saw the freaks on parade tour at cota on saturday. got $25 tickets from that live nation sale earlier this summer. filter: they only played for 30 minutes and they played the hits. didn't realize how many filter songs i'm familiar with. lead singer can't sing anymore...maybe never could, but he can still scream. they were fine. ministry: i have an appreciation for what they do, but i've never gotten into ministry. they were very repetitive and i have a feeling half the people on stage were not playing an instrument, and al jourgenson was certainly singing along to recorded vocals. alice cooper: he's still a performer and he put on a good show. all the same theatrics from when i saw him several years ago but it was entertaining...snakes, multiple people killed on stage, giant stage props, etc. the band sounded good. he has 3 guitarists, one of them being nita strauss. rob zombie: impressive array of video screens and various moving stage props. at one point he got everyone to scream and then he said we weren't any louder than fans in new jersey. this elicited boos from the crowd and he asked "what, do you hate bruce springsteen or something?" to which i was able to enthusiastically scream YES! so thanks for that, rob. he only played 2 white zombie songs and i'm not very familiar with his solo stuff but it was fun. 1965 is a fucking jam.

no, i don't think so. she mentioned that she had a stroke last year and that's the reason she can't play guitar anymore. she had a considerable amount of trouble getting on/off the stage.- Is there a thread to talk about how much Bon Jovi sucks?
he was shooting a music video on the bridge. she wanted to jump because she heard the song.- Concerts you are attending
mike campbell and lucinda williams last night at acl live. picked up some $35 mezzanine seats right before the show. lucinda did an incredibly boring set, mike campbell did a set, and then lucinda came back out and did a couple of her songs with mike campbell's band and they covered some tom petty songs. it was painful listening to lucinda sing out of time and off key to the tom petty songs, just absolutely mangled them. mike campbell was trying to gently guide her along but it wasn't helping much. mike campbell's set was alright but overall not a great show.- What's the Foo up to?
grohl has a tight grip on his image. taylor hawkins' cause of death has never been released, definitely hush money. the rolling stone article that came out after his death where matt cameron and chad smith partially blamed grohl...statements retracted. he does a great job of curating his nice guy persona. shit was about to be leaked or there's no way he releases that statement. also, cheating on his wife is exactly what he did the last time he had a bandmate die.- Artists referencing their own song
nin, only. 2:50. "the tiniest little dot caught my eye and it turned out to be a scab". reference to down in it.- You want a challenge...Healthy Restaurants downtown??
this- Tom Petty kicks all kinds of ass
- Sandwich hall of fame
went to katz's deli last week on thursday at 12:30 expecting a gigantic line and there was no line at all. waltzed right in and had the best pastrami i've ever tasted. the cutter told me they use flank steak, which i found surprising. split the sandwich and even half was too much.- Pearl Jam
finally marked seeing pj at msg off the list. the energy in that place is truly unmatched. we were in the upper deck but it wasn't bad at all...and props to everyone for standing up the entire show. not my favorite setlist but it was solid.- Tom Petty kicks all kinds of ass
newly released video. love this song.- Concerts you are attending

saw the black angels play a stripped down, semi-acoustic set at the new austin chronicle office last night. sounds like this is something the chronicle is trying to do regularly kind of like the tiny desk concert series. it was in their courtyard with maybe 100 people there and free beer from abgb. good scene, felt very old austin. black angels were great as always.- Pearl Jam

Listening to records this weekend and I noticed 2 occurences of this. I'm sure there are many more... 1. Tom Petty- U Get Me High. 1:13 in the video clearly calling back to Don't Fade On Me from Wildflowers. "I remember feeling this way you can lose it without knowing. You wake up and you don't know which way the wind is blowing". 2. Spoon- They Want My Soul. 2:17 call back to Jonathan Fisk. - Concerts you are attending
