  1. 56% of republicans believe in oanon. Only 13% believe it's not true. https://civiqs.com/reports/2020/9/2/report-americans-pessimistic-on-time-frame-for-coronavirus-recovery 49% of republicans supported trump's child separation policy. 34% opposed. https://www.lawfareblog.com/new-poll-despite-partisan-divides-immigration-americans-oppose-family-separation 56% of republicans believe Obama was born in Kenya. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-birther-myth-stuck-around-for-years-the-election-fraud-myth-might-too/ 23% of Republicans think Biden won the 2020 election. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2021/01/15/voters-reflections-on-the-2020-election/ If you don't believe these things, then you're not an "average republican."
  2. Prosecution would require proof beyond a reasonable doubt to convict. Impeachment requires the Senators to decide he shouldn't hold office again and should stop him or his successors from attempting a coup again. Or more likely, here, just puts the Senate GOP on record as being fine with treasonous behavior so long as it's being committed by Republicans.
  3. The comparison of the House brief to trump's brief is stunning. Given how many lawyers trump's gone through in the last few days, they didn't have much time to work on it. But it's a bunch of nonsense on a page and poorly written. The House brief is, unsurprisingly, very well written and damning. Of course, the people who most need to read it won't.
  4. I can't wait to "what about" every single criticism brought by the GOP of Biden. Also, absolutely shocking that a lawyer who worked with another lawyer got a government job as a lawyer. Fuck all that nepotism. Especially shocking since they are from a small mom and pop firm of 2700 lawyers and only the fourth largest in the country.
  5. I may have been wrong about that, but can't change the thread title. I'm not sure why the police were at her house, except they were responding to a domestic dispute and then they took the 9 year old with them.
  6. So much this. I take a beating on my taxes. But I'm fortunate enough to make enough money to have this problem. And while I obviously don't like paying taxes, I'm happy that I live in an area with good public schools, even though I don't have children and good public services in general. I'm sick and tired of my money going to donor states who refuse to give their citizens decent education and healthcare, while bitching about coastal states' budgets and having their own Congress critters voting to get rid of the SALT deduction. And I'm really sick of most of my federal income tax dollars going to foreign misadventures and nonsense like border walls, while the federal government can't do the basics in protecting its citizens such as a Covid relief bill or providing infrastructure and funding for a vaccination program.
  7. Oh, wait, she's 9-years-old. And handcuffed. And the police union is already defending this nonsense. They should fire the entire Rochester PD at this point. The bad apples spoiled the entire barrel a long time ago. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-pepper-spray-9-year-old-girl-rochester-n-y-n1256313
  8. Fox News and their ilk will rile up their base about the "radical left" no matter what the left the actually does. That said, this is fucking stupid. And there are a trillion things to be more concerned about than this nonsense. If we want to fake concern for California, maybe worry about their out of control Covid rate, before what its schools are named.
  9. "Shaming" was the wrong word. I should have said "shunned." The people who voted for her are hateful. And my disgust is with them, far more than the bigoted, awful moron they decided to vote for.
  10. This. Her constituents need to be shamed in no uncertain terms.
  11. This. Except the average Republican doesn't give a fuck. The average Republican is all in on craziness. But there are more of us than there are of them. And we need to act like it. And also to shame the so called "average Republicans" who wilfully ignore truth and decency. The gerrymander, voter suppression, Electoral College, both siderism, and a wimpy Democratic party have made this less clear. Around 40% of the country is on board with lunacy and cruelty. It's on the rest of us to make sure that they find out from their fucking around.
  12. The "average Republican" doesn't care about facts or who she is. The "average Republican" thinks the election was stolen, birtherism, O theories, and on and on. They voted for 45 again despite injecting bleach, kids in cages, abandonment of the Kurds, and I could go on for days. The "average Republican" either is insanely ignorant and shielded from all facts or doesn't give a flying fuck about facts or decency. There is nothing that could come out about her that would change any of their minds.
  13. She's cut from the same cloth as the other Republicans in Congress. She just doesn't have decades in government in which she faked putting a nice face on things and trying to hide her rotten core.
  14. Yup. This was great. Definitely recommend.
  15. Meanwhile,
  16. The only character traits that can possibly be discerned from the nonsense watch controversy are (1) that Biden was wearing his dead son who served in the military's watch at his inauguration, instead of putting his children in charge of Middle East peace talks and managing Covid vaccination, and (2) the morons who have more to say about Biden's watch than Trump making a coup attempt.
  17. It wouldn’t matter if it was a $50000 watch. He’s a grown ass man and he didn’t steal from the taxpayers to buy it. But in addition to the so called scandal being ridiculous, especially after years of a so called president who took millions of taxpayers’ money in income and stole from a children’s cancer charity, the NYT couldn’t even do basic research or decency to determine Biden was wearing his dead son’s watch.
  18. Good job, New York Times, on breaking this scandal. The Rolex was apparently Beau’s, and that’s why Biden wore it to the inauguration. You morons caught him wearing his dead son’s watch.
