went last weekend and it was good. thought the dishes were more interesting than aba. the menu was confusing and didn't really give a great description of what you were getting...we got one thing that ended up being a fish taquito. we sat outside but the inside did seem very loud and the service was quite slow...we were there for over 2 hours with a table of 5.
  2. won tickets to dead meadow on thursday night so i guess i'm doing 4 nights in a row of levitation.
  3. she was only around for the 1st album. my understanding is that she didn't really know how to play any instruments and just memorized what keys to press for those songs. she's still friends with the band, i think she might be a photographer now.
  4. as much as i love the black angels, they have a history of playing my least favorite songs from their albums. i always enjoy it but leave thinking that it could have been much better with different songs. personal preference though, i get it.

must've been there 10 years at this point.
  6. i was at the fair when the shit went down on saturday night, it was pretty wild. we were in the midway by the ferris wheel and suddenly a stampede of screaming people was running towards us. immediately assumed it was a shooting and we ducked behind a coupon booth while all the panicked people ran past. we didn't hear any gunshots and the panic died down after a few minutes...but then the sirens went off over the PA and it started all over again. we couldn't hear the announcement from the PA due to all the screaming so i have no idea what they said. there were people still riding all of the rides and the screams from the people on the rides would periodically set off another stampede of people thinking something was happening. police helicopter was circling the whole time. eventually we found a cop and he told us it was safe but everyone should evacuate. definitely got the adrenaline pumping for a few minutes. the aftermath of abandoned wagons, baby strollers, midway prizes, etc was post apocalyptic looking.
  7. got 2 in section 112 during the sale this morning. floor were available but not paying that price.
  8. saw people putting their vape in the little personal items bowl that bypasses the metal detector, security didn't give a shit. saw multiple groups of kids passing around bags of shrooms and molly. if you can't sneak drugs into acl you're not very good at it...i mean there's not even a pat down.
  9. the well/high on fire/uncle acid on friday die spitz/militarie gun/amyl and the sniffers then ghost funk orchestra on saturday rickshaw billies/pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs on sunday my intense hatred of brian jonestown massacre will keep me from seeing the black angels for the first time in the history of this festival.
  10. how much shit are you bringing that you need a locker? plastic water bottle and a pocket full of joints did me just fine for the 3 days i was there. unless children are involved, i can't imagine what other supplies would be required to stand around and listen to music all day.
  11. based on her performance with the foo fighters, shania can't sing. honestly she ruined the song.
  12. yes i love doug sahm and don't think he generally gets the respect he deserves. rarely mentioned when people talk about the great austin songwriters. always a classic:
  13. definitely saw that guy, i was a little bit to the left so thankfully it wasn't impeding my view.
  14. Day 3 was significantly less crowded, way easier to walk around between stages. Walkmen- didn't know anything about them going into the set. they definitely reminded me of the strokes...and i don't like the strokes. not for me. most entertaining part of the set was the gray haired old man and the 20 something kid in front of me that were nose to nose yelling fuck you and about to come to blows over where to stand. Breeders- this is the only set of the weekend that i felt the sound was really bad...just a muddy mess. otherwise they were enjoyable. Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Karen O is an incredible performer. this was the set of the weekend for me, they absolutely killed it. Death Grips- holy shit that was intense. there were moments of extremely heavy greatness, and that drummer was just nonstop crazy drumming. but also i couldn't understand any of the lyrics and it got extremely repetitive at times. not sure i would see them again but it was entertaining. got out of there after death grips, the closers didn't interest me.
  15. Yesterday reminded me why I stopped attending the festival 10 years ago. Just way too many people to be enjoyable. Kingfish Ingram- fun set, good to see some blues in the acl lineup Shaed- the singer had a great voice and the songs were catchy. Not normally into this style of pop but they were good. Alanis- she sounded great and everyone sang along to every song. Tove Lo- she had a band so points for that. Thought it was fine. Foo Fighters- they were the foo fighters. Other thoughts 1. What a beautiful day! Sunset was gorgeous. 2. Trying to exit to Barton springs after FF was absurd and kind of scary. 3. Saw a lady who brought her own foot stool to stand on. 4. Did not know individual yellow bird packets existed.
  16. Oh yeah saw brother thunder as well and they were pretty good.
  17. I also noticed the $2 tip thing at the beer stands with no option for "custom tip". Total bullshit. National Parks- the epitome of boring neo folk. Not good. Bailen- good harmonies, uninteresting music. Abraham Alexander- decent soul in the vein of Leon Bridges but pretty forgettable. Blond:ish- it's a rave Portugal the Man- decent Bass Drum of Death- easily the best band all day. Garage rock with grit. Maggie Rogers- not bad I guess, not my thing. Mars Volta- other than the 20 minutes of jazz noodling between songs they sounded good. Funny to see the lead singer old and fat. Guitarist is still a tiny man. Lumineers- I can't stand this music Kendrick Lamar- not into karaoke, get a live band. The drone show before the set was cool.
  18. not deal with 75,000 people mainly. the logistics of getting down there and into the festival is the biggest hurdle for me. i'm into rock, all kinds of rock and blues.
  19. won a pair of 3 day passes and still not sure i want to go. haven't been in at least a decade and there's not much that excites me on that lineup. looks like good weather though so maybe i'll get out there.
  20. QOTSA and Viagra Boys in Denver last Friday was fucking awesome. Viagra Boys were the opener, played a short set and it wasn't my favorite setlist but they still killed it. QOTSA are sounding exceptionally good and the new material sounded fantastic live. Turnin' on the Screw and God is in the Radio ripped hard. Didn't close with Song for the Dead, which was a bit of a bummer.
