  1. this is exactly it - it sits right in that space and then also just blends in with what everyone else is holding. I've had several instances of work things where on the walk back to the hotel with several fairly hammered people I've felt a little funny about not letting on that I'm completely sober. I started a new job - I've posted about that in here several times. It's good, it's a bit brutal in that I have young kids and this job (in which I'm largely responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of work for several teams working on embedded software for physical product teams in other parts of the company) has a high degree of interaction with India. I'm in the mid atlantic in the eastern time zone, but still my calendar is basically shifted 2 hours forward to create some everlap with India where I think currently 7am here is 430 pm there. So, my morning are fucking crazy - 7 am is the earliest I can get kids to daycare, wife works in Cary MWF which from Wake Forest is maybe like commuting from Buda to Round Rock and so I can't just pawn them off on her. I've been encouraging the Indians to schedule me at 6 am so I can try and do some of this stuff before the kids are even awake, but I'm also spending a lot of time trying to decipher thick Indian accents as I arrange sliced bananas on peanut butter toast in just such a way to make it pleasing for a demanding 3.5 year old while she asks for updates in the background. Anyways, surely it is true for some of y'all like it is true for me that a lot of the anxiety in the functional era of my alcoholic life was around sleep and getting up on time and getting to bed on time and physically being able to sleep. It is just crazy to think of how utterly incapable I would be of doing what I do now, how riddled with anxiety I used to be at the idea of being awake at 5:30 even once in a week. In a way kids cured my sleeping anxiety - I used to still take benadryl and chamomile and shit and then I just got so exhausted that it stopped being a thing. But still, I continue to marvel at what I'm able to simply adapt to as a sober person in the world.
  2. Jaylen Warren, although he hasn’t done shit, as well as Cordarelle Patterson also on the Steelers. So potentially some value from whatever scrub RB backs up Najee Harris this week, although I guess the Steelers run game has been weak across the board. I’m gonna jinx it but Coleman will have a good week on the Bills with Shakir out. He got blanked one week but has otherwise been right on his estimated points in the 6-9 range for my .5ppr league.
  3. Oh wait is this why fucking Sams of all places was completely out of diapers? Fuck, man

  7. I need to do that. There’s a pond in my neighborhood that’s a little…. hoa pond with the paved trail and the benches and picnic pavilion and what have you, but it connects to the Neuse and actually contains a lot of fish. Lots of people from the neighborhood fishing in the evening, and then we even get the folks coming from surrounding areas showing up with coolers and getting disapproving looks from Karens. I’m not a fisherman but that looks too fun not to learn.
  8. I don’t know what the nature of the sex crimes that are going to occur in that unfinished ground tube will be but they will be abhorrent. I squeezed in next to a shittily parked cyber truck at the pediatrician’s office yesterday and it is really such a ridiculous vehicle. The shape of the vehicle does not relate to the dimensions needed for a functional passenger vehicle. I don’t know if it’s mostly fisheye but the dash there is ridiculous. Can you imagine how awful the conversations between him and grimes were.
  9. The data indicates that he will soon be the world’s heaviest child.
  10. Man, of “guitars that got away” or even more broadly “things I didn’t buy that I wish I had bought”, I present the Hello Kitty Stratocaster. I don’t remember what they were listed for but I don’t think it was more than $200. I remember seeing one in a guitar center and thinking I should buy it and stash it under a bed because it’ll become collectible or I’ll have a daughter. These are about $700 on reverb now, I still may get one….
  11. I don’t know if I just got better at switching scale lengths or I had a string of bad Les Paul interactions, but uhhh I fink I’m starting to like the Les Pauls now Obviously I’m joking at Bonnamasa a bit but that’s a slick finish and a cool guitar. If I was a touring guitarist who primarily played my goldtop I’d be tempted at that for a backup. Would have to cover the case in stickers or stencils or something though. They should bring that finish back for Gibsons.
