  1. But I thought aggy will never lie, cheat, or steal!?!?!?
  2. It sounds like he really burned some bridges and is unlikely to be on our radar again, which I can appreciate from a stick to your guns perspective. On the other hand, the idea of having Johntay Cook, Neyor, and Stewart all as additions to our WR room with Ewers back next year and Manning coming in is...intriguing to say the least.
  3. Read again. Jordy Nelson killed us down the middle of the field. Hutchison killed us on 3rd and long, and exactly where you're saying.
  4. Ok, but who got the last laugh? Matt used that rejection letter as motivation, went on to major in journalism at the prestigious aggy school of writing stuff, and is now living his best life... *checks notes*... selling insurance.
  5. This gem was buried a bit in the post about reasons to hate us. That's...certainly a unique take on that particular set of events.
  6. Five star culture.
  7. Great angle. Someone who twitters please share and tag billy loochi. I'd love to see which part of that clip he considers textbook targeting gifted to Texas as a no call.
  8. If you have to place a * beside division championships you dishonestly claim as conference championships, what do you place beside a plaque you create for a fictional future national championship? ... (don't answer that. I know the answer is a jizz jar)
  9. If he's covered but makes a play, that's one thing. They had exactly one receiver who was eating our lunch, and somehow he was wide open in the red zone with minutes to go in the 4th and them needing a TD to win. It was the kind of bust that likely loses us the game if he doesn't drop it. If another player is that open or if he's not open but makes a crazy play, ok. Having their best wr wide fucking open at that point in the game (after he'd been burning us consistently) is coaching malpractice.
  10. I remember reading a Scipio recap from one of the Josh Freeman/Jordy Nelson Kstate games where he said something like "as I type this, Jordy Nelson is still wide open over the middle of the field." Well, as I type this Xavier Hutchinson is still wide open on third and long. Every single third and long I was screaming at the screen to put 3 guys on him. Hell, bring in 8 dbs and put them all on Hutchinson, because we all knew that's where the pass was going. When he was open by 10 yards on the pass he dropped I lost my shit. Sure, he dropped it, but that's the one guy we had to have multiple guys keyed on at that point in the game. Yesterday must have been what fans felt like facing Colt/Shipley. We all knew where the ball was going on must-make downs, yet somehow he's still wide open.
  11. I don't disagree with your last sentence here. That said, comparing those wins to this one is silly and you know it.

Agree that the old "no holding" days of the big 12 grossly inflated some offensive stats. I'm not sure the true air raid works anywhere anymore. Like always, defenses catch up. I think only Leach really runs that offense now, and from watching them vs aggy he runs the ball a LOT more than he used to. I will say that the Big 12 probably transformed cfb offenses more than any other conference. I remember when the sec was playing mostly 10-7 games and big 12 games were 20+ pts on both sides, it was always assumed that the big 12 has no defenses vs sec having no offenses. Now that the sec has several teams with wide open offenses, score totals have gone up but no one blames defensive futility. Ironically, big 12 defenses have massively improved as have sec offenses. Makes the sport more entertaining, imo, vs when those conferences were so exclusively defense and offense focused.
  13. He's a perfect representative for their entire fanbase.
  14. Because we're only in year 2 with Sark. Next year we'll win by more.
  15. Klatt is a damn national treasure. His takes are on point and it drives aggy fucking crazy.

The most prolific Big 12 offensive minds that come to mind immediately are Leach, Gundy (hasn't left by choice), Riley, Kingsbury, and Briles. Who from that list has gone elsewhere and flamed out? Or, who else are you thinking of who has? Edit to add: if you dare say Greg fucking Davis you're simply inviting the fatwa that will surely come your way.
  17. I said after tech that I would probably check out for the rest of the season if it wasn't for Ewers. I've spent too much of the last 12 years miserable during and after games like tech. Life is too short if we keep putting product like that on the field. That said, what we saw against bama was confirmed against OU. This team, in all phases, could not be more different with/without Ewers. I can only assume it all comes from confidence that we can win any game with him under center, as rationally the defense shouldn't really be that impacted by the change but clearly they are. Until given reason to think otherwise, I believe we're a top 30 team without QE and a top 15 team with. How high in the top 15 depends on how consistent we can be. It's easy to get motivated for Bama and OU, let's see if we can maintain that intensity for ISU and the rest of the Big 12. If we can, there's not a team left on the schedule that should scare us. Yes, OU is bad this year, but that was a dominant, dominant win over a team that still has a lot of talent. We won't lose another game in conference if we scheme and execute like that weekly (and stay healthy). Now we sit back and see if we can sustain it. A decade of disappointment tells me not to get my hopes up, but I'm doing it anyway. Just like the team, I believe as long as we have QE.
  18. They landed a couple over the last few weeks and are around 15 now, I believe. Question is whether they can hold on to them, and if they have any left to buy. The most recent addition was long since assumed to be OU bound, even telling the OU staff he was coming the day he committed to aggy. Really make$ you wonder how circum$tance$ changed over just a few hour$ before he committed.
  19. It definitely looks like they're falling off, but they if they don't lose the guys they already have committed, a few of their higher priority targets might push them into the top 10. I have zero visibility aside from what those with knowledge share on our board. What I've taken away from that is aggy bmds are prioritizing a small number of targets rather than spreading the wealth this year. We've seen it work with a couple of very high profile guys, at least one of whom no one expected them to land. Seems like this class will come down to how many of those they actually land, and a small number of recruits may make the difference between a top 10 vs top 20 class. They were always going to fall off from going crazy last year, but recent additions have the class looking more like a dropoff than an implosion. You're right that attrition both from this class of recruits and the past few full of mercenaries will also tell the story of how much talent they really have to work with in the next few years. I'm ok with either of two outcomes: 1) They're unable to placate their mercenaries and changes are forced on Jimbo but they no longer have elite talent to work with, OR 2) They pay up to keep their talent and win just enough to keep them satisfied with Jimbo fully running the show. The in between scenario where they keep talent and force coaching changes is the one I'd rather not see. As of right now they look a lot like late era Mack Brown teams where you knew the talent level was substantially higher than the product on the field suggested. I'm hoping they give Jimbo several years too long to "get it fixed" just like we did.
  20. Whatever you've done already is night and day from the last week. Things are flying now.
  21. I couldn't be happier that they're celebrating this loss. Like it or not, Jimbo is definitely stockpiling some talent in bcs. The upside is, as long as he's free to run the program as he likes, coaching will hold them back from doing anything with it. We want aggy to lose, but we don't want it to get out of hand to where they actually make meaningful changes that might result in all of that talent being maximized. Best case scenario is aggy keeps losing close games or winning just enough to convince them that Jimbo is on the right path and just needs more time (and maybe money!) to get it done. Sounds like the close loss to a very shorthanded bama has things right on schedule.
  22. +1 to the ad issues. I've tried logging out and back in. I'm on chrome on Android. Every new page I open, I immediately have to close one ad that blocks the bottom nav bar and another video ad that blocks a significant portion of the screen. After closing these, they reappear as I scroll through the topic. About half the time, closing the video ad results in clicking through the ad so I have to go back. Things are running slowly enough that often clicking back does nothing, so I click back again and it takes me to the main forum list rather than to the topic I was trying to view before the ad redirected me. All of this started mid to late last week, and I've seen no change in my experience over that time. I was previously a tapa user but have migrated to using only the site in the last few months. This has me wanting to go back, but sticking it out in hopes this is short lived. Not trying to gripe @immamac, just trying to provide more info to help track down what's going on.
  23. One of the scariest things about aggy has always been how hard it is to determine what is trolling vs real delusion. Posts like that one fall into the 70-80% likelihood of trolling category because it's just impossible to believe someone actually believes that shit. But there are posts from looch and other mods that aren't so different, so you really can't ever tell for sure.
