  1. This is simply enraging. https://www.propublica.org/article/georgia-abortion-ban-amber-thurman-death?fbclid=IwY2xjawFVnqJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHTvOGh_zzOaPWHoQypY5qvcRQ_XPT5FskBLEPizhbRbEmJqN-mP7Kqyorg_aem_uXC0oM9XD506siicK1w-Xw In her final hours, Amber Nicole Thurman suffered from a grave infection that her suburban Atlanta hospital was well-equipped to treat. She’d taken abortion pills and encountered a rare complication; she had not expelled all of the fetal tissue from her body. She showed up at Piedmont Henry Hospital in need of a routine procedure to clear it from her uterus, called a dilation and curettage, or D&C. But just that summer, her state had made performing the procedure a felony, with few exceptions. Any doctor who violated the new Georgia law could be prosecuted and face up to a decade in prison. Thurman waited in pain in a hospital bed, worried about what would happen to her 6-year-old son, as doctors monitored her infection spreading, her blood pressure sinking and her organs beginning to fail. It took 20 hours for doctors to finally operate. By then, it was too late. The otherwise healthy 28-year-old medical assistant, who had her sights set on nursing school, should not have died, an official state committee recently concluded. Tasked with examining pregnancy-related deaths to improve maternal health, the experts, including 10 doctors, deemed hers “preventable” and said the hospital’s delay in performing the critical procedure had a “large” impact on her fatal outcome. Their reviews of individual patient cases are not made public. But ProPublica obtained reports that confirm that at least two women have already died after they couldn’t access legal abortions and timely medical care in their state. There are almost certainly others.
  2. Why can't the media fucking call them "lies"? Trump and Vance didn't "claim Haitian immigrants are eating pets." They "spread lies about Haitian immigrants eating pets." This shouldn't be difficult.
  3. They have no interest in winning new votes. They don't give one flying fuck about voters or actual votes. Their only interest is hoodwinking their cult. Both into voting for them and also into thinking the election is stolen when Harris wins it.
  4. The irony of these fucksticks faking outrage over fake stories of going to another country to kill cats.
  5. From the actual article: The only candidate in the United States to have received an endorsement from a celebrity as powerful and as well loved as Taylor Swift is Beto O’Rourke, who was treated on Election Day in 2018 to an image of Beyoncé wearing one of his campaign’s signature trucker hats. It was a stamp of approval in his race against the most loathed politician in America, Ted Cruz, from, as he puts it, “perhaps the most famous person to ever emerge from the state of Texas.”
  6. If your argument is the moderators were unfair because they didn't parse out the meaning from a load of rambling and double talk from trump and whether Harris was couching it correctly, but corrected trump on whether immigrants are stealing cats to eat them for dinner, you're a cult member who has lost all common sense.
  7. So it's gotta be way more than that? I don't think it takes into account multiple people watching one stream or tv together.
  8. Completely anecdotal, but I'm in a text group with a few other women from around the country who met and became friends at this function. The sole Republican in the group, a white woman from a swing state who described herself as upset with the overturning of Roe, was ragging on trump at least as hard as the rest of us last night. Not naive enough to think she's definitely voting for Harris, but she certainly wasn't holding back on her opinions of trump.
  9. Once Harris mentioned people walking out of his rallies, nothing anyone did to prep him mattered.
  10. Yeah, and if you're in court, you have a judge correcting the crazy person's nonsense. There's no fact checking here. Just a shit spewing moron who can't shut up. Coming off well against when you're trying to argue facts and logic against shit spewing orangutan is more difficult than appearing confident and knowledgeable in a reasoned debate.
  11. Homemade pasta. It always comes out disgusting when I try to make it. Too thick. Or mealy. Or just plain off. I cannot get it to come out okay.
  12. Same. In court, the hardest people to have on the other side of an argument are the pro se crazy people, when you're trying to steer the argument in a logical direction and they're going off on off the wall tangents on irrelevancies you never even thought of. It's always easier to debate someone when you have an understanding of the logical things they may address. You may win the argument when it's a judge with knowledge deciding. But when it's just a bunch of vapid commentators and an electorate 40% of whom are in a cult, you can just come off as flailing in trying to address the inanity.
  13. After 2016, WI has elected a Dem governor (a flip from Scott Walker) and two Dem Senators and flipped the state Supreme Court to Dem control. There was also a referendum pushed by the right, which failed a few weeks ago.
  14. The Magats are too stupid to figure out the possessive before printing up T-shirts and posting for millions of people to see.
  15. Have you seen the polling of 18 to 29 year olds? Turnip loses bigly among them. I’m not saying he doesn’t have a significant percentage of them. He does. But every 4 years that passes it becomes a somewhat smaller percentage. Which if you’re talking about 12k votes in Georgia makes a difference. Without election fuckery he has a marginally harder road to the presidency every 4 years based on demographics
  16. Absolutely. And they they’ve been cult members with their parents. But newer voters are still overwhelmingly dem. Each 4 years that pass make it harder for turnip. Which isn’t to say he can’t win given the ec. But he has to do more inflaming of his cult and getting cult election officials in place
  17. I doubt there are many 18-22 year old trump voters also. He has no room to grow his vote, he can only drum up enthusiasm among his existing cult who haven’t died in the last 4 years.
  18. No, it doesn't. It makes Trump either admit he needs a mute button, or feed into Trump bailing on the debate. Or to get trump to further commit to the debate. His team could easily we want to stick to the rules agree to earlier with Biden, and I'm sure Harris would accept that. Harris is saying she wants to change the rules, something trump could agree to or not. And if he doesn't, then it's obvious his handlers think he needs a mute button.
  19. He just says whatever pops into his pea brain the moment he says it. He doesn't care about if it's accurate or completely inconsistent with what he said 5 minutes ago, or what he'll say 5 minutes from now. It's all just nonsense. And his cult will keep voting for him, no matter what he or they say.
  20. Seats 9 or 10. The only seats I'm not worried about getting sexually assaulted if I fall asleep.
