The freshman was just 4/4 for 29 yards and a TD on our opening possession. He was a highly regarded recruit. I, personally, think Eli’s head is still not right after last season’s concussions.
Pitt plays Boston College at noon today. Apparently our starting QB, Eli Holstein, and our Offensive Coordinator Cade Bell had a bit of a shoving incident this week at practice.
Should be interesting to see if we fuck this one up today. I think the freshman QB is going to play today.
I think 25 years ago I'd completely agree with you but, the landscape has changed so much that I'm not sure if it is good for young coaches to take these massive rebuilding jobs. The key now is how much money can we spend. It's not about recruiting high school players and being young and energetic.
So many of these kids are being money-whipped and if the donor base isn't there, and I'd say for so many more schools than fans want to admit it's not there.
I don't know what is the answer. A few years ago Pitt lost its defensive line coach. He was generally regarded as one of the top couple guys in America and he didn't want to deal with the crap anymore so he went to the NFL and the Broncos.
I don't think college football is in a very good spot right now.
