Severance (Apple TV)
In my experience the networks themselves really don't give you comprehensive recaps- probably because they prefer that you re-watch. I pretty much use this guy for all of my show recaps. I imagine that his delivery can grate on some people, but the content is always great.

Silo (Apple TV+) - Premiers May 5th
I read them all. For me to have done that they must have been good. Honestly, though, I remember very little beyond what was depicted in the first season.

On what subject should you be considered Surly's resident expert?
I'd be willing to guess there's a few virgins here that technically got you beat.

Surly Jazz Thread
Hmm. There's a shit ton of what I'd call ambient jazz on that list. Not my normal jam, but that's cool.

Didn't @MissingInAction actually win a contest on that many years ago?

‘24-‘25 Non-Texas Winter Thread
That's pretty gnarly. Hope you have some back up heat if the power goes out. ISU can speak for himself, but my guess is that Northern Iowa is going to be largely spared from the precipitation. I'm a little further North and it's cold but calm. 4 degrees now with a high of 12. No big deal

I doubt it. Lot of experts here.

On what subject should you be considered Surly's resident expert?
Subject/topic/skill can be broad or very specific, I'm just looking for confidence that no one else here is better at it, or more knowledgeable about it. I'm pretty boring, so I'm more interested in your responses, but if I had to offer an example I'd say I probably know more about the "sport" of curling than anyone else. Not that I'm all THAT great at it, but purely because of the demographics here. Guesses as to other posters' expertise is welcome

RIP Jeff Baena (husband of Aubrey Plaza)
Baena was born in Miami on June 29, 1977. He graduated from New York University Film School and headed to Los Angeles to begin a career in film. He landed a job as a production assistant for Robert Zemeckis and worked on several of his films before landing a gig as an assistant editor for Russell. Baena’s breakthrough came when he co-wrote I Heart Huckabees (2004) alongside director David O. Russell. The film, nominated for the Gotham Award for best feature, followed two “existential detectives” who strive to solve the meaning of a series of strange coincidences. He made his directorial debut in Life After Beth (2014), which he wrote as well. It starred Plaza as the title character and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival that year, when it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize and eventually released in theaters by A24. His next project, Joshy (2016), starring Thomas Middleditch, also bowed at Sundance with a Grand Jury nom before being released by Lionsgate. Baena also wrote and directed the Plaza-starring The Little Hours (2017), nominated for the audience award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and co-wrote, directed and produced Horse Girl (2020), which starred Dave Franco and frequent collaborator Allison Brie. Both those films debuted at Sundance as well. In addition to Plaza, survivors include his mother, Barbara Stern, and stepfather, Roger Stern; father Scott and stepmother Michele Baena; brother Brad Baena; stepsister Bianca Gabay; and stepbrother Jed Fluxman.

Do we know what kind of leave of absence she was requesting? I find it hard to imagine that they were telling her she'd be fired if she didn't show up to work today. I work at a place with stellar benefits, but if the same thing happened to me I'd be paid for as long as the sick time lasted and given an option for leave without pay after that.- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
