  1. I'm loathe to predict anything, other than overall dems got way more votes than the GQP across the country. And because of gerrymandering and voter suppression this will be way closer than it should be, and we're still overall screwed because there's just going to be more GQP gerrymandering and voter suppression and refusal to accept election results. But looking at the map, Warnock has 49.4% with 94% in. Of the 6% remaining, almost all of it is from heavily Democratic areas. It's certainly possible he'll get over 50%.
  2. Looks like most of what's outstanding is in the Atlanta area too. I wouldn't be surprised if Warnock takes it outright with no runoff.
  3. Warnock just pulled ahead by about 250 votes
  4. Have they called WI yet? It looks to me like Johnson's ahead, but a lot (most?) of what's outstanding is Milwaukee.
  5. Spoiler: they won't. It's a cult. Not a political party. They still support him after he stole top secret government documents, tried to overthrow the government, and supported Putin. Nothing will stop them from worshiping trump, unless he does us all a favor and chokes on a Big Mac.
  6. Doesn't say it's right wing, but we're, what, a month out from trump threatening American Jews.
  7. Also brought to you by the people who think it's humorous that someone bashed the Speaker of the House's husband's head in with a hammer.
  8. I think they mentioned it in passing. The problem with this season is that the editing is only about all the twists/advantages and challenges. I am completely lost on who's alligned with who and why and what the dynamics are. It's just a group of random people with a bunch of random advantages.
  9. I've been receiving multiple texts almost identical to this. In NJ. I live in a town that Biden won by about 80 points and don't buy their explanation that this was a mistake. If it was a mistake, why didn't they text me the correct polling place?
  10. If you want to discuss politicians' using their positions to profit, why don't you start a thread about it? It shouldn't be on here, a thread about Nancy Pelosi, who hasn't been specifically accused of self dealing, other than by the alternative facts folks, and they did so three days after her husband had his skull bashed in during an assassination attempt on her, in an attempt to deflect from the fact that the GQP has become a fascist organization. I'm sure there's plenty of self dealing, and it's unethical, and we should do something about it. But maybe not randomly discussing it on the Nancy Pelosi thread.
  11. Voted yesterday. Right afterward got a text from some organization called "Voting Futures" telling me, with a photo of the location, of the nearest vote location to me. But the location they sent isn't a polling place. Complete fuckery.
  12. Rented a car for a few weeks in Scotland. I actually thought driving in the towns was easier in a way---when I was out in the country it was easy to subconsciously get more into old habits and start driving toward the right side of the road. In traffic, it was much easier just to see what everyone else was doing and follow them. I'm sure driving in London would be a nightmare, though. Also, I recommend getting an automatic. Rented a manual, thought it would be no problem since I've had tons of stick shift cars, but shifting with my left hand was one extra thing to think about, in addition to all the other differences of driving on the left.
  13. Sounds lovely. Within the last 2 years, Nancy had insurrectionists in the Capitol trying to kill her, and then her husband gets his head bashed in by an intruder. Living the dream, I tell you.
  14. This. I went last December and needed those small notes everywhere. If you need to use the bathroom at a temple, you have to pay and they won't make change. Also, It was surprisingly cold. I needed my jacket every day except when we were at Abu Simbel.
  15. Imagine the day after Reagan was shot, we all argued about trickle down economics and what a piece of shit he was to women and minorities, while he was still on the operating table, to deflect from the fact we supported Hinckley and wish he'd achieved his goal.
  16. Given how in the bag for the right wing law enforcement is, and that private security is likely consisted of law enforcement or people who couldn't hack it in law enforcement, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a slow response to anything that came in. But it's far more likely to be Hanlon's Razor combined with a large segment of the population, probably including the first responders here, who have become inured to political violence than any deep conspiracy.
  17. FIFY. You can stop right there. No need to what about or blame the victim.
  18. Good to know we’ve pivoted to the victim blaming portion of the show. They didn’t have a gun. They lived in a Democrat run city. The attempted assassin lived in a democrat run city. They didn’t have a good security system. Fuck off with that noise to distract from your side’s terrorism.
  19. WTF with blaming Jews for the Holocaust. How about this, "“We can’t take these guys seriously. Most people are not stupid enough to believe their rhetoric. Besides we need more money and a scapegoat. So I'll ignore the violence and don't really give a fuck if sanity if ever returns because the violence isn't directed at me." German so called Christians-1932.
  20. I love this right wing that puts every specific wrong their cult members do in some little box by itself, as though everything else that's happened is completely unrelated to what one crazy person did. Just because their supporters don't follow actual news, doesn't mean the rest of us have completely forgotten 1/6, pipe bombs sent to Democratic officials before the 2018 election, that Harris's bus was almost ran off the road during the 2020 election, the plot to kidnap the Michigan governor, or any other host of things.
  21. And the fact that TFG doesn't recognize that American Jews for the most part care far more about issues that actually affect their day to day lives and their children's futures than whether the U.S. embassy to Israel is located in Tel Aviv or 30 miles away in Jerusalem says everything about his complete lack of understanding of anyone apart from himself. Aside from also being antisemitic itself, assuming that everyone who's Jewish only cares about Israel to the exclusion of everything else.
  22. Religious extremists tend to support him, be they ultra Orthodox Jews or Evangelical Christians.
