  1. It’s a good game. Not a pretty game but, I don’t think anyone expected that. I’m enjoying it and I think I want Houston to win more than I wouldn’t mind Florida winning. I’m just enjoying some ball since i had to watch Pitt all season. This is kind of the palate cleanser.
  2. Thought maybe it was a counterfeit from Australia.
  3. So glad this isn’t the Let’s Fellate Cooper Flagg broadcast.
  4. What’s with that 👆 dude’s hat?
  5. Not that they have played very often but, I thought this was funny. The Pirates had a walk-off single yesterday to beat the Yankees and it was the first walk-off for the Pirates against the Yankees since Maz in the 1960 World Series. It's such a piss-poor run franchise. We have one of the top ballparks but a AAA team has been trotted out since 1992. I'd rather go see The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings.
  6. I think we know what Houston will do, especially defensively. For me, the key is what Florida did to AU with their rotation of big guys. Cardwell is not a scorer even though he doubled his average. They were able to wear down Broome, obviously not at 100%, and I think how they defended him was the difference. Can Florida's big guys make it too difficult for Houston?
  7. I get ya but, nobody outside of Durham cares about how close they have gotten. And yes, I'm well aware my two teams haven't won shit. Fuck both Duke & Cal at Kentucky.
  8. I get it. But, that stuff gets old. I don't think anyone on this site has talked smack about how good Houston is as a team. I've said all season I thought they were very good and could win the whole thing. Yes, the media sucks ass. I wanted UCONN to beat South Carolina yesterday but, I had to side with the Gamecocks coach when she responded, a day before, to a reporter asking her about Paige and her legacy. Why the fuck would Staley care about Paige's legacy when Staley herself is building a damned good legacy herself? Even though I wrote for 30 years I always hated sharing questions and always preferred to ask questions on my own, not in a gaggle.
  9. It’s such a hard thing, in any sport. I’ve said before that my top-five has Fangio, Schumacher, Senna, Clark and Hamilton. And that could be my order. It’s just too hard to compare the different eras.
  10. I’m was covering the Silver Cup that night. And I will not forget the sound when Sammy hit the truck. One of the hardest stories I ever wrote was my annual Father’s Day story I wrote with a driver whose father had died in a crash at Challenger Raceway. It was a good story, and I think it actually helped the driver to talk about it in a public forum. It helped that I was well-known as not that guy who writes sensational crap for a cheap thrill. As for Alonso, I just think age is taking over, like it is for Hamilton. Father Time is undefeated. As for Yuki and Lawson, I’m not saying Lawson will be better than Yuki, just that watching in qualifying and races will be fun and if Lawson gets close to Yuki there will be comments.
  11. I generally like him but, this is again one of those “nobody respected us” type comments. Houston is a #1 seed. They have been a top team all season. Everyone, here at least, has said they sure as hell could win the national title. Nobody is sleeping on Houston. Nobody.
  12. https://x.com/thecatspause247/status/1908859930502926393?s=42 John Calipari gets a lot of grief for leaving some meat one the bone, but over the last 10 years, Duke has not won a national championship despite having: – 36 5-stars – 28 McDonald's All-Americans – 18 first round picks – 9 top-5 prospects – 8 lottery picks – 7 top-10 prospects – 3 No. 1 prospects – 2 No. 1 overall NBA Draft picks
  13. There were some excellent photos from below. 👆
  14. 18 offensive and 24 defensive. Domination.
  15. 7’2” Maluach, ZERO rebounds and one block. Only 10 bench points combined for both teams.
  16. Agree on the McLaren pussy-strategy. Let Oscar have a shot. Lando is very good but, he hasn’t won shit, yet. Masterful weekend for Max. I enjoy Villeneuve as an announcer. He doesn’t go for theatrics he just calmly describes things. He mentioned during qualifying that Max just works on the car the whole weekend and then it comes together. Ferrari could have saved $446,000,000 by putting someone other than Hamilton in that seat if all he is going to do is hang around seventh-place all season, 10 seconds behind the kid who took his seat. This is nowhere similar to Ferrari hiring Michael Schumacher to fix their shit show. Listening to Hamilton bitch on the radio with the paisan is never not funny. Does Lance Stroll have to give back his salary to Daddy Stroll to somehow justify him still being in F1. It’s also time for Alonso to exit stage right. Yuki did, ok to eh, but no points at his home race. I do look forward to seeing the continuing battle between Lawson and Yuki. It’d be cool if Lawson settles in and starts to do well.
  17. Flagg hit a two-pointer at 10:31 to put Duke up, 45-58 Their only other basket was again Flagg, a three-pointer at 3:03 to put them up, 55-64. Go look at the play-by-play. It looks like they only got two other shots up the final three minutes of the game. I could be wrong but, even if I am the Houston defense is just relentless. That’s why I said before the tournament that I thought they really had a great chance to win, and that they reminded me of those old Georgetown teams that would just wear you down. Just fun to watch.
  18. Houston slaughtered them on the boards down the stretch. Duke’s largest lead was 14 points. Houston’s was 3 point. The final score, 70-67
  19. That really was one for the ages.
  20. Fucking wow! Just fucking wow.
