  1. She. And yeah. I was being conservative in my estimate. From the same WaPo article: Fourteen days after she arrived at the hospital, the group concluded it was time to move Diana to another machine called ECMO, or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, in which the blood is pumped outside the body to give the lungs and heart a chance to rest. The decision to put a patient on ECMO is not taken lightly. The therapy, developed in the 1970s, is lifesaving in the right circumstances. But it can also lead to bleeding, stroke, seizure, blood clots and infection. Moreover, the equipment is scarce, the staffing intensive, and the treatment can run up hospital bills in the millions. Diana Crouch spent 139 days in the hospital with covid. (Family photo) At the beginning of the pandemic, many people were worried about rationing ventilators, but instead it’s been ECMO that has been in limited supply nationwide. “That is the tough part nobody wants to talk about,” Dezfulian said. “There are a limited number of pumps, and you make some decisions on the likelihood they will have a long life and a good life.”
  2. Never mind the health care costs for all the people she gave Covid to. According to the article, she was in Vegas, had symptoms there, still went to Cirque de Soleil, and then was admitted to a hospital after they returned to Texas, so presumably also got on a plane with Covid.
  3. Sure. So it's groovy to needlessly pay for well over $100k of healthcare for someone who could have avoided it with a shot that costs around $35. Never mind the health care workers in the ICU, who were already exhausted, but had to clean up her shit for weeks. I am completely out of sympathy.
  4. This. They went around Vegas, staying at a hotel, going to at least one show, presumably going to casinos and restaurants, and also presumably getting on a plane to get back to Houston. All while unvaccinated and she was sick, just not sick enough to be in the hospital yet. Fuck knows how many people's lives she put at risk. The rest of us presumably paid for her extremely expensive medical care which involved an ECMO. We'll presumably continue to pay for her medical care and disability since she suffered from a bunch of strokes as a result. I'm all out of sympathy. I hope those assholes continue to suffer for the rest of their lives.
  5. Or that MLK was arrested many, many times.
  6. Not that it matters, because the goal was always to get this to SCOTUS.
  7. WTF happened to being angry that pols were removing Covid restrictions allegedly because of polling? now you support them listening to the polls? Or nope, just more shit to fling at walls.
  8. I'm not sure how at 15 she could have consented to taking these drugs. It's just sad. The adults in her life are horrible. She could be doing permanent damage to her body, and could have been the goat, but now at 15 will forever be looked on as a cheater. Because her team were greedy assholes.
  9. It's the Johnny Sack equivalent to the stupid tweet posted above trying to weigh the atrocities of the Holocaust to the atrocities of slavery. It's not a contest between, say whether how Blacks are treated in the US is comparatively better or worse than for example how Australia treats Aboriginals, as though there's even some objective metric to compare them anyway.
  10. Yeah. i get that. But all the talk about whitewashing history is true. But it feels like this is also at least equally an attempt to gut public education. No one with an IQ above room temperature is going to want to become a teacher in a red state soon, when they can be sued for teaching kids about slavery, offering a meal that doesn't have meat in it, being watched all day on video camera, have to argue with parents about the lesson plans they have to distribute to parents. Never mind all the other shit teachers already have to deal with. Betsy DuVos is making out like a bandit. They're succeeding in destroying public education in this country.
  11. This is right in line with GQP plans to gut public education in this country, and funnel the money to private schools and the wealthy.
  12. Well maybe if the GQP wasn't banning Maus and gutting education on both slavery and the Holocaust, she might know how stupid it was to make this comparison.
  13. Some. Maybe most. There's some trucks. There's also a lot of people in RV's, pick up trucks, and cars--- many of whom took their young kids with them to their infantile protests over vaccines. It started with some truckers, funded by a Q conspiracy theorist. But the shut down now involves many more people in a variety of vehicles and a variety of occupations.
  14. Fucking love the same useful idiots who thought that BLM protestors should be run over because they blocked a highway for a few hours on a weekend, and supporting laws making it legal to kill people for blocking a highway, supporting Canadian fake truckers shutting down highways and fucking up the supply chain.
  15. Y’all think trump stole documents worth millions of dollars and didn’t try to collect on them?
  16. God. i hope you're right. And it's not that I think he had a complicated scheme. I think he had a lot of debt and wanted to sell shit from the White House, up to and including state secrets. He also had members of his own family who he forced through security clearances for who could have boxed up the documents.
  17. Or Jared's doing the cyber. If he was just trying to conceal top secret documents, why wouldn't he just eat them, flush them down the toilet, or put them in the fireplace. He was giving the documents to someone.
  18. I'm sure his family will file a medical malpractice suit. And with a Mississippi jury hearing he was denied horse dewormer will award them millions.
