  1. thanks, yeah i was excited to get those back to see what they looked like. was very surprised and pleased with the results.
  2. My dad gave me his old camera that he hadn't used since the early 80's. There was still a roll of film in the camera so I finished out the roll. Got some pretty wild colors.
  3. saturday night at barracuda: nolan potter's nightmare band: progressive jazz rock. lots of weird time signatures and complex song structure. sometimes they're too out there for me but i liked this set. future punx: sounded like new wave mixed with devo. i liked some of it, particularly at the beginning of their set. by the end of the set i was ready for it to be over. mystery lights: old school garage rock. lead singer has tons of energy and a unique voice, and they write great songs. too bad there weren't many people there. the new album "too much tension" is one of my favorites of 2019.
  4. everyone in the world thinks phish sucks except people who are so stoned they would listen to a vacuum cleaner for 3 hrs.
  5. bought a six pack of sculpin the other day because it was the cheapest I'd seen it in years at $10.99. stopped buying it when they were charging upwards of $18 a sixer. still a good beer. on a related note, as much as I love PHP there's no way in hell i'm ever paying $18 for a 4 pack of their beer.

definitely not a fan of LED's on vintage gear.
  7. Damn, glad I saw him a few times. Watch the documentary if you haven't seen it...dude went through some shit and made some great music.
  8. did 3 nights in davis mountains state park last weekend. surprisingly it wasn't very crowded. did the 9 mile sheep pen canyon loop that's on the other side of the highway, really pretty hike. there's some primitive camping over there but it didn't look too great, very open and no shade. jumped in the pool at the indian lodge after my hike and my god that was refreshing (you're not really supposed to do that but nobody was using it and it's there so fuck it). sunsets from skyline drive were very nice. also highly recommend driving the davis mountains scenic loop. forgot how nice it is out there, had been about 12 years since i'd been to that park.
  9. Some cell phone pics from the davis mountains last weekend. Took a roll of film as well, excited to get those back.
  10. along with ok computer those 2 albums round out my top 3. what a weird take.
  11. cheap trick, bad company, zz top at cota. cheap trick is one of my least favorite bands of all time. i tried to miss their set but ended up hearing the last 4 songs which were awful. seriously, fuck them. bad company. never been a big fan but they sounded surprisingly good, paul rodgers can still sing really well for being almost 70 years old. one of those bands that i recognized every song but probably couldn't have named more than 3 songs going into it. zz top is a fucking treasure. billy gibbons can't quite sing how he used to but he can still lay down all the blues licks and his tone, my god his tone. just got paid with the extended guitar intro was the shit. something about an outdoor show in the spring with the smell of marlboros and dope wafting over the crowd and zz top blasting is just perfect.
  12. i like that album a lot. saw them open for the sword a couple years ago.
  13. acid dad and wurve at cheer up charlies. first time seeing anything on the indoor stage, it was loud as fuck in there but sounded good. i really like acid dad and i don't know how they aren't more popular. there wasn't even a cover...it was a suggested $5 donation at the door. hopefully they made some money, i made sure to buy an album from them. love their guitar work.
  14. the murlocs at barracuda. australian bluesy garage rock, the lead guitarist and harmonica player from king gizzard are in the band. good energy and they sounded great. all of their songs sound fairly similar, the ones where the lead singer was on harmonica instead of guitar tended to sound a little better. played for a little over an hour.
  15. the isbell songs on blessing and a curse really stand out as not fitting in with the rest of the album. they aren't necessarily bad...but they aren't great either.
  16. ex hex at barracuda. pop-punk garage rock with lots of good hooks and guitar solos. it was fun, and their new album is enjoyable...don't know that i'd see them again though.
  17. deerhunter at mohawk. have seen them several times and this wasn't my favorite setlist, that said it was still very good. bradford was a little too chatty between songs and had a couple long rants. britt daniel sat in for a song which was cool i guess but ultimately didn't add much. desire lines though is always awesome.
  18. this is possibly the most offensive post i've ever seen.
  19. christian bland & the revelators, cosmonauts, night beats at empire control room. cb & the revelators: the best set i've seen from them. the other guitarist from the black angels was playing with them and that helped fill out the sound a lot. their covers of interstellar overdrive and lucifer sam were really good as always. cosmonauts: had never heard of them but they were pretty good. garage punk/psych similar to thee oh sees. would see them again. night beats: first time seeing them with the new band lineup. second guitar and keys were a great addition and really opened up their sound. was expecting a bunch of material from the latest record but i think they only played 2 songs from it, and their set was really short...barely an hour. sounded great though.
  20. saw these guys last night and it was extremely good. if you like Sleep you should check them out. one of the loudest shows I've ever attended.
  21. the well and monolord at barracuda: somehow i've never seen the well, even though i've seen their name around town for years. they were good, sabbath style riffs and good bass grooves. it was their album release, picked up a copy and looking forward to giving it a listen. monolord was amazing. crushingly heavy riffs...just fucking fuzz soaked menacing dark massive sound. everything about it was good. reminded me a lot sleep. dude next to me was vaping something that smelled like waffles the whole time, it was like seeing a concert at a waffle house.
  22. for those in austin, monolord and the well tonight at barracuda.
  23. Funny how things that start spontaneously end that way. Eat a peach. - Neil.
  24. had my lyft driver stop at whataburger on the way home last weekend and ordered the patty melt. after consuming the fries i had a moment of clarity and realized i would enjoy the patty melt far more the next morning. woke up the next morning and popped the patty melt in the oven while i cooked some bacon and fried a couple eggs. added the bacon and eggs to the sandwich and my god it was amazing...and was followed by an hour long nap.
