  1. Did she try to select a picture based on how much she looked like Satan, or was that just accidental?
  2. No, sorry, not you. Just at the group broadly arguing the issue in the wrong thread.
  3. I'm still in amazement that there isn't more 9.95 fan fiction going on right now. In Mack and Charlie's last days, there was a stream of vague hints from conversations with anonymous sources that at least kept things interesting. This time around, there's the Urban story to spin, and the best we've got this week is the glizzy guy saying nothing at all? We can do better. My need to be distracted from work I should be doing demands it.
  4. Discussion of how Herman's management of the ADs requirements on the eot should accelerate the case for firing him = appropriate for this thread. Discussion of whether Herman, cdc, or the team have taken the appropriate stance on the eot, or what the appropriate stance should be = take it to the thread on that subject that the rest of us can choose to avoid. Simple enough?
  5. It's so surprising that, in a conference full of objectively awful officiating on a week in, week out basis, the first public acknowledgement of officiating fault I can remember is to recognize something that was unfavorable for OU. Just a truly shocking revelation.
  6. If we were 4-0 coming off of a dominant win against OU and ranked in the top 10, do you think anyone would care even if those coaches went on record that football was breaking the rules? No. It would be cleaned up in a week and everyone would move on. It's a little extra fuel on the fire, I get it, but there's already an aggy lincoln log sized blaze going, and it doesn't need much help to collapse at on itself at this point.
  7. If it's useful as a tool to get him out for less $, great. But let's not discuss it was though it's a reason he should/shouldn't be gone. There's plenty of reason for that already.
  8. IMO, the eyes thing is a distraction and probably favors Herman. Herman can "fix" the situation with the eyes and try to use to being back goodwill with bmds and fans. The focus should be on how much Herman's team full of highly rated upper class recruits sucks shit through a straw. Any discussion around Herman's future that doesn't start and end there is misguided, unless the eyes issue can be used to lower his buyout. If we were winning this would be a small issue to work out. Herman needs to go because we're not winning, period.
  9. Texas as Goliath can't beat TCU because they have God on their side. Can't beat OU because they sold their soul to the devil for a lifelong all you can eat dicks buffet.
  10. He'll let you know as soon as anything substantial is announced that the news he heard is exactly what happened. That's how you'll know he's an inside guy with legit sources.
  11. Not the first qb to have looked great against Texas and not so great against other defenses over the last few years.
  12. Seems some people are looking at NC now and saying "see, they fucked up firing him," ignoring the fact that Mack has even said that he needed to step back and observe as a commentator for a few years to get some perspective and get reenergized with a fresh approach. Anyone thinking his ride at Texas was going to do anything other than continue to go downhill if continued is delusional.
  13. Because of their significantly more stable and healthy bmd + ad + fan + school administration situation...
  14. I heard Urban was actually the one who leaked the Zach Smith stuff to the press so that he would be forced out at Ohio State because, having worked with Herman, he knew Herman would fail and the Texas job would be open in a few years. Everything he's done since then is just positioning himself to be ready to take his dream job in Austin when it came available. 3d chess, and whatnot. All of this comes from very reliable sources, and you can trust me because lying isn't allowed on sports forums.
  15. I've never coached, so I don't know what all goes into season and week to week preparation. As an observer, one thing that stands out to me is that coaches whose teams seem dialed in on the details throughout the game seem to have teams that perform well overall. Mack Brown needed to go, but something that has stood out in stark contrast between his teams and our teams since is how good Mack's teams were on details throughout the game. When to use a timeout, when to spike the ball or go hurry up, special teams just generally being prepared for all situations, lack of penalties, when to fake a punt or expect a fake, when to rush to get out of bounds to save clock, etc. Mack's teams, and other well coached teams that I watch, are just obviously sharper on these things than Charlie's or Herman's teams ever were. I don't think those things are why their teams don't perform well, but I think these are highly visible symptoms of coaches who do/don't prepare their team well overall. Our play on the field shows and obvious lack of fundamental development and preparation for our opponent, other than possibly bowl games. We also just do not play situationally smart football in many cases, which tells me we're not being coached on situational awareness within games. All of that tells me that how we're approaching coaching and preparation as a team is flawed, and that starts at the top regardless of coordinators. The best coaches are just better at utilizing the time they have with their teams to prepare them to play, and that's most evident in the tiny situational details that their teams get right or flail on. I'm tired of flailing.
  16. Agree, do not get the malzahn thing at all. He's got some interesting ideas on offense, but that has never translated to being a great head coach, imo. I'm not in favor of the young unproven coaches for our search, but I favor them over the older and proven average coaches.
  17. Thank you, this is a perfect summation of why Meyer is the only real homerun option in this search. Everyone else either isn't coming, or has huge question marks on the resume at a time when you can't risk those unknowns. It's either going to be Meyer, or I think interest from our fan base is going to wane considerably. 11 years is long enough to wait to start getting this back on track.
  18. "we didn't expect them to blitz as much as they did"
  19. He's got a great profile, but why would he leave? We're not outbidding Phil, and he already has the machine set up there. I see no appeal in coming to fix our mess.
  20. I think he'll be fired either way, but I also think firing and announcing a replacement very quickly is preferable to a long interim situation. If we can wait a bit to finalize his replacement I think that makes sense. Neither option is great, clearly. I'd take fired, no matter how/when it goes down.
  21. Here's me consciously debating whether having an obvious lame duck coach leading the program is better or worse than an interim coach with no announced successor:
  22. I think the "next loss" thing is just cover bc we don't have the replacement lined up yet. If Urban was done, I don't think Tom coaches another game. I think the decision is already made, it's just about timing. If it takes us a bit to get the next person lined up, we wait to fire Tom until it's done. Having a lame duck coach or an interim coach both destabilize your program, recruiting, etc. It's not like firing him now and having no answers about who replaces him is a great story to tell. Wait until you know who the next person is, and then just let Tom naturally lose another game to trigger the final action. That's what I hope is really going on, anyway.
  23. It's kind of baffling the relative silence from our 9.95 crew. The last couple of times we were in a situation with an obvious change on the horizon, they couldn't stop posting "updates." Not sure what to make of radio silence, as it's not like fabrication is off limits here in the absence of actual news.
