  1. Even if you're a psychopath and are fine with people dying to save some money, how much is repairing all the broken pipes, etc. going to cost? And are the financial costs of these massive repairs really less than paying to winterize the infrastructure?
  2. Yup. Last January I started a new job, and they wanted me to move back to Texas. I said no and that I would only take the job if I could stay in the Northeast. In the 13 months since then, I've lived through the regions' different responses to Covid, and now this. I’m happy with the decision. I miss Texas, but not nearly enough to want to deal with that bullshit.
  3. I can't wait for the hypocrisy of the people who were fine with denying CA aid for not raking federal forests, ie for being a "blue" state when there's a GOP president, being just fine with asking for money from the Biden administration.
  4. Was a decision made on whether there will be witnesses? I thought that this was just opening statements. And afterward they would decide whether to also call witnesses.
  5. I just put it on. And Raskin is discussing Michigan and the kidnapping conspiracy
  6. What due process is trump not getting? His trial started yesterday. Who is bypassing due process and how are they bypassing it?
  7. Georgian (the country) chicken soup.
  8. I’m not sure why he’s not wearing it. My best guess is that trump didn’t want his white supremacist base to see his lawyers wearing a yarmulke. Orthodox men typically wear it at all times except sleeping or bathing. But it has to worn on certain occasions, such as when praying or eating.
  9. He’s an observant Jew. And he’s not wearing a yarmulke. So covering his head with his hand instead.
  10. I like the ominous music playing when black folk speak. They are so fucking obvious. And their base is so fucking stupid
  11. I wonder if and how the impeachment managers use their rebuttal time. Trump hasn’t provided any remotely cogent argument to respond to
  12. Interesting tactic to suggest trump should be arrested
  13. Great argument. The people were smart enough to pick a new administration. So it was ok for the old administration to try and stop the transfer of power. Wtf
  14. It’s genuinely sad that this guy’s argument will most likely prevail over Raskin and Neguse’s.
  15. 2 hours of this. Fuck
  16. This is the other side is obviously right and I have no cogent legal argument so I’ll ramble and suck up so as not to just concede we have no argument that doesn’t involve me lying.
  17. After years of what abouting Clinton, the right should defend this:
  18. As of Jan. 14, 44 Republicans and 16 Democrats . And of those 16 Dems, four contracted Covid after being stuck in a room on 1/6 with Republicans who refused to wear masks. https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20210114/61-member-of-congress-have-tested-positive
  19. The Republicans are projecting. Like they always do. They whine and cry and every perceived slight and are fearful of anyone who isn't perfectly polite to them. See Sarah Sanders not getting served in a restaurant, the guy whose MAGA hat was stolen, and the cop who had to wait for service at the McDonalds drive thru. After they've yelled and screamed about that stuff, they assume any Democrat who expresses fear or anger has to be overreacting as much as they always do.
  20. Maybe he’s saying that the average republican doesn’t believe you should inject bleach to stop covid spread. Of course, over 90% of them supported the republican president’s handling of covid response even after he said that.
  21. 56% of republicans believe in oanon. Only 13% believe it's not true. https://civiqs.com/reports/2020/9/2/report-americans-pessimistic-on-time-frame-for-coronavirus-recovery 49% of republicans supported trump's child separation policy. 34% opposed. https://www.lawfareblog.com/new-poll-despite-partisan-divides-immigration-americans-oppose-family-separation 56% of republicans believe Obama was born in Kenya. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-birther-myth-stuck-around-for-years-the-election-fraud-myth-might-too/ 23% of Republicans think Biden won the 2020 election. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2021/01/15/voters-reflections-on-the-2020-election/ If you don't believe these things, then you're not an "average republican."
