  1. On Vieira - that's a perfectly fine take. He might not be the right guy for the job. I have no issue with debating if someone is or isn't the right guy, so long as they have some track record that means they should be in the discussion (because the names I hear USSF throwing around aren't even close). I will note that the Vieira part is only a small part of the whole interview and tacked on right at the end. You don't need to listen, but I will tell you it is one of the few well reasons discussions on the state of US Soccer that has been had by the Mainstream media. Twellman and Hercules are right now the only guys doing that right now. Lalas - yeah, whatever. Meola and Davies are kind of ill informed. I will say this - if you have interest in and care about this team, you should listen. The guy talks about the federation demonstrating accountability, the approach this hire should be. It's some pretty smart talk. He does get silly at the end, but whatever.
  2. What did he say that was wrong or incorrect? Seriously, listen to the whole interview, 2 above Derka’s post. Please tell me what’s moronic about it. Because to me, he put out a vision that really give a short term and long term view of how to handle the USMNT.

    Austin FC

Jesus fire Wolff just like Berholderbthe guy has no grasp of respect from the team. That’s ridiculous
  4. Horse shit. I think that the Semis are our ceiling. Just look at Morroco in 2022. I won't deny that we don't have players with that dog in them, but I think with the right coach we could uncover a few of them in the next cycle. If it comes down to money for Poch decideing between the US and England, he better get paid more to take England because I don't think he would be allowed to ever go home if he took that job.
  5. This interview really outlines why an American or MLS coach is not the right answer (TL;DW: they lack experience for this role right now). But don't fall for TL;DW - EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THIS INTERVIEW But Twellman really makes a great point on why this job is SUPER desirable: It's purely team prep and your in the World Cup and you have 1 task - be ready for the World Cup. Hell, he even has a great sell for getting back to Klopp.
  6. To be fair if you swapped Berhalter and Wolff at Austin FC, there would not be much of a change. Austin would still aimlessly pass the ball around with no direction at all.
  7. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/soccer/news/copa-america-disaster-will-not-be-repeated-world-cup-2026/ad13bd9e98986853e1003790 Don't blame US: Copa America disaster will not be repeated when World Cup comes to North America in 2026 What will be remembered, as was the case with the Euro 2021 final at Wembley Stadium and the Champions League title game a year later in Paris between Liverpool and Real Madrid, will be the ugly scenes of soccer fans swarming the gates, backed up at the entrances for hours, and the kickoff delayed interminably. ... This looks like a massive blunder by American soccer officials: failing to plan security properly, to assure only ticket-holders were allowed to approach the stadium, to establish a gate-entry plan that would enable all who were entitled to enter in time to see the event they had paid to see. Many around the sporting world are asserting it’s a demonstration of this country’s lack of fitness to stage the FIFA World Cup two summers from now. U.S. Soccer, however, had almost nothing to do with Copa America 2024 beyond fielding a team. CONMEBOL, the South American confederation that staged this event exclusively in their continent’s venues for nearly a century, chose to exclude this nation’s governing body from the planning and execution for a simple reason: money. ... CONMEBOL wanted all of that this time, and so it merely paid a fee to U.S. Soccer for the right to play the tournament here. So the South Americans should get all of the smoke for behaving like the worst Airbnb guests: apparently failing to assure proper security for the families of Uruguay players at their semifinal against Colombia in Charlotte; fumbling the assurance grass fields placed over artificial turf would be properly established and fit for competition; choosing not to insist upon fields of FIFA regulation width and overseeing the preposterous officiating both inside the stadiums and in the replay booths. ... This was a CONMEBOL cash-grab, and it played out like that from the start.
  8. Would Klopp really want that job? Germany - makes sense US - I get it, a young upcoming team with little pressure, no qualification and a good showing and you've done your job England - High pressure, expectations and demand from the fans. I can't fathom for him he would want that.
  9. All of this talk about salary, we're really only bidding against ourselves. These jobs don't command the money being talked about.
  10. The 2020 tournament was hosted across the continent, with England getting the final.
  11. These guys are clueless (the guys in the video I mean).
  12. Adding the context of the search timeline mentioned, very damning for US Soccer. One last thing - WHY THE FUCK did they wait so long to even search for a coach?!!?!? I mean we know it was because they were bringing Gregg back. But the dragging of feet should have been the tip off.
  13. So clearly last of all the American soccer shows/coverages. Paramount and NBC/Peacock are the top for me. Getting run over by a bus is next Then Fox.
  14. Our national hero doing his part to contribute to the card count.
  15. 120 minutes down and nothing else after that.
  16. Dude, it already started. Why do you think this game is running so damn late?
