  1. Which is pointless if Boebert or whoever can bring weapons into her office and then her staffers could use them.
  2. Someone needs to talk me off the ledge. I think they're planning to shoot Pelosi during the impeachment vote tomorrow. It's not like the Capitol Police are going to be searching all their offices overnight. And now they just brought a bunch of weapons into the Capitol less than a week after the first part of the coup attempt.
  3. Yeah. And fuck. Are they planning to end impeachment by shooting Pelosi? Ya know, since the opening salvo of the coup last Wednesday didn't result in the deaths of any Dems yet (although at least 3 have Covid given to them by the GOP). WTF is the goal here?
  4. True. And I'm not in any way excusing this. But I'm sure he's also not there because trump would fire him tonight.
  5. Also, the pandemic thing likely means that those of us living in reality aren't likely to be at an airport these days. I imagine planes are filled with primarily trumpkins flying.
  6. They also gave Covid to Rep. Bonnie Coleman Watson, who is black, 75-years-old, and a cancer survivor. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/mob-attack-capitol-coronavirus-congresswoman/2021/01/11/edae7c5e-5438-11eb-a08b-f1381ef3d207_story.html
  7. They did. But they only received the first dose, not the second. And Coleman Watson is a 75-year-old cancer survivor.
  8. Honestly, and in all seriousness, I hope she's there. She's the one person trump wouldn't endanger by inciting a riot to her location.
  9. Not necessarily. You need (1) the vice president and (2) either a majority of the cabinet or "other body as Congress may by law provide." I think some of the wrangling was about passing a law to provide for that "other body," which I'm not sure if anyone knows exactly what that language means. But I think there was some thought by the congressional dems that since there essentially is no cabinet and the people who are still there are sycophants in on the insurrection, appointing the "other body" could be an out. You would only need a majority of both houses of congress to establish the "body." That said, while maybe they should work on this also, every second trump is in power he is in danger, and I can't believe the House hasn't voted on impeachment yet.
  10. Meanwhile, the antimask, seditious trumpers gave at least one dem Covid.
  11. Yeah, they should have impeached Wednesday night immediately after the EC stuff. I can sort of understand waiting a day, especially since they and their staffs had been terrorized on Wednesday. It was the wrong decision, but I can get it. But there is no excuse for impeachment not to have started last week.
  12. His father was also business partners with Paul Manafort. There's obviously not enough information to conclude anything right now, but I hope this is being investigated by the FBI. I'm certainly not saying he orchestrated this, but he could have been one of the officers involved in letting the rioters in, taking selfies, etc.
  13. Yes. There's video of the whole thing. I posted it yesterday. At the very beginning of the video, with a crowd of white rioters screaming at him, he shoves one of them. He then runs up some stairs, and then away from the Senate chamber, while radioing his location, so that they are met by Capitol police away from the chamber. He deserves the Medal of Freedom. The real one.
  14. NSIAP. He basically saved the republic here. He shoved one of the white rioters, and got them all to follow him, away from the Senate chamber.
  15. Maybe we should pretend that people lost to Covid are actually lost twitter followers. Then they'd actually give a fuck.
  16. FWIW, his father was business partners with Paul Manafort in the 1980s. https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Howard_S_Liebengood
  17. Anecdotally, the most batshit stuff I've seen on facebook from any of my "friends" is from my cousin's son, mid-20s, recently left the Marines. His page is filled with vile hatred. I unfriended him a while ago, but it popped back into my feed recently when some other family members tried to put some correct facts out there, and that ended in everyone basically disowning each other, and the "friends" in his echo chamber all reinforcing how wronged he was by his mean family.
  18. This is a must read, although long, from a professor who studies authoritarianism. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/09/magazine/trump-coup.html?referringSource=articleShare&fbclid=IwAR3m8eT9G59X-xdG5d_OSxvIWqwtD9WpFZXrF28OCk-FnGUeKTjc9vuvdLg
  19. He does a short show trial, so that the real trial and evidence doesn't put all his members on the spot after 1/20 when Schumer becomes majority leader.
  20. No one is being silenced. Trump, Cruz, and Romney could all call a press conference right this second. They can issue statements on their own websites. They can talk to the media, OAN, or whoever. Trump literally has a press office in his house. You seem to want the government to force private entitles to print specific speech you like. And to be clear, what you like right now is seditious speech.
  21. Any laws are only as strong as the people wielding them. We can make as many changes to the pardon power or the Constitution as we want, but if the people in charge of governing our country don't believe in the rule of law it doesn't matter. If the pardon power were different, trump would just find a different way to abuse it or something else to abuse. There is no legal reform that would stop him.
