If you're a dude at an outdoor event and you can have to keep asking yourself, "Who dat grinding up on me like that?" more than once, congrats-you got the virus.
That seems like a pretty good rule to go by.

Wuhan. Not catching a break:
However, residents in the central city Wuhan and provinces of Anhui, Jiangxi and Zhejiang, some of the places downstream of the dam that have been most severely hit by the water levels this year, received a red alert on Friday, the highest level on a four-tier weather warning system.

I have a few dry spots in the lawn. I’ll take a moderate amount of rain.

I don’t wear a mask outside. I also don’t find myself in a mass gathering of people like that video.
I saw the post about Jackson earlier. Once I’m out of an establishment, and clear of people, the mask is off.Do I need to change my mask wearing usage? I feel pretty okay in the great outdoors.

My son got tested last week and got the result 15 minutes later. The paper did say that there’s a 20% false negative rate.
That seems pretty useless. I’m not sure what you can do with something that has a 1 in 5 chance of being a false negative. What about false positive?

Kind of a renaissance virus, if you will. Well-rounded and completely ignored by ignorant people. However, turned un-enlightened folks into armchair scientists and statisticians, so in a way, the opposite. But you're right...the damn thing is a wonder. It's emboldened some of the dumbest people I've ever known to believe they can chime in on public health policy while they vilify some of the most brilliant people our society has to offer. Curious juxtaposition. Something of a reverse-renaissance for the United States, it would seem.
I miss the days when being born dumb or consciously staying uneducated was embarrassing.
Yea I was thinking about the myriad side effects and symptoms the virus causes. But that too.
I hear you though. I like people usually but I hate the public.

It’s the wonder virus. Does a little of everything.

This has been an enjoyable thread. Hugo disagreeing with Brew is quite good.

The NY Times has a map up showing your chances of encountering people all wearing masks in five random encounters:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/07/17/upshot/coronavirus-face-mask-map.html
They polled 250,000 people asking how often they wear masks and used the data to create a map showing which areas of the country probably have more mask wearers.
Not sure how accurate this map is. About 4 out of 5 people you saw walking around in Teton County in WY and ID had masks. It was 100% inside stores. Those two areas are a very light shade on the map.

How does it apply to Texas? The SEZ project will net only a trivial number of additional seats.
I thought it was a Costco.

we are fundamentally broken.
Who is going to enforce the mandate? At this point who cares if it is a law or not. People just need to wear one when around others.
All the big box retailers are requiring one now. Airlines started a while ago. Everyone on the last few flights I have taken was wearing a mask.

Sorry buddy, You're missing a 0 on that figure if we're talking about the most popularized version in Warren's. 50 million is where it would being. Although you bring up a good point about redefining and overhauling the Estate tax.

Let’s be clear: if your AGI is under, say, 300K a year, nobody is talking about you. If you stand to inherit less than $5 million (under even the most extreme AOC-ish plans)in 2020 dollars indexed to inflation, nobody is talking about you. You can click out of this thread knowing your tax rates, in a worst case scenario, might go back to pre 2017 levels. We are ‘t talking about Bezos and Buffett in a sense, we are talking about a whole class of leveraged up hedge fund bro’s who are robbing all of us blind. Just to start.
Stop acting like this is about you, and just admit you don’t want certain of your fellow Americans to get a hand up. Just own it.
This is helpful. I’m in the over $5 million club so I’m against this wealth tax.

I signed up too. I got a text to expect a call that should last 15 - 20 minutes to confirm eligibility. I don't know if that means anything or not.
Please keep us apprised of all the mutations you experience.

That's beyond sad.
I'm not saying for sure that anyone would die, but God help their conscience should little Melissa Sue catch it and pass away. I wouldn't want that burden on my heart.
On the other hand I feel for the churches trying to make their note. We have loans out to a few that are really struggling. Online giving is foreign concept to the population that can ill afford to pass around the plate.
It is just bad business to foreclose on a bank so we have tried to assist with setting up online donation.

Nobody was talking about how protests transfer or don't transfer the virus. My point was how/when the gatherings ocurred.
the "lockdown" had been lifted for weeks in Texas before those BLM protests took place all around the state. Once it was lifted in early May, have at it...go protest police brutality, lack of haircut options, or just anger with government and science. BUT!!
If we go into an official lockdown again...we need to take it much more seriously this time around. I don't want anybody gathering to protest jackshit at the Capitol. Go to work if you have to, buy groceries and booze, but otherwise stay the fuck home or there won't be a school year.

I thought protests don’t spread the virus.
The virus doesn't like protests about the virus. Or maybe it does like protests because it helps spread the virus. But protests don't spread the virus. And the virus isn't living so it cannot like anything. This virus is difficult to understand.

That's not what he said. He said don't flaunt your shit on social media.
That’s good advice for anytime. Pre, post, and during a pandemic.

@Al_4_ISU I do not like you. I had to leave yesterday. I’m already miserable being back.
I was in Jackson for three weeks. The good news is I didn’t catch the Rona on the flight up. Fingers crossed for the return leg.

This so much. I've gotten the age in life where I'm pretty calm and nonconfrontational, but the assholes that don't follow the protocols are starting to trigger some pretty hostile thoughts. It shows how selfish and stupid humanity has become when they would jeopardize the health and even lives of others because of their "freedom". Bastards.

The best part of wearing a mask is no one can tell if I have a booger in my nose.
Also, some women look surprisingly more attractive or exotic in a mask. Or I could just be getting more desperate.
