And while I recognize Wisconsin is a slightly different animal than UT and Leonhard appears to be a golden child there, I could also see their AD having some degree of hesitation over elevating someone to HC that (currently) has only been a coordinator for four seasons and a CFB coach for a total of five. -

Just did an new survey of recent arrivals and inbounds to all ATX-area airports (ABI, Exec, HSB, Georgetown and San Marcos). No planes from MIA leaving after final whistle of the championship game have arrived yet. There are only two currently in-route or scheduled that would be here before the 4 o'clock presser: the one already posted/discussed in the thread that's in the air and arriving at 10:39 a.m. local and this one that hasn't left MIA but is scheduled for a flight arriving in Austin at 2:22 p.m. local. Absent another one popping up last minute, it has to be one of those two. Also, not to fan the flames, but the sole scheduled/in-bound flight to Georgetown Muni airport right now is coming in from Baraboo, WI airport, which is about 35 miles from Jim Leonhard's home in Cross Plains, WI (40 min travel). For reference, the Dane County airport in Madison is roughly 20 miles from Cross Plains (30 min travel). Probably a glitch in the matrix but a fun happenstance observation. -

Yeah, same plane I posted last night. Think that’s the one. -

Would he come into ABIA? What about Austin Executive Airport? And didn't they fly out of Georgetown when going to get Sterling Gilbert? Checked all MIA area outbounds and, for Austin, Bergstrom, Exec, HSB, Georgetown and San Marcos. Obviously a new one into any can be scheduled sometime between now and tomorrow morning, but this is the only one I found. -

Agree and checked FLL and OPF as well. The one posted was the only scheduled inbound flight from the MIA area between tonight and early side of tomorrow morning. -

Don’t see any flights from MIA area to Austin tonight, so the below is my best guess of Sark’s carriage to town. Arrives tomorrow at 10 a.m. local. Apologies again for the false alarm earlier (Madison plane). https://flightaware.com/live/flight/XOJ790/history/20210112/1330Z/KOPF/KAUS -

Update: In a strange turn of events, the plane did a complete 180 and (based on the latest trajectory/attitude I can see) appears to be descending towards St. Louis.... Mea culpa for the hype, just reporting what I see. -

He's only been a DC since 2017 season, so stands to reason he might fall under the "Arnett category" of a guy who might not have an infamous rolodex and be amenable to Sark and Co. assembling a dream team around him. Also, he's the DB coach at UW.... -

Not to jump the gun, but the CTJ/Eltife jet left Miami earlier today, bounced around a few spots in TX (San Antonio, Fredericksburg, Addison/DFW) and is on it's way to what appears to be Madison, WI. Disclaimer being that this plane has full-stop blocks on its FAA data, so no nice FlightAware text log of original/destination and the like - have to use a bare-bones (visual) software, so I won't be able to confirm destination for certain until its about to touch down. Anyways, I disgress. Point being it's made some curious stops given the timing/situation and it looks to be on trajectory for Madison, home of UW. Home of Jim Leonhard, rising star DC for the Badgers that has been rumored as a target for the LSU search. Not saying IT'S HAPPENING, namely because he's a UW letterman, has been courted for other jobs before and seems loyal to the program, but quick search shows he only banks about $1.23MM per FWIW. -

On it, will take a look post-game and post details for planes of interest heading MIA to ATX. Still catching up on the thread but hope there's a stake-out group being assembled. -

The CTJ/Eltife jet has been in Miami since about 8'clock night of the 7th, so that's a safe assumption. -

Of the potential coaching targets that Josh Brown has followed, have you checked to see which of them have followed him back? If the thought is that JB is in some way involved in the hiring or onboarding process, that would seem relevant since most people have their Twitter account set to where they can't be DM'ed by anyone that they don't follow. -

There's zero chance Sark has a blank check for assistant hires, and has in turn demonstrated that he is swinging for the fences on his hires, but despite that has even a fleeting thought of keeping Coleman in anything but an off-the-field role. I would say stop being overreactive and regarded over the "lack of specificity" in a post by Jeff fucking Howe who knows less most 9.95er's (in a year where it's clear that's a lower bar than normal), but surl gonna surl. -

Our SP+ defensive rankings for 2020 do look very similar to 2013. Ash = younger Gerg with hotter wife? -

For those curious, here's a breakdown of this season's analyst stables at Bama and UT. Bama had thirteen analysts this season: three former CFB HCs: Charlie, Major and Stoops; four NFL vets: Shiloh Keo (five-year vet), Nick Perry (six-year vet), Javier Arenas (six-year vet), Alex Mortenson (Chris Mortenson's son, UDFA that spent one year on Titans practice squad); three former CFB players, all with prior GA/analyst/coaching experience: Gordon Steele (Kevin Steele's son, played DII ball and later OL coach at Murray State and GA at South AL and LSU); AJ Milwee (good QB at North Alabama and later a GA there and OC/QB coach at Akron); and Johnathan Galante (played under Beamer at VT and later a GA there); and two "GA Joes": Bert Biffani (previously a GA with Jimbo at FSU and then aggy); and Patrick Reilly (previously a GA/analyst with 'Cuse and UCLA prior). Compare that to UT's seven analysts, would be eight if you count Casey Horney (who's a QC coach, which many schools bucket with analysts) but he's a piece of shit and subtraction by addition: one former CFB HC: Everett Withers (was HC of Texas State and had HC stops at James Madison and (interim) at UNC, also was DB coach at UT in Mack's early years and with the Giants year before taking UT analyst gig) one other former CFB coach (not HC): Dave Huxtable (previously NC State DC/LB coach, has 35+ years of CFB coaching experience but none as HC); one NFL vet: Jeremiah George (four-year vet); two former CFB players with prior GA/analyst/coaching experience: Noah Joseph (played DB at Drake, previously coached safeties at Rutgers with Ash, before that safeties at North Texas, co-DC/safeties at Montana State and GA stops at Drake, E Kentucky and ISU); and J.W. Walsh (QB at OSU and later GA at TCU and RB coach at Abilene Christian); and two former CFB players with no prior analyst/coaching experience: Brandon Harris (QB at LSU/UNC); and John Miller (played WR at James Madison under Meh and Everett Withers). My advice to Sark after review: "You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers." Say what you will about Charlies, Major and Stoops, but (unfortunately) they're collectively worth at least 1.25 Withers. An interesting distinction between their former CFB coaches is that theirs are in the category of relatively young former HCs looking for a restart, while both of ours have been coaching since the 1980s and are likely more in the "not much gas left in the tank, I'm going to enjoy the twilight of my career and at least collect a paycheck for it" category. Other than that, aside for gross numbers at Bama, other distinctions I noticed are that Bama seems to place good value on NFL vets and we're lacking in that department. They also don't have any former CFB players without some previous stop in their coaching career, we have two. Clearly some work to do in both numbers and quality. -

Like others, I don't understand the hand-wringing over bringing in a big name that falls more on the "surer thing, more likely to have success and leave us in 1-2 years" over the "promising but slightly more risky up-and-comer who might stay a while." At this point in Sark's tenure, Year 0, give me the surer thing to leave us. If that surer thing leaves us for a HC or NFL job after a single year (or even two), it means he crushed it. It means UT probably had a very good season. And it means we're on a promising trajectory and more sure things or the Freemans of CFB that wouldn't come today would then see us as a solid platform for their career climb (or, at worst, a place they'd be comfortable going if the money is right - money isn't our issue). TLD;DR: Short-sightedness is what we need right now, IMO. Bring in the best people to get us in the best spot the quickest; things will fall in line once in that spot. -

Have there been any rumblings about Travaris Robinson as of recent? Seem to remember a mention way back in the thread, but not sure if it's because his name come up or it was reminiscing about T-Rob screwing us out of Tim Irvin of "Florida Five" infamy. Anyways, he's a Muschamp guy, coached at TTU under Tuberville and has some recruiting chops. Currently with the cocks, rumored that barn, gators and hurricanes all going after him for their CB spot. Would bring some ties to making FL and east coast recruiting inroads. Not sure of his rep from a technical standpoint though, but obviously well regarded generally with those schools all targeting him. If someone tells me has show cause priors, I'm in. -

As someone who would like to think he's pretty skilled at internet sleuthing, I can't find any info on an alma mater (though he proudly displays that he is an alumnus of Bishop Gorman HS), which suggests he did not go to college. NTTAWWT, but there's plenty wrong with FCG. -

If someone were to see a full transcript of that Golden interview, it would read like a UT hit piece. Acknowledges A&M success this year (beyond that, says if A&M were to have played UT this year, and UT won, Herman would still have his job), talks about Sark having a worse HC record than Tom, etc. When posed the question of "What evidence is there that anyone can turn Texas into a legitimate contender right now?" his reply, "There is no evidence." Have honestly never seen a local rag go out of there way so much to go on national television and shit on the program that largely helps keep said rag in circulation. FCG. -

In a surprise to no one, Austin "news" media is the worst. Just watched the Cedric Golden section and he not only likened what the AD/CDC did with the transition to treating the players as "cattle," but then he reinforced on rival network television the "too many cooks in the kitchen" trope with regards to a bunch of rich oilmen running the program.
