So the same people who thought it was fine that trump deferred on invoking the DPA because Covid was primarily hitting blue states including NY at the time, are suddenly concerned about New Yorkers dying from Covid? Or who voted for a man accused of 20 plus sexual assaults are worried about sexual harassment? Given that y'all clearly don't actually give a flying fuck about either liberals dying from Covid or women who are sexually harassed or assaulted, why should anyone want to listen to your rantings about Cuomo? And to be clear, I think Cuomo did a shit job, and that he should resign. But the GOP has lost absolutely all of its moral authority and the people who are fine with lying about Jewish space lasers, immigrants being the cause of spread of Covid, and that the unenacted Green New Deal caused Texas to lose power need to shut the fuck up.
  3. Amazon just released this a few hours early.
  4. I for one am outraged that Dr. Seuss' heirs will no longer make money off sales of this fine work of literature, vital for all children to read.
  5. Probably not. But if they start spreading variants that the vaccine doesn't offer full protection against, eventually it'll get to the city. Their vaccinated kids who live in Austin or NYC will visit them, contract a variant, take it back to the city.
  6. I hope this is right. But what about the variants? It's not like there's a wall between rural and urban America. What happens when the antimaskers start spreading the variants? This may ruin 2021 and 2022 for all of us.

Lol. I've been waiting to what about the people who what abouted Hillary for four years to excuse vile behavior. What abouting is giving me great joy right about now,
  8. Caveat, I haven't listened to NPR since Covid began and I'm not commuting . But I don't think the message is that people of color need more assistance. It's that people of color are more likely to not receive appropriate medical care than white people. Hell, infant mortality for blacks in the US is more than double for whites. And there's plenty of anecdotal stories and hard evidence of disparities in care. Eg., black person goes to the ER acting strange and is treated as a psychiatric case, instead of testing for stroke. There are huge disparities in how health care is administered depending on the race of the patient in the US. It's not that race is determinative of outcomes, but your race makes you far more likely or less likely to be taken seriously by medical providers.
  9. I'll believe this goes anywhere when I see it. Cyrus Vance already dropped a prosecution into Ivanka after trump's lawyer bribed him.
  10. Even if you're a psychopath and are fine with people dying to save some money, how much is repairing all the broken pipes, etc. going to cost? And are the financial costs of these massive repairs really less than paying to winterize the infrastructure?
  11. Yup. Last January I started a new job, and they wanted me to move back to Texas. I said no and that I would only take the job if I could stay in the Northeast. In the 13 months since then, I've lived through the regions' different responses to Covid, and now this. I’m happy with the decision. I miss Texas, but not nearly enough to want to deal with that bullshit.
  12. I can't wait for the hypocrisy of the people who were fine with denying CA aid for not raking federal forests, ie for being a "blue" state when there's a GOP president, being just fine with asking for money from the Biden administration.
  13. Was a decision made on whether there will be witnesses? I thought that this was just opening statements. And afterward they would decide whether to also call witnesses.
  14. I just put it on. And Raskin is discussing Michigan and the kidnapping conspiracy
  15. What due process is trump not getting? His trial started yesterday. Who is bypassing due process and how are they bypassing it?
  16. Georgian (the country) chicken soup.
  17. I’m not sure why he’s not wearing it. My best guess is that trump didn’t want his white supremacist base to see his lawyers wearing a yarmulke. Orthodox men typically wear it at all times except sleeping or bathing. But it has to worn on certain occasions, such as when praying or eating.
  18. He’s an observant Jew. And he’s not wearing a yarmulke. So covering his head with his hand instead.
  19. I like the ominous music playing when black folk speak. They are so fucking obvious. And their base is so fucking stupid
  20. I wonder if and how the impeachment managers use their rebuttal time. Trump hasn’t provided any remotely cogent argument to respond to
