  1. the report i read sounded like it was a rescue in progress but who knows
  2. it's weird that no one noticed she was missing for a week. it's my understanding that her car has been at the trailhead the whole time so it seems unlikely she's sitting in an airbnb. she either fell off a cliff or got in a car with someone.

    Burgers

whatever seasoning they put on their fries, it isn't good. also, give me real ketchup. burger is good though.
  4. viben and the submersibles is an unforgivably bad band name. if they aren't a jamband they really should be.
  5. kool milds because we stole them from my friend's dad. camel turkish gold when i was buying my own. haven't smoked in 20 years.
  6. just saw that google lists guzzi up in alpine as permanently closed. that sucks, place was good every time i ate there and was one of the few places that was consistently open.

    Texas BBQ

this has been my experience as well
  8. think i bought their entire discography for like $20 in college and rediscovered them during the pandemic. all of their albums are pretty bleak with depressing lyrics but there's a refreshing honesty to them as well. really feels like someone exercising their demons. all of the songs have interesting arrangements and great production. think i appreciate them more now than when i discovered them. have that same turntable that i also bought off craigslist, but from a guy in pflugerville.
  9. Flaming Lips were way better than the last couple of times I've seen them. Played 2 sets...Yoshimi in its entirety then another hour and a half of songs. As always it was a visual spectacle, and it was mostly the same stuff as the last time i saw them a decade ago. I did find it slightly distracting that all of the lyrics were on the giant screens, was like watching a concert with closed captioning...couldn't help but read them. Wayne Coyne still can't really sing and is a real applause whore but he's likable and the band sounded great. Glad I went.
  10. flaming lips playing all of yoshimi tonight at acl moody. been a while since i've seen them.
  11. looks like he played a couple of concerts this year, lafayette and fayetteville. and there's this: https://www.pbs.org/video/hardly-sound-jandek-preview/
  12. for those in austin looking for WS gear...academy didn't have shit and dick's still had plenty of shirts and hats around noon.
  13. saw jandek in 2005 at the scottish rite theater in austin. read about him in college and one of my buddies ordered like 50 albums for $50 and we still listen to 1 every year on a roadtrip to colorado. most of it really isn't even music. the live show was exactly what you would expect, fucking weird. i read an account from the backing band at one of his gigs and they basically said they didn't even meet him until right before the show and he just told them to improvise.
  14. marfa burrito is average at best, have never understood the hype. it's a place you have to eat because nowhere else is open.
  15. djunah- chick on guitar/vocals and a dude on drums. they had some interesting songs and her voice was good at times, they were kind of all over the place in terms of style. interested to check out what their studio work sounds like. rickshaw billies burger patrol- still the best live band in austin. played several new songs that were super short and heavy. new album "big dumb riffs" coming out in february. crowd showed up for them despite the rain/cold. pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs- english psych/doom metal. lead singer was engaging and had good energy. i prefer their newer songs that are shorter..the old stuff drones on a bit much but they were good.
  16. Militarie Gun- too much blink 182 for me. Not enjoyable in the slightest. Amyl and the sniffers- insane energy as always. Crowd was nuts. Great set. Ghost funk orchestra- psychedelic jazz/soul. Vocalist was great and the horn section killed it.
  17. High on Fire and Uncle Acid were both loud as fuck. Had never seen either of these bands, was a good night.
  18. ecstatic vision- they were trying really hard to be the stooges but they sucked. a lot of noise. dead meadow- been a while since i've seen them. didn't blow me away but they were solid and definitely have their own blues/psych sound. felt like the vocals were kind of buried compared to other times i've seen them.
