  1. I agree that it would've been nice to rest Bijan some before OU. Hopefully he's able to get fresh this week. That said, Roschon seemed to be struggling a bit with their run defense (he tends to wait for blocks to open up and tcu was on him quickly today) and Keilan has coughed up the ball a couple of times. In those circumstances, and with Casey's trend of hitting TCU defenders in the hands today, riding Bijan was the right choice to win this game.
  2. So far, outside of Arkansas, I've learned two things about our defense: 1) it sucks to watch, but often is more effective than it feels like it should be 2) it is really, really terrible at prevent
  3. From what I recall, Cook had a high impact game as well. So maybe 2 players played well?
  4. A game on the road where we never really established any momentum, struggled in the red zone, turned the ball over, dropped probably 1/3 of our passes and overshot another 3rd, had ridiculously one sided officiating... And won. The fact that it's tcu makes it that much better. Really hard game to watch, but to play like shit and still win is saying something. It has been a long time since we've done that.
  5. That 3rd down was blocked for about 1.5 yards, and he picked up 7 with defenders hanging on him.
  6. Patterson is going to bring him back as a half cyborg, and this big 12 crew will allow it.
  7. If it's the play I think you're talking about, it looked like they recognized a screen and started pulling back to disrupt it. TCU does love screens in those situations.
  8. Joe Cook has another tweet covering more of TCUs announced starters. I know they have several questionable, but I'm completely unfamiliar with their roster. Anyone who knows the critical players who can update on status? Who are they actually getting back vs gamesmanship from fatterson?
  9. It's almost as though...oh, fuck it. It's football. It's the internet. Have a beer, all will be well.
  10. It's almost as though hyperbolic overreaction to literally any adversity is a common theme on sports message boards.
  11. It's almost as though hyperbolic confidence in the face of literally any opponent is a common theme on sports message boards.
  12. I think we win, but there are some valid reasons for uncertainty. We're vulnerable to big pass plays, but most of the offenses we've played have been unable to make us really pay (you could argue tech did, but it was too late). TCUs QB seems to be hot and cold, so might depend on which side he's on tomorrow. On offense, we've been in a lot of third and even 4th downs this year that we've converted. If the TCU starters who return tomorrow are healthy, this might be a solid defense and we likely won't have the same conversion %. Missing on a few of those early changes the dynamic of the game quickly. It was with a different QB, but the offense also hasn't played well on the road yet, so it would be nice to see that crossed off the list. The weather is always a wildcard. No clear advantage to either side, just introduces an element we haven't had to face yet this season. We'll have to see how it impacts our plan and execution.
  13. Nothing is more aggy than having your "best moment" tied to your association with the achievements of others.
  14. The Jimbo to LSU thing is such a win win regardless of the outcome. If LSU isn't going to offer, Jimbo still used the risk that they might as leverage for an even more ridiculous contract from aggy. If LSU is going to offer, it won't be for more $, at best it will be equal and likely less. If Jimbo takes equal or less $ to leave aggy for LSU, we might all go the way of ghost of LL and actually OD on aggy tears. Even better, if he takes the LSU job that's probably better for us than LSU hiring a legit coach, and aggy will perpetually be a 7-5/8-4 team regardless of their coach so it doesn't matter. I don't think there's a chance in hell LSU actually offers, but any way you look at aggy loses here.
  15. He actually convinced them that LSU was going to outbid them. It's one of the consequences of having no buyout, they know they're completely vulnerable if a better program actually wanted to offer. At this point Jimbo has proven much more adept at exploiting aggy's inferiority complex than exploiting sec defenses.
  16. Wanting to beat Texas, being mad that they couldn't beat Texas, and the PUF. That's pretty much it.
  17. What's really telling to me is that sark was willing to put the game on with recruits in his office. If aggy came back and performed well against a team that pounded us two weeks before, that's a bad look. Tells me sark had a lot of confidence in how that game would go and felt comfortable having it on. If that's not damning, I don't know what is.
  18. PK isn't exactly Manny Diaz. He's been at this for a long time at the p5 level and is well thought of as a defensive mind and coach. I'm glad that is true, because otherwise you'd have to be extremely skeptical of his hire based on early returns. The longevity of his prior success suggests give him a bit to get it running the way he wants and he'll produce results. I'm sure that's somewhat getting the right players and somewhat his players understanding and executing the scheme. I sure as hell hope it at least starts to pick up in the back half of the season. So far it has been hard to watch, even when we're actually limiting points.
  19. The best part is saying that the chatter about offensive struggles is contained only to message boards. Is the thinking that recruits who play football can't see the offense struggling when they watch the games or that they won't notice unless they read it on texags?
  20. It would be a real shame if the smoke and mirrors narrative they've been spinning about Jimbo changing the culture at aggy and how they're ready to challenge bama in the west started breaking down in the face of abysmal performances during what was supposed to be the year it all came together for them and recruits started jumping ship regardless of the bags they're handing out. It would just be so unfortunate to have to sit by and watch that happen.
  21. Yep. Real question is how healthy they actually are. If they're great players at 75%, it's kind of hard to predict how that plays out vs backups at 100%
  22. If you think about our top impact skill players on offense over the last few games, at least half of them wouldn't be on the team if Herman was still the coach (Worthy, K Robinson), and the other half would probably be injured from poor s&c (jwhit) or only touching the ball 6-7 times/game in order to "bring him along slowly." Pretty scary to imagine Bijan still running second as a change of pace back to Ingram and Kai Money leading the team in receptions because Omeire, Smith, and Whittington would once again be sidelined with no other options at receiver.
  23. This feels like the kind of "let's create dumb drama to distract from how shitty the performance of our football program is" situation you'd see from a sun belt or mountain west team. So, pretty on brand for fat Pat and tcu.
