  1. Correct. I believe it was Patrick Hudson that signed (but later got out of) his Baylor NLI and then flipped to Texas. The man responsible for the Silsbee, TX navigation talk. Feel like he'd be in the list of productive "steals" if he hadn't been so snakebit with injuries.
  2. Out of curiosity, for each UT opponent other than Bama, I tallied the flags they received for holding (offensive only) and DPI in their five games against non-UT opponents. Breakdown below. Small sample size and all, but based solely on this, Rice and OU appear to be the only outliers. Rice Holding: 4 total (0.8/game average) DPI: 6 total (1.2/game average) Wyoming OH: 2 total (0.4/game) DPI: 2 total (0.4/game) Baylor OH: 2 total (0.4/game) DPI: 0 total Kansas OH: 3 total (0.6/game) DPI: 2 total (0.4/game) Oklahoma OH: 9 total (1.8/game) DPI: 3 total (0.6/game)
  3. I'm fairly certain that @LTtxfan might be the only other person in this thread, but here's an Athletic article (by Bruce Feldman): Texas is different, if not “back” — and opposing coaches and analysts agree
  4. Just finished him off. I can't help but participate in a good lunchtime fatwa.
  5. I'm quite familiar with the word and its uses, thank you. The way you're using it (the "capable of being compared" definition) is clearly not the same way that both I and the poster I was responding to were using it ("two things of similar quality/size/etc."), so maybe you work on reading comprehension before trying to grammar flex. I hope so, for his sake.
  6. UT and OU have the exact same Blue Chip Ratio of 70%. Their average star rating (247 composite) over the last four cycles is actually slightly higher. Could see an argument that their talent has not actually performed to potential at the level ours has. However, strictly speaking to on-roster talent per industry rankings, both teams are comparable.
  7. By my count, it's a total of 37 RZ plays this season. Or 36, if you net out one incomplete pass that drew DPI. Game-by-game summary below with totals, then broken out by RZ plays per drive (+ result of drive). Rice – 7 RZ plays 3 (FG) 2 (TD) 2 (TD) Bama – 14 RZ plays 7 (FG) 5 (FG) 1 (TD) 1 (TD) Wyoming – 8 RZ plays 1 (FG) 4 (TD) 3 (TD) Baylor – 8 RZ plays 1 (TD) 2 (TD) 1 (FG) 4 (Missed FG) RZ drives (14 total) resulted in points all but one time, and overall account for 53% of total offensive points (71/133) and 50% of offensive TDs (8/16).
  8. Assuming it's a 2024, best guess is that it might be one of the Tampa-area prospects. These guys have offers and visited UT at some point: TJ Moore (Clemson), Booker Pickett (Uncommitted), Jayden Jackson (OU). Solomon Williams also fits the profile, but expect it's not him given that his interest in UT is already very public - IIRC, he was going to visit last weekend.
  9. Wish this were the case, but it's simply not. One of his duties under the employment agreement, along with many others, is to "be responsible for the management and supervision of the football program at [ATM] . . . [which] include those duties customarily performed by a head coach at a major University" (Section 2.1). The definition of Cause includes "neglect[ing] or otherwise fail[ing] to perform his duties outlined herein as Head Football Coach in any material respect" (Section 5.1(a)). He would absolutely be fired for Cause if he just fucked off to Key West.
  10. "Ah, a dedicated QE thread...the perfect forum for lengthy debate over blocking assignments on a play where QE did nothing but hand the ball off." Surly gonna surl.
  11. Counterpoints: Texas has regularly had talent on both sides of the roster, albeit not as much as Bama, that produced shit-tastic performance despite said talent. If any fanbase can admit high-level talent can be squandered, it's us. Some credit (even if partial) has to be given for getting on-field results from the talent you have to work with. Sark (offense / play calling / QB development) and Flood (OL) both have significant skins on their resume even if you net out their Bama years.
  12. To be fair, those were B12 refs calling the 2022 game. Feels strange to say, while Bama is known to get their calls, there is some comfort in the fact that it will be an SEC crew on Saturday. Fuck Brett Yormark.
  13. Holy fuck, time truly is a flat circle jerk. We've now reached the Sark-era equivalent of "Strong should focus on recruiting and the DC role, get a de-facto HC assistant to handle the rest."
  14. I agree. And to your point, one example of his skittishness was critiqued earlier today by the longtime TXHS coach that Burton had on his show. The critique was Quinn's hasty decision during the first 3rd down of the game to tuck it and roll/run despite the fact he was under no pressure. He ditched a super clean pocket and, along with it, two good locking reads on the left side of the field (JT and AD) he would have otherwise seen. Here's the timestamped video (1:10 in).
  15. If the kid himself is to be believed, which I'm more inclined to do given his distain for the recruiting circus, he recently told Sam Spiegelman that he decided on a school "about a month-plus ago" and currently feels even more confident in that decision. If CTJ and certain 9.95'ers are to believed, this isn't an NIL-focused recruitment, such that one wouldn't expect this to be a last minute bag battle with schools jockeying for position down to the wire. With that backdrop, what schools other than Texas were under serious consideration about a month ago? OU and tOSU were squarely in the top group, but last I checked neither have since moved their campus closer to Lafayette, and OU hasn't skyrocketed up the USNWR rankings. A&M was viewed as a blip on the edge of the radar, largely written off in the "just a hat on the table" category with LSU. If this was a NIL-focused recruitment, the alleged A&M "resurgence" would mean a lot more. The only school that checks the "location" and "academic" boxes AND was in the contending group when McKinley said he made his decision? Texas. All of the last-minute 9.95'er reporting is noise for clicks.
  16. There’s only one correct answer here, and I’m disappointed it hasn’t been given yet.
  17. Yes, he said all of those things at points over the last few years. Also, thank you.
