  1. the nude party at scoot inn. it was an entire crowd of the people who stand in the back at stubb's. every motherfucker there was talking through the entire show. exacerbating the situation, the music was not nearly loud enough...the conversations that normally get drowned out by the music were, unfortunately, all too audible. had to get very close to the front before i felt like i was actually at a concert. they sounded good but i didn't care too much for the setlist, felt like every time they got a little bit of energy going they followed it up with a slow song. they picked up some steam towards the end and finished strong, could have used a few more songs though.
  2. they would've done better had they chosen a weekend that wasn't psych fest and eeyore's birthday.
  3. Psych fest was killer. Night Beats were the standout for me but all the bands were good. The venue was woefully under prepared for a festival. Bathroom lines were absurd, 30+ mins. It was faster to leave the venue and walk across the street to torchys, which I did multiple times. Only 2 food trucks and each had a massive wait. 2 coolers of water that were empty every time I tried them. Excellent lineup of bands though.
  4. it's a ticket exchange run by ticketmaster where they don't allow the ticket to be marked up from face value.
  5. a place to bury strangers last night at mohawk. they always put on a hell of a show. strobe lights, smoke, and a shitload of noise. very enthusiastic crowd, clearly excited for psych fest this weekend.
  6. Couldn't disagree more, terrible place to see a rock show. tiny seats/aisles, awful bar setup, not enough bathrooms, uptight old lady ushers roaming the aisles, not conducive at all to standing up during the show. for the most part i actively avoid shows at the paramount and bass.
  7. not doing the first ft worth show, but i also went 3/3 with ten club. all reserved seats but whatever.
  8. Went to batch last night. Everything I had was miles better than anything I'd had there before. The Polsch collab with live oak was excellent. No pink peppercorn seaweed stouts in sight.
  9. they haven't gone on sale yet, even through ten club.

    Burgers

went to the new top notch in hutto last weekend and it was straight up 100% terrible. no redeeming qualities. they were busy as shit but somehow the burger was cold, the fries were cold, and the fried chicken was garbage.
  11. i've always found it weird that there's not a central theme to the state park merch...like one designer that creates a sticker/shirt for every park. some parks have great merch and some are complete shit...and the shitty merch is often at a good park (looking at you pedernales falls).
  12. same. will have to give them another try.
  13. saw brooks nielsen at antone's last night. think i'm probably the only growlers fan here...he played about half growlers and half from his solo record. really enjoyed the new band and the reworked growlers songs. didn't love his solo record at first but it's grown on me, and those songs were way better live.
  14. because they aren't touring? or are there pj austin rumors?
  15. went to pedernales falls on saturday, it's a trickle. there's not going to be any water in that river in july.
  16. It's far from my favorite tom petty song but singing along in an arena full of people was pretty awesome, every time.
  17. good call on tia carrera, try to catch them a few times every year. used to see them religiously at room 710 for their friday happy hour set. do the melvins qualify as stoner rock? i think so
  18. i saw orange goblin at barracuda or red 7, whatever it was at the time...and there were about 20 people in attendance. don't think they've come to austin since. it was a good show. also saw them at sxsw that same year and they incessantly complained about the "broiling fucking heat", it was about 80 degrees and quite pleasant.
  19. $15 can of electric jellyfish? get the fuck out with that shit.
  20. among NIN fans, it's definitely not underrated. the favorite of many hardcore fans.
  21. always laughed seeing the name super heavey goat ass in the chronicle, only saw them live once. swedish stoner rock...
  22. Pavement is fine, but would never consider them stoner rock.
  23. for a long time i didn't realize it was steve winwood playing on this track, until i happened to read the liner notes one day.
  24. definitely agree that emory peak is not a very exciting hike, as far as peaks go. south rim is a much better option.
