  1. God Lalas is a beating.
  2. Nah I’m sure Southgate still had some of it on the bench.
  3. What bottles the mind is that this should be an easy run to the final for them. And they are going to make it as hard and stressful as they can.
  4. Time to park the bus England. How bad can 30 minutes of pressure REALLY be?
  5. And Harry give them the lead!!!
  6. 0, 1 whatever it takes.
  7. Hes the beating heart that this team has lacked. They need someone to lead them and he does.
  8. But it’s not. There’s a wall, there is need to put spin on the ball to bring it down quick. It’s not just a regular shot. And he has to get that free header on frame.
  9. I would argue that a lot of good scorers are not good free kick takers. It’s a different skill set than scoring from open play.
  10. Harry is not a good free kick taker.
  11. But ThaTz nOT THe SpIRit of OffSiDeS!!!
  12. Goal England. Maybe scoring first is their undoing.
  13. This is the wrong view. This isn’t about winning. This is about setting the team up to be in a position to win. And that is Gregg’s largest failure as the manager. He has rarely setup the team to have the greatest chance at success. My problems with Gregg are not that he loses, it’s that so often the decisions he makes with this team put them in a position to lose. If I thought he gave this team every chance to succeed and lost, I would be ok with it. But that isn’t what’s going on with our team so see ya Gregg.
  14. I do not get the gnashing of teeth on this call. This is EXACTLY why the offsides rule was created. If any part of your ball playing body is beyond your opponent, then you are offsides. HIS FOOT is beyond the defense, it is a sport you play the ball with .... checks notes ... YOUR FEET!!!! I also don't know why people are down on VAR for this one - if you have an issue, the problem is the rule not VAR applying the rule. Exactly what is bullshit here? He is offsides, PERIOD. And he is offsides both in the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. And discretion? A. This is a black-white rule, so there is 0 discretion to be had here. Either you are beyond the player, or you are not. I really like rules like this. B. Exactly what discretion should be allowed? Oh, it's only a toe, so goal? Eventually it becomes we let the toe past, so let's let the whole foot go. Oh we're letting the whole foot, how about the leg? Etc, etc etc. Ref judgement is one of the worst things in the sports. We saw 2 nearly identical handballs in the Copa where they both went to VAR, one was called post review one was not and many people think the one not called was clearer a handball than the one which was called. Why? Because it ultimately comes down to judgement. When you have a clear rule, the need for discretion is 0. what do you mean not clear an obvious? His foot is offsides! Wenger's rule change would be cool, but would just shift the argument from is a sliver of him past the man to is there some sliver of him still covered by the defender?
  15. Yeah don’t get me wrong a lots going on. But the rules are clear on hands/arms to the head.
  16. How the fuck did VAR not review Canada-Chile? That’s an elbow to the face.
  17. That's Alexi's list, he is the idiot. No shock there huh?
  18. How do you post that without this?
  19. Berhalter's record is anything from 2019 here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_men's_national_soccer_team_results_(2010–2019)#2019 And everything from here except the first 12 games from 2023: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_men's_national_soccer_team_results_(2020–present) My thoughts Signature Wins: I'm not sure I see much in there that is a signature win. We beat Mexico twice in 2021, the Nations League Final (3-2 in overtime) was pretty epic. But that might be it in terms of wins Signature Draws: We drew a good England team in the 2022 World Cup. I kind of want to give credit for the draw against Brazil earlier this month, but I don't give a lot of thumbs up for Friendlies. Signature Losses: The ones that really stand out to me were: Japan friendly right before the World Cup, it started the alarm bells. Netherlands in the World Cup because we were never in it, Trinidad & Tobago in the Nations League, because we shouldn't lose to them. Colombia because 5-1 and Panama this week. I give negatives for friendlies when they appear to give you little to nothing. Thoughts?
  20. I have to ask, what are Berhalter's signature games? He's been our coach for 73 games and what would you call his signature results?
  21. Hagbard, your my boy, but the more I read this and the more I follow up, I just realize your math ain't mathing. 1. Read any of the following articles, the pay agreement is specifically between the USSF and the players, their CBA, and nothing shows that this applies to the coaches https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/18/sports/soccer/soccer-equal-pay-explained.html?unlocked_article_code=1.3U0.OKGM.iOip9vmVLkEr&smid=url-share https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/18/sports/soccer/us-soccer-equal-pay-deal.html?unlocked_article_code=1.3U0.xOOr.callCaI71J6R&smid=url-share https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2022/05/ussf-womens-and-mens-national-team-unions-agree-to-historic-collective-bargaining-agreements I challenge anyone to find an article that says we must pay the coaches equitably, the fact that Hayes was payed similarly was purely coincidental. 2. We have already established that Berhalter's bonuses have kicked his salary beyond what Hayes makes. 3. Finally, national team coaches doesn't have to be that high. The fact that Berhalter is in the top 10 of these two lists (he would be 7th in both) of THESE guys is a joke. Though not as much of a joke that Southgate tops the list. So yeah, Berhalter is very VERY fireable.
  22. Uh, we already pay Ggg more than that. It was noted a few pages back. There is nothing slight about his results.
  23. wow, I decided to watch that - it was like one of the worst sitcoms i ever watched.
