  1. I kinda regret the post I made yesterday, which was an honest reflection on the familiar feeling in sobriety of someone dying way too young and not really getting the story, but also in its own way speculating about YGIFS, which is what I regret. It sounds like he went out fighting. When he first popped into this thread it was a funny mix of feelings - on the one hand, most of us are egomaniacs on some level and that ten thousand percent clicked for me with him. Honestly it made me like him more - I didn't not like him before he started sharing in here, but when I realized that he was an egotistical asshole like me it turned that aspect of his style into a little bit of kinship. And then on the other hand, it's incredible that anyone could have been one of us and typed as many words as he typed without "slurring his words". Maybe I wasn't paying attention closely, but he never struck me as being a drunk poster. I never caught up with him one on one - I feel bad, we had an interaction early on in his participation here where in this thread I brought up his behavior in another thread as being relevant to his journey here and he took offense. I leaned back at that point and I never really leaned back in. But I was paying attention, and man I thought he was in for a rough time with the "let go" "powerless" type stuff and was impressed with the progress it seemed like he made. There's so much randomness and chaos all around us. It is tough to not try and understand why some people manage to escape the exploding death star and some just don't make it out. But it's fruitless to try and understand it. I'm so sad for those little girls, I'm so sad for him not getting to see the rest. A lot of sobriety was really clean for me when I was unattached, and having kids makes it hard. My heart breaks.
  2. a thing that sucks about sobriety is losing people. you inevitably get to know and care about a lot of people that die for one reason or another. and a lot of times there's a bit of mystery around it - I don't know what happened with YGIFS, I'm in shock at the other post from brisket in this forum, I don't care to speculate but it's not unusual as a sober person to sit and take it in that somebody is gone and have to choose not to speculate. fuck.
  3. He should legally change his name to Fooid Lion
  4. What was that last FSU game last year before they announced the playoff selection. Miami? This is like that.
  5. Conner Weigman cums while fumbling with the bra.
  6. He’s “hr has to tell him that his belly is lower than his shirt” fat.
  7. I didn’t realize Elko was that fat.
  8. Another hour and I’m going to have to call a doctor
  9. lol yeah the signup for the potluck had both tortillas and “soft taco shells” listed separately. People were skeptical and many opted for the stack Tia Rosa or whatever, but many compliments. Some asshole in a Sooner hat reached for the store bought before commenting “oh somebody brought homemade tortillas” and going for the good stuff, so I have to give home that. Folks went hard on the salsa.
  10. The 3 year old’s church preschool is having a block party to kick off the year. It’s a “fiesta” themed potluck. I signed up for tortillas and salsa. This is what I’ve been preparing for since we left Texas.
  11. This guy finds his way into my algorithms. And it’s often this kinda silly thing that makes me want to roll my eyes and move on but then I don’t and it’s actually good. Prine-ish
  12. jesus titty fucking christ
  13. spotify just put DBT's cover of "Mama Bake a Pie" and Dress Blues back to back, and that's a whammy of a couple of songs. but also this line is the kind of line that is just so perfect all by itself and one of the reasons Isbell is such a great songwriter - "American boys hate to lose"
  14. Loving it so far but obviously, new toy. I'm basically on vacation until the 9th so I'll have to try and put together some sounds or something. But I'm digging this a lot, it's doing the tele things that I never quite loved from my old one.
  15. Yup. I had been wanting to modify or replace my telecaster, and the Isbell tele got lodged in my head after the dnc performance and some of the discussion here.
  16. I never realized until now how absurdly heavy my other telecaster is. Twin House in Carrboro (which is an even smaller hippie town next to Chapel Hill) is a really cool shop, they didn't offer much for my 2012 American Ash Deluxe so now I have two proper teles. And I need to either sell the other telecaster or get new pups in it because this one does sound just much better. I'm not way into relic stuff but I do love the feel of this, and the kinda... non shininess already dinged up-edness of the whole thing. Can't get a good picture of the neck, but I'm sure I'll do a whole burst picture or something. Happy about this.
