  1. What a cool project. did Dreamcast launch between ps1 and ps2 by like a half cycle or was it a straight contemporary of ps2? It’s so funny thinking back to that era of gaming and then for me, that era of being in intermediate and jr high - so much of gaming had to do with haggling with parents. I missed the whole n64/ps1 era and only got the ps2 when my my mom died and I guess they thought I needed a distraction. I remember picking up GTA III at Best Buy with my buddy thinking it might be cool, and then basically sitting in front of the tv for hours in a daze. No game has ever been a revelation quite like that one.
  2. What message board does your wife post on I want to read that thread
  3. There was a thread a few years back where I was asking about Toastmasters. I had been curious about it generally just trying to find things to do as someone new to an area - with a bit more experience with it as an organization now I can say that it is not where I’d go looking for friends and is in fact kinda full of weirdos. But anyways - my last company had a corporate club that I ended I joining. One of the things that you do in every meeting is have “table topics” where you can volunteer to receive a prompt and then give a quick 3-5 minute speech on the spot. I am extremely glad I did that and got a ton of reps doing exactly that thing, because my interviews this time around all went great. Short version of what I’m saying is that if like me your problem is about of nerves and trying to keep your mind calm and relaxed as you both speak and attempt to come up with the next thing to say, the answer is reps. I think there may be some places you can find people to mock interview with. There is toastmasters. You could look for any other opportunities to do public speaking. And then past that, there’s basic stuff like STAR method, books about how to interview for different positions. I like to just fill my head with content - I was interviewing for a lot of product management jobs, I listened to a lot of Lenny’s Podcast leading up to interviews and I did find myself more easily accessing useful words and phrases to answer questions.
  4. To be clear, I’m talking about old ladies. Also Austin white people Tex Mex.
  5. I would eat the shit out of some Maudie’s right now.
  6. have they gotten the cvr audio yet? pilot could have been getting a blowie
  7. I think that people are kinda trying to just say "yeah different standards" and if I was one of those guys I would be constantly afraid of it turning into a conversation about how 13 year olds were always too young to be fucking
  8. yeah if I’m them I’m hoping just kinda dip out and stay under the radar till I’m dead. Honestly the Led Zep guys too. I saw them in The Woodlands in the… Pink era maybe. I think Get a Grip was the first album I bought.
  9. Well they took for goddamn ever but after a month and a half and I think 6 interviews I got the offer for that job today. Stoked to be out of the wilderness.
  10. https://www.reddit.com/r/raleigh/s/kA4HwGbMEq lulz, tesla service center in Raleigh uses an overflow lot down the street that literally overflows during big rain events.
  11. Yeah I’m not trying to overstate my understanding of the tech job market or even what kinds of people were likely impacted at Dell but I think it’s pretty competitive right now, maybe especially for jr devs. It seems like any product job getting posted has 100 applicants within an hour.
  12. Such a crappy market to get laid off into. T&P
  13. Ah good, so not aggy, congrats
  14. Musk also filed suit today against his second grade class for conspiring to not invite him to their birthday parties as well as all of his college friends for creating a second group text message without him in it.
  15. this is the first song of hers that I noticed working its way into my algorithms, and I looked her up to check that she wasn't a contemporary of kate bush for sure she's embracing the gay, although it's a different world than even 15 years ago in terms of how mainstream you can be while adopting a drag queen persona and singing a song about dancing at a gay club
  16. Hot To Go is not my favorite. Pink Pony Club is great and is the first song of hers that clicked for me, it’s no more boring and until than any of the other songs following the same basic formats that pop music (including boomer rock and certainly blues) has been made out of forever. Casual is really good but also I’m feeling very boomerish in how squeamish it makes me.
  17. I have that first live at ryman album and it sounds like shit. Just listening to this on my phone speaker but it sounds much better. Live From Alabama is still my favorite 400 unit album.

Just an absolute monster daytime crowd for Lollapalooza I don't know the whole biography, I think it's something like she was a minor youtube star for a second, got a record deal, well received record that didn't succeed commercially and got dropped, went back home to missouri, and then just absolutely blew up over the course of 2024. She's got something like 5 songs on the charts, she's kinda the biggest star there is right now or at least the hottest. Gen Z Madonna/Gaga. There's been some discussion in the girly pop songs thread but she's reached critical mass where even middle aged dudes who don't pay attention are starting or going to start seeing the name.
  19. if it was a coordinated effort to paint the Trump/Vance ticket as "weird" right before picking the most aspirationally normal person on the planet for VP, i don't know what has happened to the people who used to do dem strategy but i fear they may be dead
  20. This is my wife’s biscuit glove. She is afraid of the paper dough tubes that explode open a little bit when you apply pressure on the crease. So she keeps this glove here to use when I’m not home to open them for her.
