  1. Man, N.C. State is really shitting the bed this season. Syracuse with a 10-point lead in Raleigh with just 2:26 to play. Yeah, that look was one of surprise.
  2. One last thing on this. The Californians also made sure to ask me to thank everyone who helped out and did what we could. They also invited me to their tailgate when Pitt ever comes out to play at Cal.
  3. We had one crazy-ass day. Yesterday I met some Cal guys in Pittsburgh and invited them to our tailgate. They came and joined us and we were all having a great day and a bunch of fun. Then, all of a sudden the one guy, he was a member of the Cal Band the day of that famous Stanford game, has a medical incident and falls, flat, backwards and smashed the back of his head on the pavement, The sound was terrible. Everyone jumped in to help and ultimately it did not work. The Californians called me and let me know that when they got him to the hospital, just a mile from the stadium, that he had a serious skull fracture, a massive brain bleed and if there was surgery that he would most likely be a vegetable. His wife made the decision to let him die tonight. Life can be crazy.
  4. Dude is heating up in preseason. Last night in Milwaukee Bronny was 0/4 in six minutes on the floor. Start the song: We ready, for y’all…….
  5. The kid who played Greg Brady was also in a TV series, Day By Day, which I don't think lasted too long but, in one of the episodes there was a dream sequence where the kid dreamt he was in The Brady Family. It was quite clever. From Wiki: "A Very Brady Episode" The episode titled "A Very Brady Episode" aired on February 5, 1989, and reunited six cast members from The Brady Bunch – Ann B. Davis, Florence Henderson, Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland, Maureen McCormick, and Robert Reed. In this episode, Ross is lectured by Brian and Kate about his poor study habits. Ross's explanation that he was watching a Brady Bunch marathon only angers his parents more, and he is warned to shape up. Ross bemoans his predicament, noting Mike Brady would never yell at him because he had flagging grades. Ross falls asleep, and finds himself in the opening credits of The Brady Bunch., where he dreams that he is the Bradys' long-lost son, Chuck. After he gets his hair permed at Mike's suggestion, he visits with the various family members (except Greg, Jan, and Cindy), who reprise some of the scenes in the Bradys' most famous episodes ("Chuck" and Marcia running against each other for class president, "Chuck" being bullied by Buddy Hinton episode, etc.) After "Chuck" gets some advice about his poor grades from Mike, the family begins to repeat their dialogue. "Chuck" wonders what's amiss, and Carol explains what he's seeing is a rerun. Everything becomes chaotic and Ross wakes up, vowing to improve his study habits. Christopher Daniel Barnes, who played Ross on the series, would later portray Greg Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel.
  6. What's kind of funny is that the city's colors pretty much are Black & Gold, while Pitt is Blue & Gold.
  7. It is a really good place. It has its share of knuckleheads but, every place does. The Pirates baseball park is indeed all kinds of awesome. It'd be nice if we had a Major League team to go with it. Every year you see stories about people doing baseball vacations hitting games in Detroit, then Cleveland and then Pittsburgh and maybe on to Cincy. Four places that are easy to do driving.
  8. Someone posted this on the Pitt board. I guess easy to see why there was a delay last night. That front moved right down over town. More electricity in that picture than with the entire Steelers offense this season.
  9. Pitt is now 5-0 with Cal coming to town this week. It was 1991 when Pitt was last 5-0 to start a season. Paul Hackett was the head coach. On the staff were: Jon Gruden, Marvin Lewis, Skip Peete, Sal Sunseri and Mike McCarthy was a Grad Assistant. Alex Van Pelt was the QB. Also on that team was Curtis Martin, Sean Gilbert, Keith Hamilton, Dave Moore, Jeff Christy, Anthony Dorsett, Jr., Tom Barndt, Ricardo McDonald, Steve Israel, Vernon Lewis, Rob Coons, Billy Davis, Dietrich Jells, Tom Tumulty, and Ruben Brown. All went to the NFL and some had very successful careers. Also on that team was Doug Whaley, now one of the heads of the XFL. In spectacular Pitt fashion, I like to say, Pitt Happens, the Panthers finished the season 6-5 with the only win coming against Rutgers surrounded by a horrible loss to Notre Dame, then Syracuse, then a Jeff Blake led ECU, then Boston College, then Penn State to close out the season. Hopefully we don't fuck up this season in the remaining weeks.
  10. Steelers are also 3-2, and I would say a worse team than the Cowboys.
  11. I fell asleep by choice. I'm surprised that the Cowboys didn't steam roll them but, neither team is very good. I reckon we got the type of game that was inevitable.
  12. Quick glance at the stats showed the Steelers passed for 130 yards, or so. That terrible. The Cowboys more than doubled the yardage. Steelers are just bad. The defense is so far from being clutch and the offensive line has been shit for a decade. Baltimore and Cincy will clobber them.
  13. I just saw the clip of the 22-car crash at Talladega. NASCR is so broken. Good for Michael Jordan bringing that lawsuit.
  14. Steelers are a bad football team. Glad I turned it off at halftime
  15. That was a pretty good storm that rolled through. It’s very nice out now. The game is not nice. Two bad teams playing bad football. I’m done watching this.
  16. I don’t hate them but, I’d just do blue jersey with white pants and blue pants with white jersey. Personal preference
  17. Man, that $230,000,000 contract for Deshaun Watson is looking good.
  18. Thankfully our blue is a bit more of a Royal Blue and Cal’s is darker. The gold/yellow is reasonably close. I don’t know what Cal has worn on the road this season. Out of all the teams in the ACC if I had to choose one strictly on uniforms, other than Pitt of course, I would choose UNC. But they need to wear white pants with that classic Carolina Blue jersey.
  19. https://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=41615798 It has begun, Bronny James made a layup!
  20. Holy cow, I just saw the box score for the WVU at Okie State game. The Cowboys suck.
  21. I don't think they can let this go one into next season. The atmosphere in and around the stadium yesterday was very, "blah". And it is a terrific stadium. They are huge on both sides of the ball and I was amazed that our defensive line, very thin, undersized and young, held on like they did and held them to 2/6 on 4th. It was huge. I don't understand what he is doing with Hampton. That kid is a wrecking ball. They have some other backs too and I would have run a bit of two-back sets to confuse Pitt, they didn't. I'm not sure if Mack can use the lost QB in game one as the excuse because Criswell is just not an elite QB. It was a fun game from my perspective. I don't think Mack had much fun. I know for sure that their fans were miserable after the game.
  22. I’m not too upset that Cal blew that game but, I just don’t understand the no-target call. We had one today at UNC that looked like the actual definition of the rule and the referee said, “no targeting”. How it changes from game to game is maddening.
  23. You didn’t hear Cam himself say he was the best player in the country?
