I'll have no ill will if he does leave.Β  He stuck it out under a terrible owner and was always professional and got his trophy.Β  I hope Frank will find a way to keep him

I would love for him to be kept, but the guy is 32 years old. And unlike others, he doesn't appear to have that extra bit in his game that makes him dangerous (see Kane and Salah for example). If they can sell him and get serious money for him, I think that's the right move for this season.

I mean you absolutely cannot let him go on a free.

You're going to make chainsaw, Hank Kingsley, and all the other gossip queens in that thread very angry by supporting a Blake Lively vehicle.Β

Actually I was going to note that she plays the entitled bitch perfectly in this film. Wonder where she gets the practice?

Watching more for Kendrick than her.

This is not a good look from the Pulisics either. Dads need to shut up. Your son is 26 years old. He doesn't need daddy defending him on social media.Β

This is where I am. Few are looking good in this. If you want to take time off, fine. But taking shots by anyone really isn’t a good look.

    worth reading the entire thing.

Lando has a tendency to do this, and i’m torn, because part of me agrees with him, and the other part of me remembers LD refusing to just play full time for Everton in the EPL- something that would have been extremely important and influential for USMNT outfield players- all so that he could stay close to home, and close to his on-again-off-agin gf, and remain comfortable while playing in a farmer’s league. he has a point, but he’s a terrible messenger. he pussied out when he was playing, so it’s pretty much bullshit for him to be this mad at pulisic and co.

I went to X so you don’t have to:

    Β

    Quote

Landon Donovan, who was a pundit for today’s Spain v Portugal game, took shots at USMNT players sitting this summer out

β€œThis is what it means to represent your country. If you don’t want to take it seriously as a professional soccer player and someone who gets the opportunity to wear the jersey, then don’t come in,” Donovan said while looking at Portuguese players celebrating.

β€œ[Cristiano Ronaldo] is 40 years old, he played a long season, he was out there grinding and got hurt in the process. And I can’t help but think about our guys on vacation not wanting to play in Gold Cup. It’s pissing me off.”

In the post-match interview, Portugal’s Bruno Fernandes was asked where players get the strength to play after a long season. He answered that playing for your country is a dream for every player and that’s it. Donovan loved that answer.

β€œI’m beating a dead horse but I don’t care. I care about this country and I care about our national team. We don’t have enough of that, what you just heard. We need more of that leading into the Gold Cup and World Cup,” Donovan said following Fernandes’ interview.

β€œOur fans have that passion. We read it every day on Twitter. We see it in the stands. They want to feel that and they want their players to feel that too. These guys [Portuguese players] feel it.”

I would say there is a difference between club and country for this. You could even argue that there is something good about working to improve the league in the US.

That said, like Nap pointed out, the dude took time off from the USMNT and it cost him his 2014 spot. So calling out guys for sitting …

If that was the case, the files would have been released already. Β MAGA was deeply pissed the Trump administration said Epstein killed himself.

It’s a head in the sand thing. If the files aren’t released we can deny knowing who’s actually in the list, even though it’s likely all the names we would expect. I mean just look at pictures of who we have seen Epstein and Maxwell. You can guarantee anyone in any picture with them is on the list. We can keep our faux outrage while pretending they really aren’t on the list.Β

thanks for posting. I will check out the podcast.

Like you hit on, it's easy to point out there's a problem. And its cool to identify and/or vent about a problem. We all do it. But what are possible and realistic solutions.

It's like when I hear about a young person vent how it was so easy for boomer and gen x to buy their dream house at age 24 (spoiler, it wasn't easy or possible for most) but the person offers zero solutions to help younger people today with home buying. I agree there's a problem today but I don't know the solution either.

Galloway’s solutions are pretty basic - find and mentor a male kid in need. Go volunteer with Big Brothers. Help boys with no positive male role model to have one. Overcome this stigma that being interested in helping shape a young man’s life is something β€œweird”.

It’s really not that hard, it just takes effort.Β
