  1. right across from the landfill, nice.
  2. Drunk old dude in Fredericksburg bought us a round because he liked our dog staring at him through the window. Wish this happened more often.
  3. camped at south llano river state park this past weekend. sitting around the fire and heard something over by our van, got up to inspect and it sounded like it was coming from inside the van? upon further inspection it was coming from the engine compartment...figured it must be a mouse or a rat. opened up the hood and there's a ringtail sitting next to the battery staring at me. i watched it for a minute and it appeared to be chasing a bug or lizard. all my years camping i think that's only about the 4th ringtail i've seen in the wild, did not expect it to be in the engine compartment. was concerned it had chewed some wires or something but everything was fine.
  4. +1 for cooley being an amazing lyricist. gravity's gone i think is my favorite, so many great lines. cocaine rich comes quick, and that's why the small dicks have it all.

  6. Created between January and September 1971, this docu-film takes us on an intimate journey to Young’s farm in Northern California for the ‘Harvest Barn’ sessions, to London for an iconic performance with the London Symphony Orchestra and to Nashville where the then 20 something Neil Young worked on various tracks of this signature album. The feature is a fan piece that has never been seen before. Performance and rehearsal content is intertwined into creative storytelling and includes most of the tracks from album Harvest (released in 1972) including “Heart of Gold”, “A Man Needs A Maid”, “Alabama” and “Old Man”.

that hockey game was awesome but it's been gone for a few years now.
  9. Levitation was incredible. King Gizzard was as good as ever, just absolutely destroyed Stubb's and the crowd was so into it. Frankie and the Witch Fingers and the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets also had fantastic sets. Lots of trippy lights and good costumes. Great energy all weekend.
  10. i remember touring his house with my parents when i was a kid..but it wasn't like touring graceland. he still lived there, dirty dishes, dog shit on the carpet and all.
  11. Gotta love Levitation: Friday: Acid Dad, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets Saturday: Alex Maas, Hearless Bastards, Murlocs, Tropical Fuck Storm, King Gizzard Sunday: Frankie & the Witch Fingers, La Femme, Black Angels
  12. had a meanwhile tender robot last night and it was delicious. don't know if it was just an exceptionally fresh batch or what, but it was way better than anything i've had from them before.
  13. i legitimately know people who will no longer see spoon live because they find him so annoying. i'm not that extreme but he's a little much.
  14. One of the few things I agree with jj on, underdog is also one of my least favorite spoon songs.
  15. 86-89 is not being treated fairly, plenty of now classic albums: 1986: Paul Simon- Graceland Metallica- Master of Puppets Beastie Boys- License to ill Slayer- Reign in Blood 1987: U2- Joshua Tree GnR- Appetite for Destruction Prince- Sign O The Times Michael Jackson- Bad INXS- Kick 1988: Jane's Addiction- Nothing's Shocking Pixies- Surfer Rosa Traveling Wilburys- Vol 1 Metallica- And Justice For All NWA- Straight Outta Compton 1989: NIN- Pretty Hate Machine Nirvana- Bleach Tom Petty- Full Moon Fever Stone Roses- s/t Beastie Boys- Paul's Boutique
  16. need more metrics to know for sure. for know i'll keep them in my top 5 least favorite of all time.
  17. i don't think it has anything to do with young people. most people don't use music theory to justify why they like/dislike a song or album. no amount of discussion about time signature, chord construction, and vocal register is going to convince me that cheap trick is a good band.

    Pink Floyd

the changes to the phrasing of the lyrics killed me. that thing he did in fearless...you say the hill's too steep to cli-eee-imb. you say you'd like to se me try-eee-i. not into it.

    Pink Floyd

it was good and they all seemed to be having a lot of fun playing those songs. nick even got a few barbs in on roger, "there will be no more political talk so no need for anyone to go to the bar" ha. he seemed genuinely happy that there is an audience for the early pf music. i will say, compared to seeing waters or gilmour this felt more like seeing a pink floyd cover band. thought the band was at their best when playing the longer instrumental songs...set the controls, saucerful of secrets, atom heart mother, echoes. i love childhood's end and fearless but i felt like those songs just didn't have the same punch as the pf versions...but i did love that they played so much from obscured by clouds. the vocals, imo, left a lot to be desired...i just didn't really care for either of the guys who were singing. felt like the crowd would have had more energy in a different venue...i despise seeing rock concerts at bass. glad i went and it was enjoyable as a one off, but not sure i would go again unless tickets were a lot cheaper.
  20. things that have never been said about UM fans for $1,000.
  21. gwar last night at empire garage. if you can't have a fun at a gwar concert there is something wrong with you. they eviscerated putin, performed an abortion on stage, spewed blood from a duck billed platypus, and killed biden and trump...all while fighting off their gwar counterparts from another dimension. the amount of blood and jizz was impressive.
  22. Saw spoon last night in zilker. First time attending party for the parks. There were maybe 500 people there and a lot of them didn't seem interested in the music. Easily walked right up to the rail about 5 mins before they started. Was pretty cool being in the empty festival grounds. Spoon was great, good mix of stuff from all their albums...been too long since I had seen them.
