For someone who loves tradition, I just thought you might be willing to embrace the tradition of correct usage of our fucking language.
Damn. You got me. All of my feelings about “tradition” (dirty word by the way) are invalid because I left out a contraction.

I swear to fucking God I am going to join protestors in the streets and my cause will be to get people to use this phrase correctly.
COULDN'T. YOU **COULDN'T** CARE LESS.
it doesn't make any fucking sense the other way.

Well, no. But you’ll be branded as someone who lacks the perspective to speak on the issue unless you’re an African American athlete at The University of Texas. And that’s fair.
I cannot argue with another persons feelings. That being said should not my feelings around a song and a university matter as well?
Growing up with Texas football brought joy and also a lot of heartache. My old man would always have us stay to the end to sing the eyes. As I kid I remember singing the song with tears in my eyes when PSU beat us bad in the Fiesta or when we lost to Notre Dame at home in 90 something. Don’t get me started on some of those OU games.
No matter the outcome of the game you stood and sang the song and I felt proud even if we were beaten. Because we had that song, and we got to sing it, and the other team did not.
So I am sorry that I don’t want to see the song removed just like that. I could care less what a building is called on campus. But the eyes, damn, that would be tough.
Hopefully there is a dialogue to get the feelings out and we can figure out how to move forward with The Eyes of Texas.

I was in student government from 09 to 11. We debated a lot of stupid shit and we wrote some legit meaningless letters on Student Government letterhead.
The student government was made up of a diverse group of students from many different backgrounds and we ended every meeting with the Eyes. Perhaps it was an issue back then but I was unaware.
A quick google shows in 2018 it was debated whether to sing the song after government meetings.

@CleverNickname the Victor Emporium has some damn good milkshakes too.
I’ll be in Jackson just over a week from now. Spending 2-3 weeks hiking around Teton and Yellowstone.

Cloudcroft is nice because If you miss the heat you can travel down to White Sands real quick.

With something like this I have to ask would Art be for or against it. From there I formulate my opinion.
Good luck Minneapolis. I hope it works well.

I always thought the “No Soliciting” sign really meant, “I have no self control, please ring my doorbell and I’ll buy something I don’t need so you go away.”

I hope to God both of y'all are right that it's just the testing showing more cases.
I hope so too. Data in two weeks or so will be interesting...

Hate to break it to you, but case counts have risen dramatically over the last week or so here in Texas. Yesterday, we recorded our highest one-day count of new infections throughout this entire ordeal. The data also seem to show early indications that deaths might be picking back up too. So take that for what it's worth.
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/texas-coronavirus-cases.html
You can't just look at daily positives. You need to also look at the number of tests being done as well. Also for some reason Texas mixes PCR and antibody tests results together which confuses the picture of how many new cases Texas really has. It seems NYT's might be taking the antibody number out of their results as they show 1,578 new cases vs 3,281 on the tableau site for 5/31.

Hugo, your 27,000 posts so far on Surly will go down in the an(n)als of history as a great civic achievement.

It’s where the jobs, business industries etc. are. It’s the same reason DFW is overrun with out of staters. And it’s not because they dreamed of the Metroplex.
Go to Teterboro, White Plains, Morristown, Philly NorthEast, Martin State, Dulles and probably a few others I’ve neglected on Friday afternoon and you’ll find most of the super wealthy people you think love the NE so are getting the fuck out of the NE on the nearest available private jet.
Usually to that bastion of culture and fine living known as Florida.
Personally it’s Hooks for me and sadly it is usually to Florida. The economics of flying there vs WY is better (time and $$$).

Was sitting by my window wondering why their was a helicoptor hovering outside. Protest marching up 1st Avenue. All very peaceful. NYPD walking with them. No issues that I could see.
The only issue I see (from a week and half ago) is they are outside.
