  1. The latest spin is right up there with "jew-ish". I wasn't trying to trick the people, I was just trying to trick the party. CaN"t YoU SeE, iT's DiFfErEnT. ... with is little "don't tread on me" pin. This fucking guy.
  2. Borowitz has had a satire column for a long time.

  5. If I'm not mistaken, this is just the motion for Summary Judgement. I'm honestly kind of hoping it does get denied because I want to see these weasels squirm on the stand.
  6. Everything you need to know. Right here: https://int.nyt.com/data/documenttools/redacted-documents-in-dominion-fox-news-case/dca5e3880422426f/full.pdf
  7. Found it in the tweet comments: "Sunk-Cost Fallacy" "the phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial."
  8. What's the term for this kind of argument? I know there is one, but don't remember.
  9. George lashed out today against fellow New York congressman Ritchie Torres, who faced some angry constituents at a recent Town Hall meeting. OK, but this was yesterday... https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/george-santos-office-protest-congress-b2283131.html
  10. Meh, that one's a stretch for me. She was at that time a model, being interviewed by a style magazine, talking about posing for pictures. Getting in to character IS super important.
  11. This new batch of politicians reminds me of aspiring WWE wrestlers. It doesn't really matter who you really are or where you came from. Pick a persona that you think will resonate, choose heel or hero, settle in on some tag lines and one liners for the camera, and generate as much attention as you can early(good or bad).
  12. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-red-light-district/202110/10-facts-about-pathological-lying#:~:text=Pathological lying lacks classification per,(i.e.%2C factitious disorder).
  13. John Stewart says in the clip just a few posts up that shameless people can do the most shameful things. And I'm on record that shamelessness is an evil superpower on par with invisibility and x-ray vision.
  14. I'm mostly with you there. There's one possible exception though who the NYT discussed in a recent article about his office back in Long Island. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/30/nyregion/george-santos-district-office.html Sure, everyone on Santos' staff is going to use some version of this line. But this dude is is retirement age, at the local office (not Washington), and has ton of experience in the position. Hopefully through him the people of Long Island gave at least one dependable person in the district.
  15. I like this one: This is 2019. He had settled on his grift but hadn't fully developed his character yet- here he's just a trendy(ish) gay kid from Queens. He also didn't really understand government speak yet, as he clumsily demanded payment from the Democrats' "congressional, and Senators, and whatever salaries they get."
  16. He means that there are older, authentic tweets from Santos that say same or similar things. For instance there's one of his from 2 years ago in which he calls Biden a pathological liar.
