  1. The GOP isn't a political party anymore. It's a cult. The GOP as an actual political party has, maybe, three members who are currently in office. Everyone else is a cult member. They will not abandon trump no matter what. I can't imagine given this the GOP getting rid of MAGA, but if they did just about everyone in their leadership is a billion times more committed to MAGA than to the GOP. The best thing that could happen to the country would be if trump died tomorrow. I'm not sure how the cult continues without its leader. But the idea, at least for as long as trump is alive, of the GQP jettisoning MAGA and trump is complete wishcasting and recency bias based on how the GOP (at least publicly pretended to) acted during the rest of our lifetimes until their base's brain became broken by a Black man as President. Acting like polls, or stench of loss, or basic decency matters anymore to the people who make decisions in the GQP, is to completely ignore the last few years. None of it matters. They only care about holding on to power, which they'll do by controlling a radicalized cult and suppressing the votes of the rest of us.
  2. If trump starts a MAGA party, the GOP will only consist of Cheney, Kinzinger, Romney, and a bunch of old, white RETIRED politicians. There is no rationality or shame left to the remaining members of the GOP. Edit to add there's also no stench to losing, because they've convinced their cult members they've won and there's a vast conspiracy of fraudulent votes.
  3. I can't believe I'm about to ask this. But do we know if donny was staying at his ex's house. This happened in NYC and he was scheduled to be there next week for the deposition.
  4. This. The cult is not going to get rid of the cult leader. Hell, they changed their entire "platform" to "whatever Trump says."
  5. I hope our fed government is providing her with security. If they could provide security to Kav because people were protesting his taking away rights while he ate a crappy steak dinner, we can provide people who save children's lives with protection fro actual violent assholes.
  6. Yup. It's the shooters having access to weapons of war.
  7. Curious if the OP ever commented on the former so called president calling Mexicans "rapists and murderers." Or being from a "shithole country." Or, hell, anything from the hearings today.
  8. So no discussion of this yet that I could find from yesterday.
  9. As someone who lives on the east coast let’s do it. The country would be solidly blue. And we could pass voting rights legislation right away and end the extreme gerrymandering in NC and VA and the GQP would be purged except for maybe SC. The rest of y’all can have Gilead
  10. It's even better, we have a pretty good chance someone, really multiple people, severely wounded in this incident will need to beg online for help with health care expenses even if they have been paying out the ass for Healthcare for years. 100% chance. I have family in Highland Park, who were thankfully not at the parade. But I've already seen requests related to a family of 4, all of whom were wounded and need surgery, and help paying for the four hospitalizations.
  11. It was directed at DalTx, and all the other posters who suggest more incarceration as the solution to gun violence every time there's some hint of something a shooter did or threatened years earlier, but was still a free man. It was not directed at you, and I'm sorry you lost your mother that way. Access to treatment for mental illness in this country is a disgrace. I'll just note I was responding to an article about vague threats the shooter apparently made in 2019, which were responded to by law enforcement, and presumably not mental health professionals Whether had he received adequate mental health care, including possibly involuntary commitment three years ago, would have made any sort of difference, I don't know. There's nothing in the reporting to date to suggest the shooter here had anything diagnosable on the DSM, as opposed to just being a horrible human being.
  12. Interesting that the same people who think every American has the right to concealed carry an AR-15, also thinks the solution is to throw people in prison for a vague threat to "kill everyone," presumably without any jury trial or evidence of an actual criminal statute that was violated.
  13. We're playing Calvin ball with the law that protects the rights of women and brown people. And you should buy AR-15's just in case we decide to also play Calvin ball to get rid of firearms, despite rulings that make clear we will gut the already existing gun control laws on the books. That's I guess the argument from your side on it. Cool cool.
  14. I have family that lives a few blocks from there. Fuck.
  15. I did one a few weeks ago on Celebrity. I don't think it's my preferred way to travel. A lot of people, and I really just wanted to stay in port and explore more. That said, scenery was gorgeous, it's hard to get to these parts of Alaska any other way, and it's hard to have a bad time hanging out with a group of friends on a ship with scenery, food, drinks, pools, etc. As others have said, avoid Carnival, although I have no personal point of comparison. I've also done a Nile cruise, which was amazing. But that was basically a floating hotel, with maybe 100 passengers, and most of the time spent in port at Luxor and Aswan, with just a few hours in transit.
  16. Even if he was armed so what. Or is the so called constitutional right to concealed carry only afforded to white people?
  17. Of course republicans won’t care. But why are dems letting them set the narrative. Make ginni testify under oath or take the 5th
  18. And apologies for the typos in this and my prior post. But gd autocorrect on my stupid fucking phone. But why aren’t they asking Kennedy about the pressure (blackmail?) for his resignation. Completing the fbi investigation on Kav that trump quashed and impeaching him. Possibly impeaching gorsuch for the stollen seat. The GQP is still screaming nonsense about Hunter Biden and the dems won’t even investigate known corruption that’s real.
  19. The dems should be pounding the table that Thomas must resign. They should have long ago subpoenaed Gianni about her role on 1-6 bad called on Clarence to testify about why he was still ruling on cases about 1-6. Hell, he should have been impeached the second that info came out. I get that the debate wouldn’t convict. But the dems should be yelling and screaming and holding these corrupt assholes feet to the fire. Make them Testify under oath about their corruption.
  20. Sure. But how's that rationally going to happen. The Dems get 2 more Senators, abolish the filibuster, and pass a law saying Marbury v. Madison was wrongly decided, and SCOTUS no longer has the power of judicial review? Good luck with that one.
  21. Why does it have to be one or the other? Congress is fucked up. It's filled with a bunch of wackos or checked out long termers in safe seats due to gerrymandering. I don't think anyone here disagrees with that. The Supreme Court is also fucked up and is rendering batshit decisions sounding in Calvin Ball.
  22. Yes, in part. But do you really want to get on a passenger jet that was certified for commercial flight based on guidelines developed by a group of laypeople that includes rocket surgeons such as MTG as opposed to engineers with flight experience at the FAA?
