  1. Interesting offer, but I certainly don't mind poaching a guy with potential from Rhule. His evaluations seems like they're awfully good. Since the offer came from Orlando, can we assume he's being looked at fro Rover or Mike? This kid runs angry in his film, so I'd think linebacker might be a solid fit after some teaching and development.
  2. Gilbert is a monster. As funny as it is that he didn't pick aggy, I kind of wish he'd gone to Clemson, Bama, or UGA. The thought of our defense trying to cover him next year is just depressing.
  3. I'd absolutely LOVE to be wrong, but I think you're absolutely correct. He showed us who he is with the staff he brought in. Obviously, I could be 100% wrong - and I hope I am. But I think the writing has been on the wall ever since he justified keeping Horny with "I'm smart and you aren't." If there isn't a substantial overhaul of the coaching staff after the season (Orlando, Mehringer, Washington, and Warehime at absolute minimum), I feel like it will basically prove that he is who I think he is.

  5. That's funny. Honestly, with the way Buechele is playing right now, he would probably carve both defenses up. The difference is that we can actually score enough to hang on. aggy with Mond? Not so much.
  6. So, take it for absolutely, demonstrably nothing grounded on any sort of concrete information whatsoever? And then promptly disregarding said "inside information" as utterly fabricated and completely worthless? Done and done.
  7. Hate to quote Lane Kiffin, but I feel like it applies to Big XII refs more than just about any other conference (although it seems like the Pac-12 guys seems like they're close):
  8. On the plus side, if Herman does refuse to make some badly needed changes, at least it seems likely that he'll leave the program with some decent talent for his replacement.
  9. Jimmy Lake seems like a solid choice. Any interest in Kevin Steele, Mike Tressel, or Jim Leonhard? edit: plus, since Lake, Steele, and Leonhard all coach DBs, we'd get the chance to ditch Washington and maybe Naivar.

  11. Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Hardly anyone watches anyway, outside of the two FB games per year and, to a lesser extent, baseball, so there's really no incentive for them to make any kind of change. Especially one that increases costs.
  12. I don't think TCU is anything special either. Not that it matters - because if the Horns play those games like they played tonight, shit is going to be ugly (uglier).
  13. Jamison is definitely the second corner - but having a trustworthy third to rotate in and use in certain situations would be huge, IMO . Especially if Cook can start living up to his billing.
  14. Out of rep, but yes, I think that would be a big deal. Just need Cook to turn the corner and one of our biggest weaknesses could get a lot better over night. Maybe not be a strength, but at least less of a glaring deficiency.
  15. This thought is the only thing keeping me from a complete meltdown. They also seemed to start to turn the corner on offense after that game. I'm praying for something similar this year (though I'm not especially optimistic at the moment).
  16. I'm out of rep, but this is 100% correct. Not a great decision at all - especially with all the mistakes this team makes.
  17. No Franklin, please. I prefer coaches without rape scandals.
  18. Agreed. The Paterno stuff concerns me, though. That, and the fact that I think the NFL is his end goal, so we might not have him for more than a couple of years.
  19. Seriously. This is a probably a 3-4 team with Strong at them helm. Maybe even 2-5.
  20. Agree 100%. I feel like we'll know a lot more about Herman's future as a coach based on what he does (or, God forbid, doesn't do...) to address the obvious deficiencies on the staff.
  21. If we were going to ditch Herman, I would not mind hiring Rhule one bit. Dude can fucking coach.
  22. Holy fuck. To the people calling for Meyer, come the fuck on. I'm as pissed about this shitshow as anyone, but this is TEXAS. We do NOT hire coaches who cover up domestic abuse (among other things). PERIOD.
  23. I hope you're right. But Sterns doesn't look like the same guy and Green got abused vs. LSU. We don't know much about Whittington, Shack being 100% would definitely be a good thing, Chris Brown has had some good moments (but also some not so good moments), Tillman is an unknown, and I'm not sure Josh Thompson is coming back before the bowl game. So, I guess that, although I know it will be a good thing, I'm not sure HOW good. I really, really hope you're right. Because my heart can't take too many more games like tonight. Edit: oh, and I get the impression that Shark is probably done for the season. Collarbone injuries are no joke.
  24. Tulsa was pretty close. But yeah, this one is worse.
