC area (Rutgers?), multiple times York, PA (PSU?), multiple times ACC: Atlanta (GT?), multiple times Miami, FL (The U) Boston, MA (BC), multiple times Washington, D.C. (Maryland) South Bend, IN (ND), multiple times Canandaigua, NY (Syracuse?) Charlotte, NC (any of the four NC-based schools?), multiple times P12: Los Angeles, CA (USC, UCLA), multiple times San Francisco and Napa County, CA (P12 HQ / Cal Bears?) Phoenix, AZ (ASU), multiple times Seattle, WA (UW) Portland, OR (Ducks?) Other: Indianapolis, IN (NCAA HQ) Stamford, CT (NBC Sports HQ), multiple times Los Angeles (ESPN?), multiple times
  2. Now imagine that the Alabama program circa 2006 is for some (weird, time travelling related) reason in UT's shoes right now, then consider whether your logic and confident prediction would similarly apply / make sense. Hypothetically, of course.
  3. Been out of it since page ~300. What'd I miss? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hyphen there is grammatically incorrect /messageboardgrammarnazi
  5. Well, this would certainly qualify. Giving the surrounding cast, I don’t think one position coach necessarily breaks us. That said...you have a blank check for asssistant hires, some well-respected established as well as rising stars under consideration (Vandy/FSU dude discussed) with development and/or recruiting chops, have proven the UT program is again a place where even badasses with limited connections to the already-hired coaches are willing to leave good gigs so long as the price is right (Kwiakowski, Banks) - and you squander that opportunity for an abject failure in the coaching and personality/like ability department? Fucking really?! Oh, AND his last name is Stoops? Beyond idiotic. Definition of insanity, etc. (see UoB thread), but I’m in the denial phase here and am choosing to believe for time being that something else is at play here. Sark is doing Stoops a publicity solid by putting some lipstick on that cock gobbler for any other programs kicking his tires or on the fence about seriously considering him for an opening - Stoops and Tennessee would be a great match for one another. Or, Occam’s razor: the 9.95ers don’t know shit. Please 8-pound, 6-ounce, newborn infant Jesus, let it be so.
  6. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. It’s almost as if I have non-surly responsibilities that have kept finding a new one from being top of the to-do list. But RollLeft, just because you’re special, would it help you sleep better at night if I went to Google and quickly pulled one of a some scantily clad babe with bolt-ons or a generic picture of DKR, or perhaps of my home NFL team’s current or past stadium? Would that be cool, or is that too played out...maybe one of a pet monkey then? Please let me know, I’ll be here putting off life and eagerly awaiting your stamp of approval.
  7. I think that caveat has moved from a dead, beaten horse to an unidentifiable pool of bloody mush at this point. So agree, it just goes without saying haha.
  8. For fear of stating the obvious, even without our collective PTSD from Charlie’s and Tom’s initial staffs, every surly poster save trolls and and the Pope of Pessimism would have been happy with this slate of assistant hires if presented at the onset of the search as a hypothetical. It’s not perfect and there are a few that deserve scrutiny, and I don’t mind the scrutiny because that kind of discussion is kind of the life blood of CFB message boards. But I, like many others, have renewed optimism for success of the program given who has been assembled and Sark’s calculated actions only a couple weeks out of the gate - and that’s after being down on the hire when it first happened. Absent an abysmal hire with the last defensive hire, this is easily a Top 10 staff in college football and has the potential to be even higher. We beat UGA and had stretches of success and what at the time appeared to be positive trajectory with a JV coaching staff led by a psychiatrist’s dream heading the charge. If you trust Sark’s coaching and program-leading abilities, there is every reason to believe we have the pieces to move from mirage to actual sustained success and, if we do that, you’re looking at a Bama-lite situation (at least early on) where any “B-range” staffers will be much more easily upgraded. You need a new HC regime jump out the gate on a path to sustained success and stability to be in a position to do that, and we avoided a three-peat nightmare scenario where initial hires delivered the silent kill shot before a single game was played and a year or two later you’re taking late-night trips to Tulsa to beg a G5 coordinator to accept your money whip. Be happy and optimistic my friends, you surly fucks.
  9. Interesting. Heyward seems to have a pretty good development record on the CB side of the backfield, so maybe Joseph as PGC focused on Safeties and Heyward focused on DBs could make sense? Similar to role Raymond has been speculated about playing. With Pete K. with good portion of responsibility for the LB unit, as mentioned a couple pages ago. Heyward seems to be a pretty good recruiter based solely on his bio, but not sure he would check the defensive “rain maker” box we’re hoping for.
  10. Lulz, apparently not keeping up as up to date on my Oregon/Boise State staff developments as I am UT’s. Well in that case cross him off the list! General point/question of who might be a logical candidate from Oregon still stands.
  11. Further Update: Just noticed a jet just arrived in Sandpoint from North Bend, Oregon. Its registered owner is the same as the owner of the jet that flew from Seattle yesterday and arrived in Sandpoint within 10 minutes of the CTJ/Eltife jet’s arrival. Anyone from the Oregon staff that would fit the bill for UT’s final defensive hire? Andy Avalos, whose title at Oregon is “DC/Edge” coach, was the DL coach under Kwaitkowski at Boise State. And Keith Hayward, their “Co-DC/Safeties” coach, was DB coach at Washington under Sark and followed Sark to USC where Hayward was Passing Game Coordinator and DB coach.
  12. Out of curiosity, dug into this jet as well that’s on its way from Austin to Seattle. Tail number is N46HA and it’s registered owner is SIM Air LLC, an entity owned by Ron Snyder (the “SIM” stands for “Snyder Investment Management.” Ron is a Boulder grad and Colorado-based entrepreneur who was previously the CEO of Crocs. Just noting for those interested and since it makes it unlikely this is the plane bringing Pete K. to the forty.
  13. Yes, for those that avoided the UOB thread, this is the same jet CTJ confirmed met with Urban in both Los Angeles (twice) and Fort Collins (once) between October and early December. Pete Kwiatkowski also coached and played in Idaho at Boise State. It’s just under an hour-long flight between Seattle and Sandpoint, ID, so a logical meeting point. And beginning to doubt my sleuthing skills as I can’t find much info on Pete’s hometown, but Bonner County real property records show there are two properties in Sandpoint owned by a 70-something year old Stan Kwiatkowski.
  14. Update: The CTJ/Eltife jet touched down in Sandpoint yesterday at 12:15 p.m. PST. This jet originating in Seattle landed in Sandpoint at 12:09 p.m. PST yesterday (and is the only fight from Seattle to Sandpoint for at least the last two weeks - as long as FlightAware records go back): https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N248SE 👀
  15. Not sure if related, but the CTJ/Eltife jet did a couple rounds in TX before hopping over to northern Idaho yesterday (Sandpoint area).
  16. Tail No. isn’t shown on FlightAware but confirmed it is N424FX. Owned by a group that includes Group 1 Auto out of Houston, and a John Walter that looks to live in Dallas and have contributed a substantial amount to UT Southwestern. That said, it’s a Flexjet so who knows.
  17. Yes, it is. Posted about it on page 326 of the Urban thread. Interesting.
  18. Nope, not seeing any Austin--Athens. But there's a jet going about to go Athens --> Fort Worth that's owned by Houston restauranteur Edd Hendee (Taste of Texas, etc.). Looks like his family has ties to UT, but he appears to be a Cougar High grad - so doubt there's anything there but figured I'd note.
  19. Noticed the edit. Does "working on it being a done deal" mean there's been an agreement in principle on all material terms and it's just a matter of papering it up, or does it mean they're still negotiating big points but are close to an agreement in principle? Minor but important distinction.
  20. Same situation: commercial, yes; private, no.
  21. Checking now, BRB.
  22. Nope, not a single private flight from Detroit area to Austin area yesterday. Either it wasn't a direct flight, he flew commercial (wouldn't be surprised) or on a "super-blocked" jet like Sark did the other day, or the Twitter dude is spinning bullshit (also wouldn't be surprised).
