If you drive a classic more than a few miles, it's impossible not to be in a bad mood periodically.  As simple as my '69 Chevy C10 is, there is always one more thing to fix.

This is a fair point, and one that I did not contemplate in my post.

At times I get very nervous driving the Riviera. I am constantly looking at the gauges, looking out the mirrors, etc. and I drive as defensively as possible.

This '68 Chevy C-10 in the 50th anniversary of Chevrolet trucks anniversary gold and ivory is one of my favorites.

This is the car parked at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. I always had a parking pass for up the hill from the Start/Finish and it was neat how so many drivers would take a look at her. I always parked opposite of the driver's paddock.

Oh, it is inside. It hasn't seen rain in over 30 years. It is babied more than the '98 911.

Had both of the cars out yesterday. It's amazing how so many people react to the Riviera. At three stop lights people in the next lane yelled over at me wanting to talk about the car.

Olive Gold Metallic. It looks better on the car.

Heh, in 1984 my Mom - something of a car snob - wanted a new 98 Olds with a vinyl roof, but Dad was kinda tight with a buck and bought the 88 instead.
That didn’t sit well with her so Dad had the dealer install a white vinyl roof a month after the initial purchase.
    She was happy with that.

After she passed away in 1992 Dad sold it for a pittance even though it had a little over 8,000 miles on the clock.

We had a 1977 Olds Delta 88. It was an interesting car. It was supposed to have the Olds V-8 but, it had the Chevy and there was a nationwide lawsuit and I remember my dad didn't really care about it so he never joined the lawsuit. It was basically just a floating barge of a car.

Earl Sheib was nation wide and widely known for cheap, shitty paint jobs.

Better keep that vinyl covered roof inside. The metal under it will deteriorate quickly if left outdoors. My Mustang roof was Swiss cheese when I restored it. Like flaky and had holes in it. Nothing between the vinyl top and the headliner.

  6. I’ve been trying to figure out why all these other games are so much more enjoyable than our games.

It can’t just be that we are emotionally invested in Team U.S.A.

And that being the case our games just eat us up inside.

Say, Earl Scheib has come a loooong way! 😉

My grandfather, the one who gave me the 1968 Riviera, was terrible at maintaining cars. Grandpa graduated from medical school in 1923, so even during The Great Depression he had money, or at least was paid in eggs, and meats and things. I even have a pool table from an old Pittsburgh pool hall because the owner needed to pay grandpa for a surgery.

Anyway, the Riviera was bought new and for some damned reason, at some point in the late ‘70s, the Great Earl Scheib painted a good portion of the car. Now, I think there was no attempt at matching what was a beautiful color, Olive Gold Metallic, which was only on the Riviera in ‘68, no other General Motors car.

Well, it was an absolutely horrible paint job and just looked like shit.

I got the car in high school, and like an ass I had the car painted black (ugh) and had the original vinyl top taken off. The original was lime green, very sharp with the Olive Gold. Thankfully, after I graduated from college, a few years after I had it all stripped and taken back to the original Olive Gold and found a sharp vinyl top, sort of a grey/slate color.

I have no idea how Earl Scheib ever grew past one location. It was awful.

  8. That was just awesome. The people who run our federation here in America should be forced to spend one entire day watching that game, in a loop. That's how it is supposed to be. I wanted Austria to win but, damn that was amazing.

    Awesome Sean Penn GIF

    And apparently he's the problem.

    Get the fuck outta here.

I don’t think it is so wrong to say that this team is soft. They are not physically imposing in the least. Pulisic, me agreeing that he is soft is more about him being a small guy. I’m saying that he’s not going to overpower anyone and I don’t think teh rest of teh team is good enough that he can do what he does in Italy, with more quality around him. Very few guys on this team seem to be able to overpower anyone.

Pulisic is soft and so is this team. Stop fucking anointing his ass a "generational talent" and a "phenom." Hold him accountable, he got owned tonight. At the international level, Dempsey and Donovan outclass him. He needs to step the fuck up and stop reading his own press clippings.

I can’t disagree with that. I wanted to post something like that but, wanted to find the correct words.
