  1. went last saturday. it was the least busy saturday that i've experienced in many years...there were no lines for anything. the card stacker guy in the hall of state is worth checking out, he had completed the ut tower and the cotton bowl, assuming he was going to start working on some sooner shit next. corny dog across from big tex was hot and delicious, birria bomb was great, stuffed wing was excellent, belgian waffle never disappoints. the drone show was cool until it turned into a ford commercial. $4 lone star still exists in the food building and the barn in front of the cotton bowl. start looking down once it gets dark and you'll find some tickets...ground scored $20 worth.

    Pink Floyd

finally finalized the sale of their catalog for $400 million. the gilmour setlists have looked alright so far, hoping for the addition of SOYCD at some point.
  3. don't know how anyone actually enjoys swimming in barton springs. the water is miserably cold even when it's 100+ outside.
  4. went to some place called carve last night at 45th and bull creek. ordered the bone in chicken fried pork chop and, sweet jesus, it was HUGE. didn't even come close to finishing, probably get 2 more meals out of it. for $26 it was a good deal. only complaint is that it was sausage gravy instead of cream gravy but it was still delicious.
  5. saw the footage of that a while back. he was definitely on his phone or something and just plowed over a dude. don't know what it is about klinghoffer but he just looks like a dude that would steal your stereo and pawn it for drugs. have never liked him.

    Sushi

never had a bad meal at kome.
  7. brooks nielsen of the growlers at the paramount last night. dig his new sound, the pedal steel was sweeeeet. he played some solo stuff then all of the chinese fountain album. the kids behind us were on acid and it was hilarious listening to their conversations between songs. the poor old volunteer ushers had a hell of a time keeping people from dancing in the aisles.

  9. accidentally saw a few minutes of sublime with rome on fremont street in vegas on saturday. imagine the crowd in vegas for a free sublime concert, it was worse than whatever you imagined.
  10. started off as a trio. early 00's to 2015 they had 5 touring musicians. 2015 to now they've been a trio.
  11. brotherton's had a chicken fried steak sandwich special last night so i gave it a try. significant drop off since the last cfs i had there. breading was not nearly as good. hate to see it.
  12. built to spill last night at empire. playing all of "there's nothing wrong with love" this tour. it's not my favorite album of theirs but, damn, it sounded good live. traces and hurt a fly also made the setlist, two of my favorites. first several times i saw them they were a 5 piece so i've always been a bit underwhelmed with their sound as a trio, but last night was really good.

  16. weird, i considered it could be him but i've never seen him without the jew fro. heroin, man.
  17. also, who is that on bass? never seen that guy play with them before.
  18. ate here a couple of weeks ago and it was great. reservations were easy to get. did this a couple of weeks ago as well. the train was easy and took a little over an hour from penn station to jfk.
  19. saw the freaks on parade tour at cota on saturday. got $25 tickets from that live nation sale earlier this summer. filter: they only played for 30 minutes and they played the hits. didn't realize how many filter songs i'm familiar with. lead singer can't sing anymore...maybe never could, but he can still scream. they were fine. ministry: i have an appreciation for what they do, but i've never gotten into ministry. they were very repetitive and i have a feeling half the people on stage were not playing an instrument, and al jourgenson was certainly singing along to recorded vocals. alice cooper: he's still a performer and he put on a good show. all the same theatrics from when i saw him several years ago but it was entertaining...snakes, multiple people killed on stage, giant stage props, etc. the band sounded good. he has 3 guitarists, one of them being nita strauss. rob zombie: impressive array of video screens and various moving stage props. at one point he got everyone to scream and then he said we weren't any louder than fans in new jersey. this elicited boos from the crowd and he asked "what, do you hate bruce springsteen or something?" to which i was able to enthusiastically scream YES! so thanks for that, rob. he only played 2 white zombie songs and i'm not very familiar with his solo stuff but it was fun. 1965 is a fucking jam.

    David Crosby RIP

  23. no, i don't think so. she mentioned that she had a stroke last year and that's the reason she can't play guitar anymore. she had a considerable amount of trouble getting on/off the stage.
  24. he was shooting a music video on the bridge. she wanted to jump because she heard the song.
  25. mike campbell and lucinda williams last night at acl live. picked up some $35 mezzanine seats right before the show. lucinda did an incredibly boring set, mike campbell did a set, and then lucinda came back out and did a couple of her songs with mike campbell's band and they covered some tom petty songs. it was painful listening to lucinda sing out of time and off key to the tom petty songs, just absolutely mangled them. mike campbell was trying to gently guide her along but it wasn't helping much. mike campbell's set was alright but overall not a great show.
