  1. need more metrics to know for sure. for know i'll keep them in my top 5 least favorite of all time.
  2. i don't think it has anything to do with young people. most people don't use music theory to justify why they like/dislike a song or album. no amount of discussion about time signature, chord construction, and vocal register is going to convince me that cheap trick is a good band.

the changes to the phrasing of the lyrics killed me. that thing he did in fearless...you say the hill's too steep to cli-eee-imb. you say you'd like to se me try-eee-i. not into it.

it was good and they all seemed to be having a lot of fun playing those songs. nick even got a few barbs in on roger, "there will be no more political talk so no need for anyone to go to the bar" ha. he seemed genuinely happy that there is an audience for the early pf music. i will say, compared to seeing waters or gilmour this felt more like seeing a pink floyd cover band. thought the band was at their best when playing the longer instrumental songs...set the controls, saucerful of secrets, atom heart mother, echoes. i love childhood's end and fearless but i felt like those songs just didn't have the same punch as the pf versions...but i did love that they played so much from obscured by clouds. the vocals, imo, left a lot to be desired...i just didn't really care for either of the guys who were singing. felt like the crowd would have had more energy in a different venue...i despise seeing rock concerts at bass. glad i went and it was enjoyable as a one off, but not sure i would go again unless tickets were a lot cheaper.

  6. things that have never been said about UM fans for $1,000.
  7. gwar last night at empire garage. if you can't have a fun at a gwar concert there is something wrong with you. they eviscerated putin, performed an abortion on stage, spewed blood from a duck billed platypus, and killed biden and trump...all while fighting off their gwar counterparts from another dimension. the amount of blood and jizz was impressive.
  8. Saw spoon last night in zilker. First time attending party for the parks. There were maybe 500 people there and a lot of them didn't seem interested in the music. Easily walked right up to the rail about 5 mins before they started. Was pretty cool being in the empty festival grounds. Spoon was great, good mix of stuff from all their albums...been too long since I had seen them.

  10. have tickets for one of the nights at stubbs in a couple weeks and i'm a little worried about that myself. last time i saw them was 2019 after Rats' Nest came out and it was fucking killer.
  11. i watched most of the hulu coverage over the weekend while doing stuff around the house. glove is the only band i had never heard of that really stood out as enjoyable. thought goth babe was corny as hell. not really into kacey musgraves but she sounded good and looked like she was wearing a bad wig. spoon and the war on drugs were both excellent.
  12. I've seen him a few times recently around town after not seeing him for years.

That was my 6th time seeing him and by far the most political. Also the most solo material I've seen him play. The neutering of comfortably numb was a very Roger thing to do. Definitely made me want a Gilmour tour, Roger singing wish you were here just doesn't sound right. Overall quite a spectacle and very enjoyable. Sheep was great.
  15. was surprised to see that dave navarro isn't touring with them. seems like kind of a big deal. roger waters tomorrow night.
  16. agreed, strongly dislike rush but working man is a fucking jam.
  17. have seen zappa plays zappa 3 or 4 times...first time was at hogg auditorium on campus. the first 2 times were great and the second 2 times were pretty terrible. don't think i would go again.

  20. As long as you're even with or in front of the sound board stubbs is good. Behind that point and it's a sea of people talking.
  21. Jeff Beck and ZZ Top. Jeff Beck was boring, watched a 78 year old man noodle around on a guitar for an hour...his drummer was really good though. Billy Gibbons is still a bad motherfucker, the difference in stage presence between him and Beck was like night and day. They played all the hits you would expect. Just Got Paid, damn it just rips. Jeff Beck came back out for the encore and played 4 songs with them. Rough Boy was a surprise, and now I can say I've seen La Grange featuring Jeff Beck...although I think it would've been better without him.
